Bryan Danielson On Differences Between His Wrestling Styles In AEW & WWE, Wanting To Work G1 Climax In NJPW Bryan Danielson on his goal to work a G1 Climax in NJPW: “One of the things I’ve always really wanted to do is I’ve wanted to do a G1. I like to push myself physically, and that’s actually one of the reasons I joined AEW is because they wrestle a very physical style. My match with Minoru Suzuki, very physical. My match with Bobby Fish, very physical. One of the most grueling things to do in professional wrestling is the G1 tournament because it’s so many physical matches and it’s night after night after night. One after another, you’re in the ring with killers, so that is something that really appeals to me. Now, it doesn’t appeal to my wife so much. She’s not bothered, but she’s like, ‘Oh, Bryan.’ She knows I’m gonna come home on Sunday and be beat up and have a big smile on my face. She just shakes my head at me sometimes, but she’s happy that I’m happy.” On the differences between his wrestling styles in AEW and WWE: “They can expect it to be very aggressive and very physical. I love smashmouth wrestling, and that’s what I want to do in AEW. For years in WWE, I was portrayed as the underdog, and they wanted me to wrestle a certain style and that sort of thing. Now, I can do what I like to do and wrestle with a higher degree of physicality. I think that scares some people [laughs]. But that’s one of the things I enjoy about wrestling the most. That’s something I really enjoy.”

Punk been out of wrestling for the last 7 years, there's no house shows for him to get back into great ring shape. His match with Sydal has been the best he's looked since coming back to wrestling. But wrestling Danielson or wrestling omega for the title is a different level of match, guessing he wants to get up to full speed as at his age and not doing it for so long, injuries are going to be a big risk for him. Plus form an ego point of view, he's going to want to hang with them in the ring, I don't think he's ready yet for a main event level match. Maybe if he is going to wrestle Wardlow, his next destination is to get involved in the Darby/Sting vs The Pinnacle feud to help even it out. Plus Page need's a run with the belt where he's the man or he in danger of being the next luger.

Mark Henry tells a story about JBL riding him so hard, he told JBL he would kill him. Then JBL took him to Ron Simmons, who explained its because they like him and its just part of the business. So Mark not the smartest knife in the draw, as I'm guessing JBL realised he just pushed him too far and was saving his skin. As I'm in the UK and always hear this behaviour comes from hazing in football and carried over into wrestling from the guys who just didn't want to grow up. Is there still this issue in American sport's, or has it been stamped out there as well.

Unfortunately just how much Dana turns a blind eye to Conor Mcgregor and John Jones makes your point silly beyond believe. Both should be out of MMA years ago, but Dana won't because of the money they make him. Being fined is just not good enough for the shit these guys have pulled over the years. Plus you think someone else won't offer them money if they became free agents to fight elsewhere.
-
I do remember the shit Shawn Michaels got for telling Vader to lighten up in the ring or he have him fired from the online community. This is probably the main reason why Walter won't workout on the main roster, as who should have to put up with that level of stiffness when they go to work.
-
Not the best argument, Conor Mcgregor throwing a dolly though a bus window. Plus lots of punches thrown at press events, weigh in's. Even on Ultimate Fighter there was a fight at the house. But yes, no need for back stage bulling, or assault of any kind in the work place

WWE TV 09/27 - 10/03 BIG MEATY MEN ARE SLAPPING MEAT
ragemaster replied to KawadaSmile's topic in WWE
There's a in your house where Shawn try's the house set and the door's locked, Shawn sells it like a scene in a horror film and then the undertaker press slams him on the steel ramp. -
What I don't understand, is why they wait until they call up the wrestlers to change their gimmick. The whole point of NXT is to get them ready for the main roster, so NXT should be where they perfect that gimmick for the main stage.
-
Flair not winning clean with the figure four hurt him as a credible world champion, He should have been booked much stronger back in the day.
-
Isn't this a homophobic promo, they laughing because big men slapping meat sounds like gay sex, since when should gay sex be something to laugh about?
-
Bret may not have been sleeping with Sunny, but we has sleeping around behind his wife back, so he was doing his own job of messing up his marriage.

If I'm a wrestler on a show, I'm a independent contractor, it would be my choice to work the show or not. In his position, he believes his friend, why would you care about a woman who's made the worse accusation possible against your friend. I wouldn't care if she didn't work, or got kicked of the show if I was in his place. I be a shitty friend to work the show and not say something just so she could if i had the power not too. I would word it as I'm just not working shows with this woman for personal reasons, I think that's perfectly acceptable. Plus from her point of view, why would she want to be on the same shows as Ospreay. Now if he doubted his friend or thought for a moment he did rape her, then yes he would be a shitty person to ban her. Because of the crime involved, it comes across as a bad play to pull. But I be surprised if most of us wouldn't do something similar in the same situation if we 100% believed our friend. As it human nature to help friends or hold grudge's against people we preserved have done us/friends wrong.

