  1. CMLL gets no coverage on most newz sites. AAA had some for Triplemania, but you never see anything about CMLL. Past people in rural Georgia, I think most wrestling fans in 2015 read these sites at least casually, so CMLL is just way under the radar.
  2. I wasn't really referring to the title style as the brunt of what CMLL puts on is non-title trios. I do agree that title matches are usually 1.) feeling out process leading to a fall after a few minutes 2.) a very quick segunda usually with a flash pin, and 3.) 10+ mins of bombs/dives/near-falls with laying around selling. So that I agree with. It's just that most of what CMLL's output isn't title matches and I think a lot of their trios matches aren't worked in the Dragon Lee/Kamaitachi way. That's what I was referring to.

    Arn Anderson

They will be very close on my list, as things are now. I don't know if Arn makes it over Flair though.
  4. Also, and I could be wrong on this, but I think that the biggest draw in Arena Mexico is nostalgia. So long as that's the case, this will be more of a welcome blip and a momentary change of pace.
  5. It's fine because it's off to the side. It was the same thing with the Busca last year. Yeah, people were going nuts for it and just by looking at the online fan reaction, it could have screwed up the whole house style, but at the same time there were a bunch of matches up and down the card that had the traditional CMLL feel and once it was over, that became far the norm, to the point where I almost feel like they were trying to work all the Busca matches far more traditionally this year. It's CMLL. Old Faithful for good or ill.
  6. And the masked bodyguard Hairchest.
  7. There is a precedent set by WWE itself because I've seen them play matches they don't own that were sent to other territories (like the Empty Arena Lawler/Funk match) on the old WWE Classics 24/7 cable on demand service. Although I'd err on the side of caution just because they are petty as hell. Calm down though Matt_D those sound like AWA TV squash matches sent to Houston to hype up Bock. Bock can't be hyped enough.
  8. That Hunter one might be from 80. Both are new to me though, so I'll be glad to see them!
  9. I feel like this is pretty much the only Bockwinkel footage we have from the 60s:
  10. This isn't specifically Classics related but due to the exposure to Boesch as a personality that we've gotten from his commentary, things like the Guerrero promo, and reading a few threads on kayfabememories about him, i decided to pick up the kindle version of his war memoir. I'm a quarter of the way through. Obviously there's really no wrestling content in it, but on its own, it's very gripping, especially if you can find his very specific voice in it. I'll admit that I haven't really been able to as of yet, mainly due to the striking nature of the content. Anyone with even a passing interesting in World War II should check it out.
  11. Work firewall has decided to laugh at my attempts of joining up while here. I blame your Marc Mero comment.
  12. I watched the Street/Linda vs Dundee match and loved it. One of the best handicap matches ever. The story was so simple. Anytime that Dundee had an advantage against Street, Linda interfered. Anytime that he went after Linda, Street took over on him. He had to fight on two fronts and try to fight out of a corner and the build just kept ramping up and up until he finally was able to counter her attack long enough to force the heel miscommunication. Even then, he lost the war. Great stuff.
  13. I got a few minutes into this and realized I hadn't heard the last 95 one yet, so I had to go back to there.
  14. There's a lot of exciting stuff on that list, absolutely. I'm really curious about the 3 - Nick Bockwinkle vs. Tito Santana / 11-20-81 card in general since I think that was the gold cup that Boesch ran to celebrate his 50th year in wrestling.
  15. Psst, Bruce. My monthly sub just rolled over again. In honor of that, can I request a Bockwinkel match soon. I don't think we've gotten one yet.
  16. Only Steven is allowed to hate fake statistics.
  17. Watched the Gordman match. I like him a lot, especially on offense (though the trap hold went a bit long/uninterestingly). How crazy were the two STOs? And then there's the DDT. Not at all a fluke. He did it in the 60s black and white footage i saw with Santo. He did it in the 77 match with Choshu/Inoki and he did it here and Boesch even pointed out it was one of his favorite holds. Roberts was in and out of Houston at this time. That whole story is debunked now. It wasn't some sort of accident that caught on. I know all wrestling is BS but that's especially so.
  18. I figure there's at least a 40% chance it's Kane, so I'm looking forward the possibility of hat-eating-pictures.
  19. It's a damn shame that I don't know the name of a 1980s Japanese Actress of note or else I could make a Molly Ringwald joke.
  20. Right now I figure it's going to be Kane.
  21. As said elsewhere on this board, that's the sort of mindset that's going to leave them in big trouble in a few years.
  22. I love how smoothly Andre slipped into that role. We had some idea that he could from some of the early 70s 2/3 fall matches in Japan but this was so blatant. A NWA title match from that era really brings forth a certain style and on paper, he's not a guy that you think would do that, and he absolutely did, while putting his own spin on it. Andre's awesome. For a guy who could have just coasted on his size, he was so good.
  23. Someone asked the Bellas about Grado at a media event in the last week I think. I know I saw a quick video clip.
  24. It's an absolutely great match, no doubt, and up there with the Cowabunga match as the best Cornette performance I've ever seen.
  25. I loved the moment when Eaton conducted the "two" chants during the beat down on Mr. wrestling II.
