Badlittlekitten
Good grief, the conclusion to the Chigusa Nagayo vs Dump Matsumoto hair match is uncomfortable to watch. I except that one of the points of a wrestling match is to manipulate the viewers emotions but this was maybe done too well here, almost to the point of emotional porn. And no, if the crowd was anything other than thousands of crying schoolgirls it wouldn't bother me. But damn, that's the intention and here it is. Chigusa goes on to get her comeuppance right? RIGHT? rovert
The British Wrestling documentary for BBC4 TV over here looks really great: http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b01p96ly Thursdays at 9pm and repeated during the week also. The old footage looks really impressive. 4 clips are included in the above link - hopefully without any region blocking: http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p0127b6q http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p01279my http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p0127975 http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p01278xv
S.L.L.
F4Wonline.com: --Mike Boyette, a headliner for Gulf Coast Championship Wrestling in the 70s and best known by 80s fans for doing a losing streak gimmick in the Eddie Gilbert-booked UWF, passed away this past week after a lengthy illness. But, of course, he's best known to me for this.... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mFJDLb9c7kE Rest in peace.

Dump was the one who would get her comeuppance, since she won the first one. There are a lot of things in pro wrestling that I've found uncomfortable. Dump-Chigusa wasn't one of them. kjh
Zach Arnold on Kenta Kobashi's retirement: http://sportsnavi.yahoo.co.jp/fight/headli...-dal-fight.html Kobashi told the fans at the show that he will have a retirement match in 2013. Multiple outlets report that the goal is to have the last fight at Nippon Budokan. Kobashi revealed that he had surgery last July but rehab didn't go as well as hoped and that it was impossible for him to return to action on a regular basis. He was emotional about the fact that wrestling is his life but that he would have to retire soon. **** Notes from Kobashi's in-ring interview today at Ryogoku: - All the fans were crying when they heard Kobashi talk about retirement. - Kobashi's had numbness issues with his left arm and left leg for four years. - He has problems with his knees, neck, hips, elbows, and shoulders. He admitted that his body is entirely damaged due to all the matches he's been involved in. - Kobashi's biggest regret in the retirement decision is that the news came out in Tokyo Sports and that he didn't have a chance to deliver the news on his own terms. - A retirement match plan will likely be discussed in a couple of weeks at the NOAH Differ Ariake event. - Kobashi had surgery at the end of July, right after Takeshi Rikio's retirement ceremony at Ryogoku. The surgery in question is believed to be anterior cervical fusion surgery, which involves a transplant of some pelvic bone into the neck. He had the surgery, had an accident with a cracked pelvis that delayed rehab, and a piece of ceramic was used. Ceramic usage is not entirely uncommon with this kind of surgery. - His body isn't responding the way he would like to in terms of rehab and it has limited his training. He is only starting light training now. It will likely be until Spring 2013 before a real determination can be made for the retirement bout. El-P
The big news to me isn't Kobashi's retirement, which is both long overdue and way expected at this point. The big news is that Zach Arnold is still doing wrestling coverage in 2012.

Don't get the facts in the way of a good story I guess. I'm not an expert at all on WWF 1980, but, man, hearing that Backkund couldn't draw a dime and nobody cared about Bob... Hum, what ? Zbyszko is a great storyteller though.