Yes sorry your right I will watch it, that is a bad line to use and imposable to justify, totally unacceptable

Need to watch this before I say too much on it, but Dreamer comments, I'm guessing these are based on Flair being Flair and not the actual physical sexual assault Flair has been accused of. Did Dreamer know of this or was just talking about flair doing his helicopter routine. As it seems unfair dreamer been made the villain for the whole wrestling world who knew of Flair behaviour and did nothing about it. Hell we all knew the story's about fair getting his dick out for the last 20 plus year's, I would guess most of us just thought it added to Flair legend as a party legend and lady's man. Or a desperate old man as he carried on doing it in his 50's, trying to relive his youth. I think the me too movement made us all revaluate certain behaviour and now we look at it differently with todays eyes. I don't think any of us thought Flair used force on woman, but if he was doing it at 50, it's not the first time he's done it has happened I'm guessing I know in the year 2021, Dreamer should know better, but even on the flair 30 to 30 they talk about him at collage flashing his dick out of a frat window. Just feel Dreamer got caught up unfairly and should undergo a sexual sensitivity training seminar before he goes back to work. As I think from the clips I've seen, he was defending the boys being boys and not the sexual assault. Would like to see his full interview uncut as well

Lets get the facts straight on the Ospreay story, he was what 20/21 years old when his happened. His friend was accused of rape, he backed his friend because he believed his friend couldn't or wouldn't have raped the girl. I like to think if I or a friend I completely trusted had this charge against one of us, we wouldn't turn our backs on each other and throw them/me under the bus. He acted without maturity in the situation with some tweets and probably should have just stayed quiet. As for the booking situation, I think if you had the power to deprive someone work who screwed over your friend (in his mind) So you didn't have to work with them on that show or just to hurt them back, at that age you might take the opportunity to do so. Now there seems to be no proof he did, but I think it's understandable in this situation. Because at that age most people boys and girls I know make poor choices and lets be honest are dicks in their teens/20's. Not saying it makes it right if that is what happened, but I don't think his career should end because of it. Now before I get ripped apart, I'm not saying she wasn't rapped and if she is the victim in this situation, my sympathy is fully with her. As unfortunately Rape convictions are all but imposable to get in the UK. I don't know if the guy was charged or convicted or even the full facts of the case, so if someone has more information please share. But I do get fed up with the black and white morality, that I doubt in the real world anyone on this board live their own lives by.

Check out his early WCW stuff, uncomfortable on camera and took some time to find himself. It took him time to project his charisma and not his nerves. Thinking more about his backstage vignettes/interviews then the in ring stuff.
-
That's a very valid and fair point on charisma, Brian Pillman is also one to add to that list. But Austin always had Charisma, just took time for the right gimmick and seasoning to bring it out to it's fullest. I always liked Stunning Steve Austin as a gimmick, that is acting, like two different wrestlers lol A lot of it is also presence, leaning how to stand and hold your body, not let your nerves show when the camera is on you. Some people like MJF and even the Miz are naturals at it. Bret hart had to grow into it, Been reading the old observers and the in the last one Meltzer brings it up as an issue with Nakamura not having any.
-
Suppose I meant her ring presence, she looks more like a star than Hobbs, as a wrestler yes Hobbs is way a head in the ring. But I don't think you can teach her charisma, I just mean she has more upside long term than Hobbs does. I don't object to his push, as you can't beat for the next two years until he is ready, as by then he won't mean anything when he is pushed. I just think he gets more praise than his skill set warrants at this point in time. Where I can see why people are high on Jade, as in a year or two she will be a big star in the business if she stays with it.

