SteveJRogers
FWIW, both Shawn-Bret and that Top 25 Rivalries are on the network as part of Beyond The Ring series.
artDDP
So according to the Observer the new show rivalries hits the network this month. Will it just be replays of the ones that were released on DVD in the last few years or are there new episodes? They only did the Shawn-Bret one. I thought there was an Austin-McMahon one, too. Migs
They appear to be adding Raw episodes again. The Wednesday schedule has three of them. Maybe there's a big upload coming?
Zero
Just got e-mail about them adding limited advertising.

C.S.
Just got e-mail about them adding limited advertising. I am no longer a subscriber, so I didn't get it. But this is apparently what it says: Dear WWE Network Subscriber, Today WWE Network will begin to run limited video advertisements. Here's what you can expect: • No commercial breaks during scheduled programming • Limited advertising between shows • Occasional advertising before our video-on-demand content If you have any questions regarding your subscription, please visit wwe.com/help. Thank you for being a WWE Network subscriber. WWE Network Support More info here: http://adage.com/article/media/wwe-s...tisers/295390/ Yet another step in the wrong direction for the troubled WWE Network. I let my subscription expire after the first six months, and I've not been impressed by anything they've done to try to "woo" me back - including weekly, sometimes daily, spam mails. Does the service still feel like a bad beta test that lags severely behind Netflix, Hulu, etc.?
BillThompson
Not sure why people are up in arms about the ads, or viewing it as a step in the wrong direction. They've said ads were coming since the day they launched the Network. It's an easy revenue stream for them, and the way they are implementing them it's not going to impact anyone's viewing. It's better than an increase in a subscription cost.
bradhindsight
Making more money so they can add more resources (and in turn more programming) is a step in the right direction. They should have done this from day 1. It also offsets any price increase (at the moment). No one is cancelling their $9.99 a month because of commercials. As KrisZ pointed out on twitter, they run commercials during PPVs and special events. Nothing groundbreaking here.

No, probably not. But they aren't an "improvement" either, and WWE Network has a laundry list of things that need to improve.
shoe
Already on Main Event they'll leave during a match and plug a movie. I hate they do it during a match.
goc
Advertisements are not what is keeping me from resubscribing. The fact that they seem to have forgotten how to upload things other than the regular weeklies is what isn't encouraging me to return. BillThompson
Ads are one of the methods they are using to start uploading new/old content again.
sek69
Yeah, I was reading that email thinking "well if ads mean they can hire someone to upload stuff again I'm ok with that". Besides, Hulu Plus runs ads during shows all the time and that's a paid service like the Network.

Besides, Hulu Plus runs ads during shows all the time and that's a paid service like the Network. It's also one of the worst, most infuriating aspects of Hulu Plus. Lots of ads, but a very small pool of them that repeat all the fucking time. WWE is learning the wrong lessons from its "competitors" (and I put that in quotes because they're kidding themselves if they think they're legit competition for Netflix, Hulu, etc. - totally different bracket and ballpark). fakeplastictrees
I guess this will be better than the consistent WWE Network ads on THE WWE NETWORK!? I don't think this is a situation where the ads are being put in to suppliment the income to address future (and much needed) improvements to The Network features. WWE will make its money and all the things discussed within the first year will still continue.
dexstar
Ads have potential to be pretty great. If they just run standard commercials, that's verging on annoying, but what if they sold heavily branded recap/interview/backstage type segments (like, think the old Castrol GTX Slam of the Week graphics) and focused on retro clips, matches/angles that somehow fit a brand message, etc. it could actually be a positive. Or if they managed to convince advertisers to use WWE talent in their spots - guys like Bad News Barrett, Big E, Dolph, Adam Rose, hell a bunch of the roster - could be pretty entertaining in 30 second commercials. Coffey
Hulu getting involved with South Park Studios is what killed that website for me. Seeing WWE going in the direction of Hulu is worrisome for me. If they start showing commercials mid match on any show like it's RAW, then I will cancel. That's one of my least favorite things in all of pro-wrestling. That being said, commercials before a show starts isn't a big deal. If I get commercials every time I have to refresh because their stream freezes though, I will be irked.
sek69
I love when I watch old Nitros and remember stuff like Konnan going from day glo luchador to thugged out chulo by joining that feared street gang the Dungeon of Doom. Also as someone who watched Nitro and Raw at the same time, it's easy to see when Raw had something good on since there's large segments of these Nitros I've never seen before. dexstar
I'm always optimistic. I saw this on Twitter today: Bohsjohnny @BohsJohnny 19m 19 minutes ago This is great god knows why WWE dosen't a random match feature bulit in without a fan having to do it http://returntotherunway.com/wwenetwork/random_match.php As people build stuff like that, the Network is going to keep better whether the company puts their full weight behind it or not. Given the budget cuts, I think they should encourage this type of thing and try to get other people to do the work for free. Eventually they are going to stumble into a way to make this whole thing really work.
Sidebottom
I liked the cruiser weight episode that's just gone up. Unlike other episodes I've ragged on here, this one wasn't an overly familiar story to hear with some nice footage and rarities. Plus I always get a kick out of Dean Malenko "being held back" in WCW thus his wanting to jump to WWE, whereas in reality he was a far bigger star in WCW. thebrainfollower
Well they finally started updating 94 Raw's again. You can relive the first night of the Monday Night Wars if you are so inclined.
sek69
The newest one uploaded has the intro with everyone brawling on the rooftop has the theme hilariously overdubbed. I don't think they were using Marilyn Manson yet, but for the life of me I can't recall what the original. theme was.
