PTBN Royal Rumble Reaction Show

Will, Kris Zellner, David Bixenspan, El Boriuca and Johnny Sorrow run down the annual Royal Rumble. How do they react to HHH’s big victory? What’s the plans for WrestleMania? Did they like AJ Styles WWE debut? Where is the Divas division headed? All this and more on the Reaction Show.

I dunno guys. I get that he was at the show and unavailable and all and it's a good, varied panel, but to me, the draw for this one would have been Dylan going on about Hitler Youth and Johnny getting increasingly flustered.

Agreed, but Bix acknowledging his own AJ/Darren Young joke bombing with, ironically, excellent comic timing made up for the absence of Dyaln going completely postal over the finish to the Rumble for me.

Haven't listened to this yet but ....

Great show.

This is Johnny's review for Royal Rumble 2016, TLC 2015, Survivor Series 2015, Hell in a Cell 2015, Battleground 2015, Summerslam 2015 Money in the Bank 2015, Elimination Chamber 2015, Payback 2015, King of the Ring 2015, Extreme Rules 2015 and every other forgettable show that has happened since God Knows When.

Not having a go, necessarily, just pointing out the crushing predictability of Johnny's reaction.

The fact that he's on a review show and his review for every show is the same.

I want more critical discernment from him.

He's far more critically discerning when we watch stuff from 1970s and 1980s. But it's like we get to this stuff and he loses all sense of taste.

That's my feedback.

What good can come from it? A more critically discerning Johnny who doesn't blanket love all WWE shows.

I feel as though the critique of Johnny's reviews being too positive is one we've all heard a million times and is about as boring as having a show manned by 5 people all saying the same thing. Johnny works because he sounds different from anyone else on the show (both literally and content wise). I don't really understand wanting everyone on the reaction show having the same sort of opinions. Why even bother having that many people on the show at that point?

On another topic stop Kris needs to stop referring to stuff he 'can't talk about' on the show. Will tries his best to keep listeners informed of the insider jokes that get made all the time, but when he doesn't get the reference and you won't explain it? Man, it just grinds the show to halt and wastes time.

My point was that -- and I say this as someone who has co-hosted over 60 shows with Johnny -- is that he's a lot more critical of shows from the 1980s than he is here. Even of shows from the peak of the Crockett era.

In Johnny's version of events, the WWE are on a monster run, one of the best of all time, with every show as great as the last. And I'm sorry, but I don't think that even he would take the last year of shows over, let's say, 1986-7 Crockett. He'll be plenty critical of Dusty's booking looking back but still seems blind to the obvious flaws in the current product.

I'm not saying he needs to sing from the same hymn sheet as everyone else -- I mean, he's Johnny, he'll be unique no matter what his position -- I'm just wondering about the disparity between Johnny the 80s fan, who I've done lots of shows with and who is able to be critical, and Johnny the 2010s fan, who is all sunshine and rainbows all the time. Something doesn't make sense.

I hate to speak for Johnny but I kind of see him trying to enjoy a more "party" environment to his current WWE special viewings as he references other people being around and going out for smoke breaks during the shows so, it may be a little harder for him to have a more critical and analytical annalist for the shows as his experience with them is hued by his surroundings and mood during viewing. I for one in no way would want to disparage someone a good time especially because for myself at times it's hard enough to watch current WWE shows so, I say rock on Johnny whatever you're doing that makes you walk away from these shows with such a positive experiences keep it up!
