I'm only halfway through, but I want to pop in and say I don't have an issue with the fifteen years and you're gone rule. I don't necessarily think Houston Mitchell was saying that if someone isn't included on a voter's ballot, that means the voter doesn't think they are HOF-worthy. However, even if that is what he was going for, that doesn't change the fact that if Dick Murdoch is on the ballot for fifteen straight years without getting over sixty percent, and then in his fifteenth year falls below fifty percent, he probably has gone as far as he is going to. Even if voters think "He deserves to be in, but he just can't fit on my ballot this year", they've had fifteen years to include him. Can't keep guys around forever on the off chance that voters will be enlightened years down the line and change their minds due to new information. On the other hand, at this point the historical wrestler category will just become the Veterans Committee of the WON Hall so I do think that the fifteen year rule shouldn't apply towards that. For example, if Pedro Morales gets 40 percent this year, he should be gone for a bit, but allowed to be put back on in 2-3 years if the demand is there. No one should be off the ballot forever.

Before I was introduced to internet wrestling fan opinions, I never saw Monsoon or Fuji as being anything less than average/good. When I look back I do notice their flaws more, but at the same time that doesn't really change how I initially saw them. I find them both enjoyable. On the other hand, I never saw Haku as being anything more than a JTTS loser in WWF so it may go both ways.

So today is the end of the initial six month period for the Network. Is anyone not renewing, or at least not renewing right away? I think I'm going to go without it for at least two weeks and see if any improvements occur while I'm away. I was hoping they'd ramp up new content or at least new classic stuff at this point, but there doesn't seem to be anything different coming up before the end of the month. Maybe they're waiting for Night of the Champions...

So one of those current WWE employees who used racist terms has to be Arn Anderson, right? Or Johnny Ace even?

Don't know if it was posted here yet, but the Del Rio situation apparently happened because the social media guy made a racist joke about him and when Del Rio found out and confronted him, the guy smiled, laughed in his face, and didn't apologize.

Why aren't those awesome sounding Summerslam Confidential panels going to be on the Network? -
Good Will Wrestling: Fixing the WWE Network Part Two
Beast replied to soup23's topic in Publications and Podcasts
This show was so good that I feel like never turning on the Network again. Some of those ideas were so basic that it's unfathomable that in the first 6 months WWE implemented exactly none. -
But you can also just rewind up to an hour or so on the live stream (on a computer at least) so basically whenever you tune in you can check what they aired during that quarter hour period.

Just saw the William Regal: In His Own Words mini-feature. Quite good like Dustin's. Wonder if there will be any more of these.

It seemed like everyone was working hard and that a lot of great hard-hitting action was going on, but due to the "refer-eye" camera shots, shots from outside the cage, and way too much going on at once (both wrestlers and gimmicks) this definitely deserves its label as "Wrestlecrap". Even just for the horrible ending with Cactus delayed switch hitting. Sad part is 75 percent of the participants were capable of putting on an all-time classic brawl.

I was pleasantly surprised by this match... Heard it was the exception that proved the Flair broomstick rule, but I kind of liked it. Felt shorter than 6 minutes and while Flair's superb bumps didn't actually convince me that JYD was a threat, I found the match as a whole fun. It was like a Flair from a better match was transported into the ring with the Dog and didn't realize it. It's a good thing it didn't go longer, but for what it was I didn't have too much of a problem with it. Now, if its reputation mostly comes from the booking of Flair and the rest of the Horsemen right before the Bash, I agree they look harmless. Maybe if Orndorff, JYD, and Gigante were swapped out for the Steiners and Pillman, this would be remembered more fondly. Or if the Horseman did a typical beatdown on JYD to end the show.

Dylan, do you have your huge list of wrestlers with better years than HHH's 2000 around anywhere? Was lost in the DVDVR board crash last year, but I remember a lot of interesting choices there.

