  1. TMZ reporting it http://t.co/9QefnKAC0G God damn, this past couple of months can fuck right off, if true.
  2. Oh my god, Will's Taker rant Absolutely nothing to disagree with though, especially the part about "picking that old fucker up, dropping him with an F5 and taking his World Title" Great show.
  3. Out of all the fucking terrible finishes/booking that they've done since these shows came on the Network, this is nowhere near as bad as the time they bait and switched everyone with Rollins vs. Ambrose when it was the one match people wanted to see. Though my reaction to Taker was just continued laughter. Taker was beaten fair and square at Mania so he has nothing to seek but pride. Also, why has he waited 18 months?
  4. "Taken by one of the world's top photographers" means this is a steal at $9.95!
  5. "The question I get asked the most is-" "How long can a man live without a brain? How old are you, Dave?" The audience losing it at Lawler's wise cracks really makes these kind of segments even better.
  6. "If you drink the sweat from the devil's armpit!" is a line that could only have been uttered in the build-up to this match. Jesus, these promos are ludicrous
  7. Awesome Billy Joe Travis Touch #500: Shouting "HELP ME, KING!" as Jarrett whips him into the ropes. I need all the Billy Travis I can get.
  8. Just powered through January and this has been great so far. WCW clearly leading the way with some great TV matches and every interaction between Arn Anderson and Buzz Sawyer has been brilliant and Flair/Eaton is probably the standout match from the first disc. But, for me, the stuff I've been enjoying the most has been the USWA footage and, in particular, anything with Lawler and Billy Joe Travis. This Lawler stuff is new to me and god damn is he ever killing it as a heel. I love the phone gag running throughout the month and his constant back and forth with Dave Brown is awesome. But, Billy Joe Travis, holy shit. The Guitar on a Pole with Jarrett is incredible; the way he bumps around is crazy and he's not afraid to lay it in too. I haven't looked much further into the set listings but I'm way ready for more of him. I'm disappointed by how little I like the WWF stuff though. It's what I'm most familiar with, along with All Japan and WCW, I'm not enjoying it as I am those. I've never seen the appeal in Hogan and Warrior so I'm not looking forward to the next few discs with their work. Still, WWF did have the Valentine/Garvin match and the Rockers/PoP tag and Savage, Roberts and Dibiase are all bringing the goods so it's not like they're not holding up their end of the bargain. As an aside, did the supplemental sets ever get compiled? I'm interested in seeing what USWA matches made the cut, if any.
  9. I agree that this is probably the weakest WWF match on the set thus far but it's still really fun, exclusively for Perfect and Genius who just throw themselves around for Hogan and Warrior's offense. I loved all of Genius' antics on the apron; taking notes, prancing around to anger Warrior and in the end, the heel's arrogance costs them. More heelish Hoganisms as he tags himself in during Warrior's hot tag and a decent angle to start the build to Mania. An effective segment but probably the weakest tag this month.
  10. I've forgot to comment on each thread as I'm going but the one thing I love about the Funk's Grill segments are Terry's little looks to the camera. It's like he's channeling Oliver Hardy with each one of them.
  11. Hell of a way to start. Everyone involved getting so into this is what makes it entertaining. Finlay, in particular, is having the time of his life in that crowd shot.

    Rusev

I was watching an episode of Raw from 2008 where the camera zoomed in on HHH doing one of his lame angry faces and it was not a pleasant experience.

Hang tight, El-P. By my reckoning, you're about 4 shows away from Big Show and Heyman leaving and 10 shows away from The New Breed beginning where the show actually becomes watchable.
  14. 95% of the UK PPVs had very little going for them. Glorified house shows really and the workers tended to put in performances to match. I was treated to a 20 minute Kevin Nash vs. HHH street fight at Insurrextion 2003 which was a fitting way for them to end the idea of UK PPVs.
  15. Yeah, that was a real helpful few posts, thanks!
  16. I thought this was a really good show and a great example of what this roster could do with two hour Raws. The presentation felt different; you had the spot heavy opener, the Brock squash, the Balor title win and the Saturday Night's Main Event main with the Cena win. Imagine that kind of tightness with WWEs three hour nonsense.
  17. Liked the Neville/Jericho opener but I loved Lesnar's jean and boot combo more. Lesnar nailing the touring American in Japan circa 1986 look.

    WWE TV 6/29 - 7/5

Wrestlemania cards for the past few years have been purely nostalgia-driven because they don't know how to book compelling top guys anymore. Makes sense that the ratings would drop when the one top guy they do push is doing a Triple H 2002 tribute act. Right when the ratings plummeted last time. Rollins may be the least compelling guy on the roster.
  19. I've been dipping back into some WWE shows from summer 2013 and it's ridiculous how over Bryan is. No matter who is at fault (and you can make the case for both parties), they really had something with him until they went one bullshit finish too far in his matches with Orton. You listen to that Summerslam crowd and they're ready to anoint him as king of the known universe. It'll really suck if he has to retire but if it's beneficial to his health, then there's really no other option. But man, Bryan could have been it, man. Imagine Bryan vs. Lesnar. I'm giddy just imagining it.
  20. I haven't watched it in a while but I remember the 2011 Elimination Chamber having another great Rey performance.
  21. So, tonight's episode of Impact is going to have some crazy shit go down if Twitter is to be believed...
  22. Is Barrett on the way out?
  23. Awesome! Excited to dig into this when I have time. Sure you guys will do a hell of a tribute.
  24. Well, this fucking sucks. Completely shocked. RIP.
