Vince and Hunter are responsible for the McMahon family angle which is going to be "huge" and will "explode" after Summerslam. The plan is for it to dominate TV all the way to WM 30 (Good God). David Kreizman is merely interfacing and keeping in touch with the writers

Hunter did not punish Bryan for blowing up at him backstage. Vince backed him.

They were mad at Punk for tweeting about the Stanley Cup finals during RAW. Some blamed him for the bad rating.

Wait, I thought that the whole "Bryan flipped out backstage on HHH" thing was a work.

Very much a shoot.

They never really followed up on it and was overall simply "weird" like an organic incident would be.

The funniest detail from Observer about the backstage scene was that Daniel Bryan was calling anyone within an ear shot a motherfucker.

Not saying you're wrong, but I distinctly recall reading that they came up with that story and put it on WWE.com to keep Bryan looking tough after having to have the match stopped. Including WWE.com quotes from people saying "I've never seen anything like it since Bret and HBK"

That being said, I do totally buy the idea of Vince being impressed by Bryan wanting to keep working and yelling at his boss.

So, this is 2001 all over again ?

Dave wrote a paragraph of death on Naylor:

Rob Naylor, who worked in the developmental system, mostly behind the scenes, but did appear in a television role at times, was released this past week. He had been hired in October, 2011. Naylor was a longtime fan who has great knowledge of history, and was a big time tape watcher of everything all over the world. He brought that open minded perspective you can really only get when you watch a variety of different successful styles of wrestling. He was originally part of the announcing crew for Dragon Gate USA with Lenny Leonard. He worked behind-the-scenes on the TV. He also appeared as a comedy character on TV from time-to-time, such as when Summer Rae was the General Manager, he played her nerdish comedy secretary type role. The company word was that with the movie to Orlando, his position was redesigned internally (basically given to Ryan Katz, formerly G.Q. Money in XPW and Wrestling Society X). Katz is said to be very capable as a producer. There was nothing negative said about Naylor and the company word was that he could be brought back in the future. The story we heard was that HHH personally told him he was very much appreciated and the door would be possibly open some time again. As far as the reaction, I’ve never seen an outpouring so positive from the talent itself to anyone released in WWE. The talent there tried to get “Thanks You Naylor†trending, and it was trending worldwide for five hours. Adrian Neville, who he pushed hard to get into the system, worked his match in Palatka, FL, dedicated to him, and several of the people on the main roster who were in the system with him like Reigns, Rollins, Summer Rae and Cesaro pushed it and then Punk found out and followed suit. I don’t know how many, but it seemed like most in developmental, including Dusty Rhodes, praised him on his way out. One wrestler said, “Everybody loved Naylor and he was far more influential than anyone will ever fully realize. He had developed a good rapport with Dusty and the other coaches. His knowledge of wrestling history was second to none around here and he would make comments or suggestions that would take a life of their own. He played a part in all of our development in the last year-and-a-half.†Again, I don’t know the situation, but if someone was that popular and that good at what they did, there should be a position for them considering how many people are around who really don’t have much of a clue and the volume of positive things everyone was saying about him. So not only he must have been smart and also well liked, and in wrestling people may have one quality or the other, but not a lot have both. Rhodes on Twitter said he was going to use Naylor to help him with his web blog. HHH wants his team in and Naylor predated HHH taking over developmental, and almost all the guys in the key positions in developmental now (Ceman, Bill DeMott, Terry Taylor, Billy Gunn, Katz and Matt Wichlinski–the new strength and conditioning coach) are HHH hires. Matt Martlaro gave him a hard time and some thought before he was let go that Martlaro was out to get him.

The "one wrestler" seems to be Dr. Tom Prichard as Tom's Twitter used similar verbiage.

A lot of his friends would say on podcasts and such like about how much influence he had on the more positive aspects of NXT and beyond. As credible as those friends are generally I just thought it was largely confirmation bias or wishful thinking. But there you go.

Shame Triple H wants to follow Management Best Practice or whatever and create a fresh corporate culture at NXT Orlando.

Naylor always seemed like a nice dude from the time I spent around him on DVDVR (even when we disagreed) so I'm glad to see his WWE job ending may yet have a silver lining. He was a guy that took a big step into a world most of us probably wanted to, so it would be cool to see him make it in the end.

I'd be interested in knowing more re: Matt Martlaro giving Naylor a hard time

The extremely well liked Tom Pritchard who was gotten rid as NXT Head Trainer in favour of the immensely controversial and derided Bill DeMott. Tom referred to Martlaro as a Little Napoleon. After current spate of releases some of people released tweeted Tom with "you were right" messages

He seems to be your standard terrible middle management type but ultimately that position in talent relations involves being disliked anyway - talent vs office.

Am I the only one who just can't look at Christian and think "Old Veteran" ? Even though he is, I just can't feel it. Like, on SD tonight Ambrose called him "Old Man Christian" and I was like, "Huh?". I mean, I get it...Ambrose is trying to get under his skin, but that requires some kernel of truth to the mind game and I just never think of Christian as a guy who can be considered "old" even though he's been around for a long time.

I think this a sign that I'm actually old. And I'm having trouble coming to terms with it.

I think of Christian as old now mainly because he looks it. Not 'old' as in an old person, but old as in...reaching middle age. He's pretty scrawny by WWE standards, he keeps dyeing his hair blonde I presume to hide the grey, and it is thinning. Jericho is starting to look the same with his collapsed pecs and botox face.

In turn, I don't think of Rey Mysterio as old at all, whereas I know others do. But maybe for me it's because Rey wears a mask and you can't see him ageing physically.

I've always wondered what happened to Jericho, did he have some sort of injury that didn't heal correctly? He looks like a giant stepped on his chest and it caved in.

As far as Rey goes, yeah the mask helps, but this is a guy who's looked like he's 12 years old for the last 20 years now. I think he's just one of those people who will always look way younger than he really is.

I'm in my early 30's and I feel middle aged, but I also had a lot of sport related injuries in my early 20's, and partied pretty hard. I've got back and neck problems, and athritis in my knees and ankles. I've been thinking for a couple years now that if I make it to 70 and beyond I'll have done well. Ahhh, mortality, gotta love it.