One of the problems I find on this board is just how Jim Cornette this board has become. Certain wrestlers like Jericho, Cody, Cage, Will Ospreay just based on their views or actions outside of the ring get ripped on constantly. Even when they involved in something good they get torn down, just because they not flavour of the month. Then other guys who do average stuff like Big E, Hobbs, Hook, are written about are like they the next big thing. The angle With Punk and Hobbs was only good because of the heat generated because punk got attacked. I liked the angle and I have no issue with Hobbs getting a match to help him grow as a performer with Punk. But compare him with Jade Cargill and it's night and day on how far both have progressed as acts. Hobbs is average at best at this point in his career, I think he needs at least two years. Or he would benefit for being sent to new japan next year and working the G1 just to improve his in ring work, as he's got good mechanics but he needs lots of experience to get to the next level. Hopefully Arn Anderson, Tully Blanchard and Taz are doing interview seminars with these guys and gals back stage. I think cancel culture, snow flake brigade has unfortunately had an effect here. In some cases like with Jericho's Gay slur it is 100% warranted and that shouldn't be used to get a pop in 2021. But Cody and Malaki had a return good angle with a cool brawl and the people reacted strong to it. Malaki is the new cool guy on the brand, so he was always going to get cheered, over who ever he feuded with. Cody did his job and put him over strong and in the match next week I'm guessing it will be heated and they have a good match. But Cody gets nothing but negative comments on here, even when he done nothing wrong so far in the build up for this match. The only problem's I had with last night show is yes Dan Lambert needs to go, or tone down his act a lot. As I think it's a turn off for the audience, especially if what he's saying has too much truth in it. The second is that it was over kill with the two separate brawls into the crowd last night, but that's a small point. I have no problem with good debate or discussion, but I do feel a lot of it not based on the true merits of the individual involved. But their personal politics or how nice they are is factored in when it comes on how they viewed. I do think Black life's also plays apart with all the Big E love on this board and I wish people would just say that the WWE has been a racist company and they need a strong positive black role model in the top spot. That I understand and can't argue with, I just wish they had used Keith Lee in that spot as for me he has more upside as a main eventer. it's become.

The proof is in the pudding, the fact they advertised there was was a good chance of a title change with the tweet and Randy and Lashley was also for the title in the main event. I think anyone who held the brief case and tweeted they were going to cash it in, would have increased the rating for that quarter. Lets see what the next few weeks on the ratings produce and if he is a draw. For me Big E just comes across as goofy and his Charisma isn't that high, but it might be like The Miz or Christian. Some guys you look at and you just don't buy them in that position . Its all subjective and that's my personal opinion on the guy, I'm happy to revise it, he might come out on Monday and blow me away with a promo. In a couple of month I could be his biggest fan. I think Ziggler was hurt by one, his name and two because he kept getting pushed and then not followed up on, the fans lost interest in him. I guess it helps Big E, that he's not been pushed in the single division much, so he doesn't have that loser sigma on him. Even though he's been in the company for so long, he's not been put in the main event to fail as much as some of the other guys working there. Time will tell where Big E ends up and if he's in the main event mix for the rest of his carer or he's back where he was like Kofi. From the respect of his peers I do hope he makes it, as he seems like one of the good guys in the business.
-
He's been part of a comedy team act for the last ten years, with breakfast cereal and pancakes as part of his gimmick. Not sure what part of any of his act say's main event guy. As a wrestler he's a little better than average and I never heard him cut a good/great main event level promo. Don't get me wrong, he has had some good matches over the years, works hard to the best of his abilities in the ring. But he's not standout great or even top 20 in the wwe as a wrestler for that promotion. His dive though the ropes is awesome, but dangerous as hell for him and for his own safety I wish he drop it. Yes New day do well for the kids, so for marketability he has points. I would love to be proved wrong and him not end up like a Dolph Ziggler world champion. But with WWE booking and the fact he wasn't booked strong with his win to begin with, I think he's chances are remote and he will drop the title back to Lashley at the next PPV. I also understand the black element of his push and the fact for kids watching at home it's important for them to see a positive black role model at the top. But also like the film Black panther, which was very important for people of colour to see themselves in a big budget Marvel/Hollywood film in a positive light. Unfortunately Black Panther as a movie just wasn't a very good film, just average and got overhyped because of what it represented. But this is the Wwe and with Kofi Kingston/Booker T/keith Lee/Ricochet they already proved they don't care about that. All guys they dropped the ball with and could have used to move the business out of the 50's. Yes Bobby Lashley had a strong push, but only because of his body and not in a positive way. I get the love for a guy who's worked hard for a company for 10 years, getting a title as a career achievement award. But what am I missing that you think makes him a main event level act.
-
Does Big E have main event Personality, I've never seen it. Cage carry's himself more as a main event level guy, but both are not main event level on the mic. We find out in the next few weeks how good Big E is in the top spot. I'm hoping he tweaks his act, but it may be out of his hands. Guess it depends on the promos his given from the booking team. Like a lot of people in the Wwe, we probably never see what they really capable off, as they so micromanaged. But wasn't a fan of his "break out" promo with Paul Heyman on talking smack.
-
If Big E can be the Champion, no reason Cage can't be the champ in WWE. I much rather watch Cage with the right opponent in a singles match than I do with Big E, but I think both would/do work better in tag teams. Put Cage with Bron Breakker and a new Stenier like tag team is born, not sure who in AEW I put him with. Maybe have him take Hobbs from team Taz and then you have a new power team in AEW. Which is something missing in AEW, as no big powerful tag teams and would add a different dimension to the division.
