So they tried again to turn .Batista face on SD again and to no surprise it didn't work. He ends of squashing Dolph. We're almost reaching Theater of the Absurd levels here where it's becoming oddly entertaining. I just hope this is all crotchety Vince because otherwhise it's less fun and more soul crushing

I don't think there would be a less likely way for Batista to turn face to the people who are booing him than by having him squash Dolph Ziggler, short of squashing Bryan or Punk.

EDIT: Reading the spoilers, it sounds more like deliberately booking him as the heel, rather than trying to make him John Cena Mk II:

Batista started out the show with mixed boos and cheers. Batista started off by saying "I love this business and company." He said he did not come back to be liked. A huge C.M. Punk chant broke out. He said you don't have to support him, but you gotta deal with it. He said it's a fact he can destroy anyone they put in front of him. A small Daniel Bryan chant started and died quickly.

Batista asked what the hell happened to this business, the real men, the attitude. A huge Yes! chant broke out. He said if the fans honestly think their heroes are as good as him they need to get out of their fantasy world and to get out of his. He said he would destroy each of our heroes on his way to WrestleMania where he will become the WWE World Heavyweight Champion.

Out came Dolph Ziggler. A "Let's Go Ziggler" chant broke out. Ziggler started out by saying, "You don't tell these people who to cheer for" and that they cheer for who they want. He said Batista is a dinosaur and sooner or later they become extinct. Ziggler said he wants a match with Batista tonight. Batista said he wanted it he would get it. Ziggler dropkicked him and walked away.

...

Batista beat Dolph Ziggler. Dolph with fast offense to start. Batista got in the face of a fan wearing the clown wig. A boring chant started, then a C.M. Punk chant (which I started, ha). This is a slow match. There were a couple spine busters in a row from Batista, who was generating serious heat by taunting the WWE Universe. Batista performed the Batista Bomb for the win.

These all seems like the WWE turning Batista heel very soon.

now Mike Johnson is reporting that Batista is turning heel for real. Again conflicting with Meltz which has been common lately.

from Scoot's blog:

The decision to turn Batista heel was made after the Elimination Chamber PPV due to the reaction he received from the crowd. Orignally for last night, Batista was scheduled to turn heel and rip apart the fans after losing to Alberto Del Rio and being called out by Randy Orton about the fans not liking him, which would lead to him going nuts and acting like an animal. At the last second, the decision was made to have him appear on Smackdown for a few segments. For those wondering, even before the crowds turned on Batista, he was scheduled to turn heel at some point this year.

How much of this Batista push has to do with the fact that he has a couple of movies coming out this year? I don't think either are WWE productions, but still...

I think the company's non-stop shilling (Hogan plugging the Network felt a lot like those commercials where the Fonz pimps reverse mortgages) is at least as big a problem as its booking. Especially when the shilling drives the booking.

If Batista is really turning heel they will have to add someone else to the title match. Knowing WWE they will see this as a golden opportunity to run a 'double turn' Wrestlemania main event with Randy Orton ending the show with a glorious face coronation after finally proving he is the man.

In my dreams, Daniel Bryan defeats Triple-H, gets added to the main event and wins the strap.

I'm glad to hear they are turning him heel. A heel Batista does have real potential, especially in contrast with Bryan.

I agree plus Batista is just more fun as a heel. To me at least. His "spotlight" character right before he left was great & judging by RAW, it seems they're going that direction again.

Batista also, from what I read, signed a 2-year deal. So that's not just a promote a movie & leave contract.

Also, Randy Orton was clamoring forever to turn heel again last time he was babyface, so I can't imagine he'd be OK with turning face again so soon.

Brock/Bryan has the makings to be such an awesome match. Brock has shown that if he has someone good to work with (Cena, Punk) he can still really go. They could work a similar formula to the Eddie/Brock matches if they want and it would be killer.

idk Loss, I always hated him. I barely watched wrestling during his run, though.

I never had love for Orton either, but he's become such a solid worker that it's hard to put him down anymore. I can't recall any of Batista's work that jumped out at me in a positive way.

Are there any exceptional Batista performances?

Was his initial run successful enough to suggest he's a big enough star to win the Rumble and headline WrestleMania after hiatus?

You know in a strange way Dave/Orton is a really cool setup for a Mania M.E. Course they didn't set it up to be Heel vs. Heel(or did they, watching the Chamber now and whoever booked/agented that show is a genius. Double A I'm sure helped). They really are going to let the crowd do their thing at Mania.

I for one am a strong proponent that the WWE world title(especially the 1st year that its undisputed) should main event, NO matter what. So what if the fans go crazy, it'll be a memory like Brock/Berg. If not...that's much much worse. That's when you enter Jericho/H & Orton/H levels, and this match does have that possibility.

From the way things are going it seems Hunter and Stephanie will align with Batista when he becomes champ at Mania and becomes the dreaded "new face of WWE" good luck with trying to turn Orton though. Hopefully the plan will be for Bryan to finally get the title in the spring/summer after chasing him. Not ideal and it's going to make for a surreal/depressing Mania but of course they booked themselves into a never ending corner here. Hopefully they get rid of the Authority storyline during all of that stuff. After a strong start it's just doing circles now. It really needs to go before the summer at least

Alvarez going on and on how there's no way Triple H won't put Bryan over at WM last night on the B&V show was hilarious. He was seriously using Hunter's 8-9 WM record as proof, even after listing all the losses were either to friends of his or the Undertaker. I agree that the booking of the program with DB doesn't make sense if Hunter wins at the end, but that's never stopped him before.

No, this has been proven incorrect so many times.

They should play up Orton's last few months and basically make him a Pariah in the locker room, sort of a crazy Crow Sting/early 98 Randy Savage force for chaos.
