  1. Total hold-up on the card, like it's 1990 again. Both these teams look like they should be in the big leagues. Too bad the SMW partnership was derailed by Watts being demoted from power, Cornette back in town had great potential.
  2. Windham is great. This is what lacks from wrestling : serious stuff. No-Fear T-shirt, Harley, no-selling Flair returning, all about the NWA title, talking about history and the fact Windham is looking for this title since he was in Florida (basically). I love these segments.
  3. They built the strap match really well, White Castle of Fear aside.
  4. A thought it was a bit disapointing. Good match, but with Steamboat and Pillman you except more. I don't know, the work on the back was solid, Steamboat's selling was excellent, but maybe I expected more of a crazy brawl which is something the lumberjack gimmick kinda calls for to me. Gotta love to see Austin and Flamingo together rooting for Pillman. Man, that makes me think Raven vs Stone Cold is a dream match of mine I'll never get to see. The finish happening during the break is vintage Watts. It's a nice touch from to time to time.
  5. Agreed. There was no point to continue the show at all, at least no point in broadcasting it. Nobody cared about watching a cold Cody Rhodes vs Rey match, and the final angle was awkward to watch, really. Showing clips and have an update between them would have been fine.
  6. Jerry Lawler : 1 - Death : 0
  7. Graet segment. Cornette showing up on WCW TV and trashing the company is awesome, but they blipped some stuff about Jim Herd and such. Nice inpromptu match in zubaz. This is some interpromotionnal wrestling TV there. Too bad it got squashed before it could get really good. The Bodies in WWF never amounted to anything, but in WCW as outsiders they would have been awesome.
  8. You don't say. Clarke has made quite a bit of progress since he showed up in 1990 in WCW. With his look and impressive moves, I really never got why he was never pushed hard in WWF. Nice little TV match, good angle at the end, although the whole confederate flag waving babyface is still kinda odd to watch.
  9. Another really good TV match. From the day he turned heel, Windham became the best wrestler on TV.
  10. Fuck. Hopefully the King gets his way through this.
  11. So terrible it's great. Cheatum the eveil midget is back, his "play the game" line is actually edited twice. Vader's harem looks pretty cool. Harley Race is a godawful actor (which doesn't surprise me, he's a shitty promo anyway). This is so early 90's cheesy.
  12. Excellent match. Vader does a great job cutting off the hope spots, the crowd is eating this shit up.
  13. Really good match, and you gotta love Windham crashing the party. His Implant DDT was terrific looking.
  14. I always enjoy babyface matches where the tempers go off. They do a nice job building up the intensity. This screams rematch.
  15. I never knew Watts brought in Regal as a straight face. Odd to see. I agree things looked much better in early 1993, the TV was getting really good again.
  16. Too much dead weight for this to be a good match, although getting rid of Killer Kyle right away was nice. Golden has showed me exactly zilch in the ring since I began watching SMW. Too few of DWB vs Tracey at the end, but it's a way to kick off their feud. Mantell is awesome on color though.
  17. Arn is a trooper to go along such nonsense. Erik just doesn't have anything.

    Top 100 List

I don't remember Bammer being lazy in ECW. When would you say he was ? (I still think he was kinda underwhelming though, just like pretty much everywhere I can think of. Bubba certainly has a lot more memorable matches, but after 95 there wasn't much left in Bubba it seems. I'd take Bubba over Bam Bam probably for peak, but Bam Bam was pretty much alway fun to watch unlike Bubba, whose last runs in WCW after 95 and WWF were plain bad)
  19. Really good match. Austin, Pillman and Douglas really look like the future of wrestling here. Dumb WCW, they had it all.
  20. I liked how Vader was put over as an athlete as opposed to a freak show like he would have in WWF during the Hogan era. Even low-key, Vader is intimidating. Good stuff, and glad the title went back to him after the failed Simmons experiment. Good way to re-establish a hierarchy for the new year.
  21. Excellent TV match, strong on selling and storytelling. Those two were the two most solid wrestlers on the roster at the time, and although it's not a spectacular match in term of spots or action, it's spectacular in term of how fluid it came down. Really surprised by the DQ ending, especially since as soon as the ref bump happened I though Barry would win after some cheating and go against Dustin in the final. I guess it was a way of tricking the audience into thinking they were gonna get a screwjob finish. Nice unpredictability. Douglas in zubaz is so early 90's.
  22. I really enjoyed those Up Close segment. Like it's been said, not too long, just the right time to make a point come across, and Arn is great at being serious and realistic.
  23. What do you guys think ? Seems like there's some shady stuff still happening with some "benefit" shows I guess. I wasn't aware of Kamala's health. This sucks.
  24. I dunno. I think Badstreet was a rather shitty theme. Doesn't help of course that the Freebirds were often a rather shitty team too at this point. Well, they have no excuse.
