(BP) Posted June 23, 2014 Report Posted June 23, 2014 I wasn't even aware they'd done away with it. Was there any foundation to the rumor that Punk dropped the world title to the Undertaker in 09 because he bitched about dress code exemptions?
Strummer Posted June 23, 2014 Report Posted June 23, 2014 pretty sure yeah. That Punk/Undertaker feud in 09 was so terrible. Heyman, who was not with the company at the time, wrote on his website about how awful the whole thing was and also, man it's hard not to like this guy lately... https://twitter.com/TripleH/status/481131098475606017
Matt D Posted June 23, 2014 Report Posted June 23, 2014 I got way too much of a kick of randomly walking down a street in DC today and seeing the Exotic Express. I forgot they were here tonight.
Fantastic Posted June 23, 2014 Report Posted June 23, 2014 Was there any foundation to the rumor that Punk dropped the world title to the Undertaker in 09 because he bitched about dress code exemptions? Didn't Dave Meltzer and others go into detail about it? If I recall correctly, apparently Undertaker went to Punk and suggested that he smartened himself up and started wearing suits when making public appearances as champion, or something to that effect. Punk countered and said something about Jeff Hardy and John Cena not being subject to this rule, and this was where it went to shit apparently. The thing is that Punk was still considered a rising star at this point, and not on the level of the likes of Jeff Hardy or John Cena. His counter was perceived as him suggesting that he was comparable to them, and this warranted humbling apparently, and loss of the title. Ironically, a program with a star of Undertaker's caliber can hardly be considered a humbling.
goc Posted June 23, 2014 Report Posted June 23, 2014 But Punk looked like shit coming out of that feud and it took him a long time to get back to the level he was at before that.
Strummer Posted June 24, 2014 Report Posted June 24, 2014 Jesus that was awkward. Steph at least put Eddy over. Good lord this company sometimes
Strummer Posted June 24, 2014 Report Posted June 24, 2014 Maybe it's me but Steph seemed uncomfortable doing that. She went out of her way to put Eddy over with that line
Strummer Posted June 24, 2014 Report Posted June 24, 2014 Poor Brie Bella. Everyone thought this match would be hers. This is Steph's first match in 11 years btw
Bix Posted June 24, 2014 Report Posted June 24, 2014 I thought they actually did a tremendous job laying out the opening segment to get the proper crowd reaction. Vickie's near turns haven't always gotten the desired response.
Blehschmidt Posted June 24, 2014 Report Posted June 24, 2014 New music for Harper and Rowan is awful.
tim Posted June 24, 2014 Report Posted June 24, 2014 I thought they actually did a tremendous job laying out the opening segment to get the proper crowd reaction. Vickie's near turns haven't always gotten the desired response. Agreed, I loved her fighting back at the end. I'm into this match.
Strummer Posted June 24, 2014 Report Posted June 24, 2014 That's probably why they brought up Eddy. To make sure Vickie was cheered. I don't know it was awkward. Stuff like this bothers me more now than when the company did this in the past. Maybe they have Brie run in
cm funk Posted June 24, 2014 Report Posted June 24, 2014 But Punk looked like shit coming out of that feud and it took him a long time to get back to the level he was at before that. Yeah. Punk was red hot after the Jeff Hardy feud and they went out of their way to squash him and job him out and position him like he wasn't on the same level of the real stars. He recovered and overcame it, but they really booked him like a chump who had business being champion
goc Posted June 24, 2014 Report Posted June 24, 2014 I like Bo Dallas and all but I'm very unhappy about this usage of Titus O'Neil.
Bierschwale Posted June 24, 2014 Report Posted June 24, 2014 New music for Harper and Rowan is awful. Yeah, my lord. Did they lose the rights to "Live in Fear"?
hammerva Posted June 24, 2014 Report Posted June 24, 2014 I like Bo Dallas and all but I'm very unhappy about this usage of Titus O'Neil. Pretty much conceded that the only way to see a good Titus O Neil match is to watch Superstars on the Network. His two matches against Big E were really hard hitting battles It seems we are getting a reverse HonkyTonk Man situtation with Bo Dallas. It is clear he is supposed to be the heel with his antics and how the only guy in commentary that likes him is JBL but he is winning fans over with his goofiness and how great he is at being goofy
Strummer Posted June 24, 2014 Report Posted June 24, 2014 Man Hunter is cracking me up. Him about to say .rvd was the favorite to win was great
Strummer Posted June 24, 2014 Report Posted June 24, 2014 Lol "Dude I totally crushed your trachea!" RVD hasn't been this entertaining in years
Bierschwale Posted June 24, 2014 Report Posted June 24, 2014 "Dude I totally crushed your trachea!" RVD hasn't been this entertaining in years And then he did things in the match that were cool and well-executed! This is deeply confusing.
hammerva Posted June 24, 2014 Report Posted June 24, 2014 Is Seth Rollins wearing Zeus's tights from No Holds Barred?
Petey Posted June 24, 2014 Report Posted June 24, 2014 Folks, that is why Dean Ambrose is THE Titty Master.
Strummer Posted June 24, 2014 Report Posted June 24, 2014 Really putting the sympathy on .vickie here
The Man in Blak Posted June 24, 2014 Report Posted June 24, 2014 I only caught the back half of that Barrett/Ziggler match, but that half alone might have been the best match I've seen on Raw since WM30. Easily the best Barrett match I've seen since I started watching again. I take back all my doubts on Ziggler. His one weakness was overselling the "oh so close" facials for all the near falls -- he never had anywhere to elevate to because he was one step short of talking to his hands, Warrior-style, before the commercial break. But both he and Barrett brought a real energy that totally sucked the crowd in. I was worried that Barrett might be cueing up for the Big E treatment after losing to Ziggler before, but that was a HUGE rebound. That Bullhammer (and the spit/tooth it knocked out of Ziggler mid-air) was glorious.
