If anything they didn't go nearly as over the top with Del Rio as they could have. That awesome robe he wore at Mania 27 should have been a regular part of his look - what extravagant ring jackets or robes do we have in WWE these days? Jericho's is all I can really thing of off the top of my head, and that's the stuff that makes people come off like genuine stars..

Am I crazy if I am operating under the assumption that at Summerslam the live crowd is going to be in favor of Stephanie McMahon over Brie Bella? I know that Steph & The Authority are supposed to be the heels but Brie is just so bad that I think the crowd are going to cheer Steph like she's the face because she's been more entertaining. That seems to be how crowds work nowadays.

Yeah I hate this. Tbf they've improved things the past couple of years but there's still too many oily hairless blokes in WWEshop tshirts and underpants. Don't know why it's only at Mania they make an effort. Yeah, they've gotta shift that merch, but surely we can get Bryan's furry boots and Bray's awesome trench jacket a few more times a year. They're supposed to be 'special events' after all.

I'd be shocked if they don't somehow involve Bryan in the angle and/or match so I'm sure the crowd will be behind Brie by proxy.

Supposedly, the fan is a stalker and has been harassing Orton and his girlfriend via Twitter?

Not sure I understand how that even works (Can't you block people on Twitter? Why would you agree to take a photo with someone who is legitimately harassing you? Is she a "Perez Hilton"-type who celebrities begrudgingly have to do photos with or else face some media backlash on a blog?), but I do think, if this does somehow get onto TMZ or whatever, the WWE's best option is to ignore it anyway.

Had this been John Cena, though, I think calling out the company for its Be A Star campaign would be warranted, but considering Orton is a heel, I think its okay - especially considering just how "PG" calling someone a "Latino Ms. Piggy" is. Racist? No more than saying someone is the "Black Donald Trump" or that someone looks like a "White Oprah." The Ms. Piggy joke is an obvious reference to her weight (or maybe facial features), but again, its far from foul-mouthed or crass. The sentiment is nasty, but since when should a heel live by the "if you have nothing nice to say, say nothing at all" code of conduct?

In the Twitter Age of pro-wrestling, wrestlers who promote their characters in a *relatively* decent manner (it's not like Orton is going onto Twitter and making AIDS jokes or ridiculing kids with cancer) are doing it right. Orton plays an arrogant, entitled douche, so, he does on Twitter too. As long as he keeps it somewhat clean and PG, I don't see how it is any worse than the trolling Triple H does.

Listening to Paul on the MMA Hour. He just said they taped a 24/7 like segment for RAW with interviews from Brock, Paul and Cena plus video highlights.

Heyman and Brock wont be there tonight and I'm pretty sure Cena is still shooting his new movie so that's a smart way to keep hyping up the match.

Randy Orton has a photo up on twitter with a fan he refers to as the Latin Mrs. Piggy. What a dick.

To be fair apparently that fan spent most of her time around Orton badmouthing Orton's girlfriend.

My bad. Didn't know the back story.

Now if she is a stalker she 's fair game. If she 's just a fan even though Orton is a heel Orton shouldn't publicly humiliate her. The fan isn't part of the act. As a heel he should not get his pic done.

To be fair, Orton does retweet a lot of fans and did a few tweets in support of kids fighting illness with some heartfelt words of support. I'm kind of turning a corner on him, he seems to be more of a human Grumpy Cat type of person than someone who's just a dick for the sake of it. If I recall, he fought against turning his character babyface at one point because his natural personality is more heelish.

is this a real conversation about professional wrestling?

a heel called a fan fat? is that really something we as wrestling fans cannot live with?

Is it the end of the world? No. He's a wrestler. We've talked about their behavior before . Look at the Jim Ross is grumpy thread. I just thought it was a dick thing to do to a fan. I didn't know she was a stalker when I 1st posted it. If my girlfriend got her pic taken with anyone and they insulted her in a public way like in twitter I'd be pissed.

Have you not seen the direction our society has been heading in the last couple of years? We're raising a society of pussies, OF COURSE people get upset over that fucking shit nowadays. It's pathetic.

Per Meltz

The WrestleMania special last night did 3.90 million viewers on the overnights, way above what the show has done in the past. The special to the mainstream was built around Hogan, Rock and Steve Austin's segment and they did much more publicity for it than usual. That's probably close to the audience Raw tonight will get.
