I already talked about this in lenght in the past and don't intend to do it again. They do bother me. But anyway, this is neither here nor there since as I said it Lawer is better than good to me.
-
HOLY MOTHERFUCKING SHIT !!!!! YOU'LL GET BANNED FROM YOUR OWN BOARD !!!!!! Okay, maybe not. But you pointed a whole lot of stuff that bother me about Lawler. You forgot the no-sell comebacks. Though honestly I have Lawler at "very good/excellent", so he doesn't belong in this thread for me. Fuji at his peak was great (like Takada, you know), so no.
-
That made him look even better.

Thats' a good point. I don't think so. All of a sudden, Steph is sluting it up a notch on TV, Savage seems to be backballed and the rumours that he fucked her just appear from nowhere. Fantaisies.

This bug really is annoying. At times I don't understand why it doesn't work.

[1996-03-11-WCW-Nitro] Road Warriors vs Rick & Scott Steiner
El-P replied to Loss's topic in March 1996
The Steiners showing up unannounced on Nitro was yet another one of those "holy shit" moment, with more guys with actual star power showing up on TV. Against the Road Warrior to boot, the dream match of all dream match for US tag team wrestling. Nice bomb throwing power match. Disjointed, but it had to be expected. Steiners doing the job was a surprise too, but they were building up the Warriors for Uncensored, and the Steiners didn't lose any polish from that loss. Cool stuff.- 14 replies

It would have been a nice touch if Pillman didn't leave WCW afterward. Or if it turned into an angle with ECW. As it is, it's nothing.

[1996-03-09-WCW-Saturday Night] Lex Luger vs Johnny B. Badd
El-P replied to Loss's topic in March 1996
Match was okay. Putting the TV belt on Luger was a waste, he didn't need it. They are teasing a Badd heel turn, as he gets agressive with the Doll. He's a goner. I wish he had stayed in WCW, if only to spare us Sable, TV celebrity.- 3 replies

The two Cornette episode were pure gold. Shitload of great stories. The Phil Hickerson/Dennis Condrey/Tohjo Yamamoto double turn rib story was one of the funniest thing I ever heard.
-
Nitro was pre-empted that week. Anyway, this match is so redondant at this point, we've seen this a million time, and it's exactly what Loss said, your usual Flair vs Sting stuff with the order of sequences mixed up, as always. Tells no story, it's just a bunch of stuff. The no-finish gimmick was a nice throwback to the days of old, but it also garanteed a shit finish, which of course it was in the end.

At some point, nostalgia is getting toward senility. I mean, who *really* wants to see Hogan at WM (or on the Network) *again*. It was a nice nostalgia stint back in 2003 (which overstayed its welcome quite quickly though). Eleven years ago. Nostalgia only goes so far. At this point, bringing Hogan back is almost necrophilia.
-
Here we go again. The debate PWO doesn't want to see again, just next to Flair vs Bret. But yeah, it was 13 years ago. Those people are gone, and they won't come back for Sting who didn't brought them back to TNA either.
-
All of this... in 2014 ? Seriously ? This is sooooooo 2002.
-
Charlotte is Horsemen Country no more apparently.

Yep, this is the best TV match these two had thus far. Savage's selling and bumping was terrific here and really made Flair look great. The ending looks like a clusterfuck though, someone missed his cue. And of course, the Bootybooty Man, yet another embarrassing Hogan brainfart to give his bags handler some undeserved TV time. A mix between the old Beefcake and the Ultimate Warrior actually.

What a stupid match. Hogan takes 95% of the offense, most of it consisting on heeling it up on Arn despite already getting no babyface reaction. And he sells Arn's stuff for a good 10 seconds before hulking up. Heenan is great as pointing out everything bad about Hogan here. This is no way a real job, it's a joke, and Hogan makes sure it's even more a joke by coming back immediately after the lethal "high heel to the eye" spot, performed on an already injured eye mind you, that had him cry in pain for several minutes a few weeks before. Hogan sucks. In his 96 Timeline, Sullivan says those two jobs were Hogan's call because he was getting so much heat in the back and the constant pressure from Flair to do jobs. Hogan thought by doing "clean jobs" to Flair & his best friend back to back he would get some heat off his back.

[1996-02-12-WCW-Nitro] Interview: Ric Flair, Woman & Elizabeth

I really needed to laugh at this time, believe me, so thanks a whole lot for this.

The Warrior stint in WCW in 98 is some of the worst eye gouging TV I've seen. And I have seen a lot.

So is it the day when all of a sudden the Ultimate Warrior is great and all because he goes into the HoF ? Keep me posted.

[1996-02-11-WCW-Superbrawl VI] Ric Flair vs Randy Savage (Cage)
El-P replied to Loss's topic in February 1996
Better than I remembered. But damn, Buffer fucking up Flair's intro, the ref being inept at closing the door and making a superman comeback, the bell sounding at the wrong time, the wide shots and cut away from the blood and the ass, what a production disaster. Enjoyed the match more than I ever did though, Savage's selling was excellent, Flair brought back tons of fun spots, the best being falling crotch first on the top rope while showing ass (litteraly). The woman shoe is officialy the most lethal foreign object ever, it beat the MegaPowers. Liz's turn was a really nice twist that freshened the scene and gave Flair his last great stint as a character.- 10 replies

[1996-02-11-WCW-Superbrawl VI] Brian Pillman vs Kevin Sullivan (Strap)
El-P replied to Loss's topic in February 1996
Really, this "genius angle" was pointless in the grand scheme of things. The "bookerman" comment got totally over the head of the audience, got no heat and really was Pillman jerking off to work the guys in the back. I guess it worked since he got his release and showed up in ECW a few days later. The most insignificant "historical" moment of those storied years. Of course, Russo, who's an idiot, thought it was revolutionnary despite the fact it led to nothing and didn't draw a dime.- 10 replies
