  1. I enjoyed this match better than the one on Nitro because Savage showed more intensity at first, although he still mainly sold before trying to come back with the big elbow. The old-school Horsemen beatdown, 3 on 1 in a TV studio, was really cool.
  2. Excellent Flair promo, he seems rejuvenated by this Savage feud. Woman looks better than she did in 1990 too.
  3. This is my issue with Savage as a babyface at this point of his career, he would often sell 90% of the match and come back with two moves to win (or in this case, before the match would be thrown out). So yeah, it's surprising to see Benoit beat him down so much, but to me it doesn't make a very compelling match at all. The Woman stuff just made no sense to me, there was no reason explained why she was with Savage & Hogan to begin with, and she's always been a heel, so the turn was to be expected anyway. That bitchy Liz doesn't warn Hogan about Flair jumping on his back, which is great. Gotta love Okerlund trying to defend her when Savage is asking about the incident. Come on Gene, it was obvious Liz didn't even tried, you're so trying to get on her good side here.
  4. I love the continuity from the 92 WWF angle. Made pro-wrestling more like an organic world.
  5. Yep, nice TV match indeed. Luger worked a much better match here than Flair would later in the year.
  6. Yeah, I agree the WWF style really hurt the perception that Kurt was a killing suplex machine to me. Hell, Taz was much better in the role in ECW.
  7. The Gold Medal. And really, Angle's suplexes never looked that impressive to me compared to the Steiners throwing people around. Angle was at his best when he was a half-comedic clueless putz in 2000/01 to me.
  8. Thanks. I was wondering why I couldn't reply to a PM.
  9. Pretty much. This is a fun match because Flair actually cuts off Hogan several times, and the ending was quite the shocker, but Hogan's stuff was dead tired at this point. Cool finish.
  10. Meanwhile, on the other channel, Hogan was losing to Flair via pinfall.
  11. Great beating delivered by Finlay, who's sporting the mullet of all mullet. If you add the stach, Finlay had quite the 80's DDR soccer player look going on here.
  12. I don't think Liz got enhanced before late 1997 when she came back at Starrcade, but maybe I'm wrong. I think the dress was doing the trick here. Anyway, she indeed kinda looked like Sunny. Not yet as foxy as she would become as a heel. Oh, there was a match too. The usual stuff from these four. Savage was okay working with Flair during this period, but he was so much better as a heel to me. They do absolutely nothing with Woman, which is odd. Flair winning is quite the shocker. Damn heel booker Sullivan, he was trying his best to put heat on the heels despite Hogan's insecure attitude.
  13. Is that the first time the Road Warriors got back together since SummerSlam 92 ? Anyway, although they were clearly past their prime, it was a much more exciting debut (in blue, no less) than going to a draw against the freaking Head Bangers one year later on RAW. Luger is pretty great here, namedropping every team available including the State Patrol. Sting is an idiot. I loved their heel/face tag team, that was fresh and well executed.
  14. They had a better match a few days before on Saturday Night. Harlem Heat were a rather shitty team, and apart from the great ax kick at the beginning, this is typical plodding and boring HH work. Luger's angle made the segment interesting. Nitro was really stacking up the cards like crazy at this point, I'm surprised Raw won this one.
  15. Match didn't feel any special, just your regular Flair vs Savage TV match with a surprise finish. Hogan vs ONe Man Gang was the main event of the show, which tells it all. Savage is pretty great getting in Hogan's face after the match. Finally ! The whole Woman deal was interesting, at least Heenan referred to her past with Flair. In the 1996 Timeline, Sullivan talked about Hogan wanting Linda to get involved as a valet at this point.
  16. Dying promotions are my kind of stuff. Maybe I should try it. This guy is pretty creepy.
  17. And then Jerome would chime in about SECAM. We had the Minitel well before the Internet was all around, bitches !! Well, of course when the Internet was popular everywhere else, we still had the damn Minitel...
  18. And then Jerome would chime in about SECAM. It was odd how back in the 90s I was able to trade tapes with Australians and Kiwis but not the French until PAL/SECAM VCR's were the norm. When I bought my first tapes in 1998 I already had an NTSC compatible VCR. But I can't seem to convert my tapes onto DVD though, which sucks, although it would take a ridiculous amount of time I wouldn't be ready to spent these days I believe.
  19. This is a fantastic post. 100% spot on with every single point. The same.
  20. The trailer is extremely well done, but Cornette actually comes off much better (as in = not ready to explode) when you watch the whole thing. The TNA & Russo stuff has been heard before on podcast, but the whole ROH story (which constitute the meat of the show) is amazing. Corny is just a great storyteller as usual. Honestly, he seems in a better place now that he's ever been in the last 20 years. For those who fear political and religious rants, there's about 5 minutes of them at the end, and Oliver's reaction to Corny's anti-religious stuff is just hilarious. Really, Corny looks like he as moved on, and the blasts of fury showed in the trailer aren't as bad or out of control as they seem in context. The 1989 Timeline should be awesome.
  21. That's a pretty awesome exchange.
  22. Well, Dave has a point when he says Bryan looks like a mini-Duke Droese (well, he didn't say Duke Droese, but that was the sentiment).
  23. Rather fun Sting vs Flair typical match. Luger is a great character at this point, what a smooth motherfucker. Well, of course, only the dumbest of dumbest babyface could fall for his antics. Hogan is a total whiny bitch in the post-match. Hilariously bad and obnoxious.
