Minds_Eys Posted August 24, 2013 Report Posted August 24, 2013 Great tidbit... Austin: I haven't gotten around to reading your book yet. Flair: Neither have I. Quote
Johnny Sorrow Posted August 25, 2013 Report Posted August 25, 2013 I think that one of the reasons Austin's so good is that nearly all wrestlers know they can't bullshit him, and they respect him. And when a guy says something that's kinda bullshit, like Flair saying that hardcore wrestling didn't exist before Funk piledrived him on the table and no one had ever done that before, Austin is great at just moving along the convo rather than get flustered or argue with him. rovert Posted August 28, 2013 Report Posted August 28, 2013 Hopefully Austin will get more than Lawler's story about bringing cartoons to Memphis studios, being a DJ and Andy Kaufman. Bonus pic of Jerry's new ride: Quote
Johnny Sorrow Posted August 31, 2013 Report Posted August 31, 2013 Austin was on the Ask Women podcast and its fucking great. Check it out. Quote
WingedEagle Posted August 31, 2013 Report Posted August 31, 2013 Still no comments on Jerry's wingman there? Or are we just that desensitized to it? Quote
Johnny Sorrow Posted August 31, 2013 Report Posted August 31, 2013 Still no comments on Jerry's wingman there? Or are we just that desensitized to it?A chick who appears to be hot despite only being able to see half her head? There's nothing to be "desensitized" about. If she was in pigtails and holding up a lunchbox, then that's a different story. This chick appears to be an adult. Good on The King if he's still pulling hot tail. Quote
WingedEagle Posted August 31, 2013 Report Posted August 31, 2013 Haha fair enough. Would it kill him to hang out with some peers? Quote
Johnny Sorrow Posted September 1, 2013 Report Posted September 1, 2013 Haha fair enough. Would it kill him to hang out with some peers? If you had a choice between hanging out with hot young broads or hanging out with Bill Dundee and a bunch of middle aged biker chicks, what would you do ? Quote
goodhelmet Posted September 5, 2013 Report Posted September 5, 2013 David LEe ROth is awesome on nearly every podcast he has ever been on. Loved his interviews with Jay Mohr and Joe Rogan. Quote
goodhelmet Posted September 5, 2013 Report Posted September 5, 2013 Austin talking wrestling psychology with David Lee Roth is just surreal. Quote
Jmare007 Posted September 5, 2013 Report Posted September 5, 2013 DLR dropping that knowledge was indeed awesome. Quote
Johnny Sorrow Posted September 6, 2013 Report Posted September 6, 2013 I love the story about the fan who ran into the ring and tackled Austin after a match with HHH. Austin can't beat the guy up cause he's a face, so HHH belly to back tosses the guy from behind, mounts him, and beats the fuck out of him. Quote
Superstar Sleeze Posted September 6, 2013 Report Posted September 6, 2013 Van Halen is my favorite band of all-time. I think Roth is hands-down the greatest front-man of all-time. The idea that Roth loves pro wrestling is surreal, but makes so much sense at the same time. 80s Metal and pro wrestling are like apple pie and ice cream to me they just go together. I think wrestling is getting back to where it should be and there is hope, but sadly it does not seem like Metal will ever get its act together. I cant wait to listen to this podcast. Quote
Cross Face Chicken Wing Posted September 12, 2013 Report Posted September 12, 2013 Another excellent interview and podcast from Austin. Lawler even took the "We used to wrestle every night and twice on Saturdays and Sundays" shoot interview fib to a new level by claiming he used to wrestle 10 times per week! Who's going to be the first wrestler to up that number to 15? Quote
Matt D Posted September 12, 2013 Report Posted September 12, 2013 It was a fun interview. I loved the talk about payoffs. I think the Dolph thing is easily the most interesting, but the bs on the timing on when Lawler became an announcer is pretty fascinating. If he replaced anyone, it was Hennig. Hell his first year of Supertars was a three man team WITH Savage. While he worked some cards, he wasn't really a focused wrestler til he'd been in the company for almost six years with KOTR 93. Statfreak101 Posted September 13, 2013 Report Posted September 13, 2013 Another excellent interview and podcast from Austin. Lawler even took the "We used to wrestle every night and twice on Saturdays and Sundays" shoot interview fib to a new level by claiming he used to wrestle 10 times per week! Who's going to be the first wrestler to up that number to 15? As far as Lawler goes, is it really that difficult to imagine him actually wrestling around 10 times per week? The guy was a staple within the Memphis territory and such. I wouldn't be shocked to know that this was reality. Quote
Statfreak101 Posted September 13, 2013 Report Posted September 13, 2013 Some guys that I hope Austin interviews over time on his podcast... Hebner Waltman B. Hart (Again - more in depth stuff) Taker Vader Holly Dibiase Finkel I am sure there are more - and of course, a number of guys that are deceased that would have been good to listen to. Quote
Zero Posted September 13, 2013 Report Posted September 13, 2013 I'm pretty sure one with Waltman has already been recorded, and could pop up anyday. Quote
Statfreak101 Posted September 13, 2013 Report Posted September 13, 2013 I'm pretty sure one with Waltman has already been recorded, and could pop up anyday. I think Waltman is very engaging and informative...when he wants to be. I enjoyed his WWF Timeline from 1994 - no reason why he shouldn't be as open as he can get with Austin. Quote
shoe Posted September 17, 2013 Report Posted September 17, 2013 Just got finished listening to the Lawler one. I gotta say it was kinda depressing to hear him and Corny used a insult book for some of their insults. Quote
goodhelmet Posted September 17, 2013 Report Posted September 17, 2013 The real issue is why didn't more wrestlers use one? Quote
Matt D Posted September 17, 2013 Report Posted September 17, 2013 I tried googling that book and couldn't find it, btw. Quote
shoe Posted September 17, 2013 Report Posted September 17, 2013 I tried googling that book and couldn't find it, btw. Were you going to use the insults in a fresh write up of the Rockers/ Rose and Sommers cage match . Quote
Matt D Posted September 17, 2013 Report Posted September 17, 2013 I should go back to archive.org and find that write-up. Can't have it lost from (to?) the annals of time. For Will's sake, I will not discuss that match again until we see how it ranks. Quote
shoe Posted September 18, 2013 Report Posted September 18, 2013 I wonder how many takes it took Austin to get through plugging Cougar life.com. LMAO Quote