Coincidentally,Benoit's first title program after winning at Wrestlemania ten years ago was also Kane.
-
I wasn't impressed with the Warrior bio, not much new info on him or the weekend. I resubscribed Friday and so far Dave's Leather Jacket hasn't popped up on the board. It's a stickied thread in the Pro Wrestling section.

Agreed with the general consensus. She needs to have suckered AJ into a match, not accidentally stumbled into one and lucked out.

I'm more concerned with what happens if the live 'Mania stream is a bust. Yes, we get a ton of content for 10.99, but the PPVs (Mania in particular) are a huge selling point. I know a lot of people are choosing to just order the PPV in case, but if I pay for Mania on the network I should be able to watch a relatively decent quality show without worry of skipping, choppiness, or just flat out missing entire chunks. An extra month free with the promise of improved PPV streaming quality down the line would be appropriate in my opinion, but I hope WWE plans on at least making some sort of retribution other than "It's up on demand immediately following the live show, watch it anytime you want!"

Wanted to add that this issue contains what Jim Crockett's original plan for Clash Of The Champions V was... Main Event of the Road Warriors and Tenryu vs. Ron Simmons, Junkyard Dog, and Steve Casey Midnight Express vs. Al Perez/Larry Zbyszko Eddie Gilbert vs. The Italian Stallion Texas Broncos (Dustin Rhodes/Kendall Windham) vs. The Russian Assassins And one more undetermined match. Obviously, TBS found that unacceptable and turned it down immediately. As I was writing this up, I checked out the actual card and this doesn't seem that crazy. I did not realize that this Clash actually had a 6-man with the Warriors and Tenryu vs. The Varsity Club as a main. Wow.

Yeah I watched Stampede for the first time all the way through on the Network yesterday and that match was MOTN for me. I'm curious if that's his best singles performance overall careerwise for most. The vast majority of his highly rated matches (Meltzer-wise at least) are all tag or multi-man matches with just the Buck match, Vader Clash, Austin Havoc, and Anderson Havoc matches getting over 3 stars for 1 on 1.

Wish the "Dustin of the Day" write ups were still available, been almost a decade since they disappeared. I am curious as to what people think of as Dustin/Goldust's best match or performance. Even if it's something totally obvious and popular, I'd like to hear what each of you think of as being his definitive moment.

Frustrating that the first WCCW episodes aren't in consecutive order. At least four posted right now (if you go through the schedule) and while two are back to back, there's also one that takes place one month earlier and one that takes place one month later. Same with the ECW Hardcore TV episodes from 1993-1994. Looks to be about 10, all spaced around a month apart. The Raw flashbacks are in order through May of 1993, how hard would it have been to do that for every TV show?

Wrestling With the Past 10 The Great HHH Debate
Beast replied to bradhindsight's topic in Publications and Podcasts
Only about an hour in, but I love how it was brought up that besides the "burying" talk that always goes along with HHH, he really hasn't elevated too many people. The Rock was elevated alongside him and then later on he basically dragged Orton and Batista up to the main event, but otherwise he's left a trail of "they don't have IT" behind him. That's why I have no qualms about Punk quitting. He had a feud with HHH back in 2011 and HHH thought the best storyline would be him beating Punk. I'm sure that's not the only reason Punk left so close to Wrestlemania, but even it was it's understandable. I haven't kept up with this board's opinion on the Bryan/Rumble incident, but I'm not getting the "See, it's a long-term storyline building up Bryan as an underdog". There is literally none (or very little) evidence of long-term planning like that being done on purpose by Vince and HHH. HHH is gonna have to show something different on either side of the ring for me to give him the benefit of the doubt on things like this. -
Good Will Wrestling: WWE Network Reaction
Beast replied to Loss's topic in Publications and Podcasts
I can't imagine them not having at least something like ECW, WCCW, or AWA up to fill out some of that Vault space. Do they really expect people to be that over the moon about a top 10 countdown on Best Entrances?
