Woods is incredibly quick on his feet. You watch him in any other setting and you can see that. I think Big E with Woods as his manager is money waiting to happen.

Pulling back from "stars", I'd think the likes of Big E, Cesaro, Balor etc will be floating around the top of the card. I expect Ambrose to have so much raw charisma that he makes it. I think Wyatt will have a run with the belt also. As for full blown stars, did anyone predict Daniel Bryan's ludicrous rise to the top in late 2013? Shit, it's almost possible that Jimmy Uso could get over huge ala Jeff Hardy.

I'm happy with The Dudleys being back because it results in The New Day having fresh guys to play off. Why aren't these things on TV?!!! I know they have to have those precious web hits but these kind of sit-down interviews would be a welcome breather on TV. I guess they wouldn't be so much fun for the people in attendance but they'd go some ways to helping feuds get over. Not everyone is as entertaining as The New Day, granted. Shit, you could just make it a live in-ring interview segment.

NXT gained such momentum from being a simple, well booked product and now it's selling out 16,000 seater arenas. I wonder if that'll trickle down to the main shows. Book it well and they will come?

Man, it's so disappointing that Joe never got to work on the main stage when he was in his prime.

Corbin as the hater of indie wrestling is the perfect NXT heel gimmick.

I'm laughing my ass off at that low-rent Michael Cole on commentary.

For all the talk of a renewed brand split, is NXT the new Smackdown? Do WWE go pillage Evolve etc. to fill NXT up? I've clearly missed the last 6 months of discussion but a "development territory" getting this kind of crowd sets the mind running. EDIT: Has WWE really sold out an arena around a Prince Devitt/Kevin Steen ladder match? That's fucking awesome!

Shit, I'm so removed from WWE, I didn't even know they'd sold out tonight. That's pretty fucking crazy, no matter how you dress it up.

[1990-03-30-USWA Texas] Jimmy Valiant vs Billy Joe Travis
Stiva replied to Loss's topic in March 1990
Billy Joe Travis is my favourite wrestler. Great bumping for Valient and just a general tremendous worker. He's the lost worker of the early 90s- 16 replies

I'd be up for this on certain nights, yeah. Not sure I'll get a ballot fired out but I'm down for seeing stuff by workers I'm not familiar with.

I was talking on Facebook about racism in WWE today, over the Hulk Hogan stuff. Someone posted the Wrestlemania picture of Roddy Piper painted half black from his match with Bad News Brown. I went from laughing at that to three minutes later seeing he had died. It was pretty surreal. That promo was the last thing I watched on the 90's Yearbook so yeah, surreal timing here too.

TMZ reporting it http://t.co/9QefnKAC0G God damn, this past couple of months can fuck right off, if true.

Oh my god, Will's Taker rant Absolutely nothing to disagree with though, especially the part about "picking that old fucker up, dropping him with an F5 and taking his World Title" Great show.
-
Out of all the fucking terrible finishes/booking that they've done since these shows came on the Network, this is nowhere near as bad as the time they bait and switched everyone with Rollins vs. Ambrose when it was the one match people wanted to see. Though my reaction to Taker was just continued laughter. Taker was beaten fair and square at Mania so he has nothing to seek but pride. Also, why has he waited 18 months?

"The question I get asked the most is-" "How long can a man live without a brain? How old are you, Dave?" The audience losing it at Lawler's wise cracks really makes these kind of segments even better.

[1990-02-10-WWF-Superstars] Wrestlemania VI Report w/Gene Okerlund

"If you drink the sweat from the devil's armpit!" is a line that could only have been uttered in the build-up to this match. Jesus, these promos are ludicrous -

Just powered through January and this has been great so far. WCW clearly leading the way with some great TV matches and every interaction between Arn Anderson and Buzz Sawyer has been brilliant and Flair/Eaton is probably the standout match from the first disc. But, for me, the stuff I've been enjoying the most has been the USWA footage and, in particular, anything with Lawler and Billy Joe Travis. This Lawler stuff is new to me and god damn is he ever killing it as a heel. I love the phone gag running throughout the month and his constant back and forth with Dave Brown is awesome. But, Billy Joe Travis, holy shit. The Guitar on a Pole with Jarrett is incredible; the way he bumps around is crazy and he's not afraid to lay it in too. I haven't looked much further into the set listings but I'm way ready for more of him. I'm disappointed by how little I like the WWF stuff though. It's what I'm most familiar with, along with All Japan and WCW, I'm not enjoying it as I am those. I've never seen the appeal in Hogan and Warrior so I'm not looking forward to the next few discs with their work. Still, WWF did have the Valentine/Garvin match and the Rockers/PoP tag and Savage, Roberts and Dibiase are all bringing the goods so it's not like they're not holding up their end of the bargain. As an aside, did the supplemental sets ever get compiled? I'm interested in seeing what USWA matches made the cut, if any.
-
I agree that this is probably the weakest WWF match on the set thus far but it's still really fun, exclusively for Perfect and Genius who just throw themselves around for Hogan and Warrior's offense. I loved all of Genius' antics on the apron; taking notes, prancing around to anger Warrior and in the end, the heel's arrogance costs them. More heelish Hoganisms as he tags himself in during Warrior's hot tag and a decent angle to start the build to Mania. An effective segment but probably the weakest tag this month.

[1990-01-27-NWA-Worldwide] Funk's Grill: Theodore R. Long & Mark Callous
Stiva replied to Loss's topic in January 1990
I've forgot to comment on each thread as I'm going but the one thing I love about the Funk's Grill segments are Terry's little looks to the camera. It's like he's channeling Oliver Hardy with each one of them. -
Hell of a way to start. Everyone involved getting so into this is what makes it entertaining. Finlay, in particular, is having the time of his life in that crowd shot.
