concrete1992
I can't imagine it being better if things were "exclusive". You'd get less ballots but presumably with these sorts of things still slipping in.
Beast
Also, if someone thinks Kendrick is #9, so what? If they can explain or defend it, all the power to them.
kjh
The bottom of the list was always going to have some odd positionings. That said, there will be worse wrestlers above Kendrick.
Loss
I know we try to find the silliest picture, but thanks for representing Jimmy Garvin as Jimmy Garvin instead of as a badly drawn Gene Okerlund.
Grimmas
I know we try to find the silliest picture, but thanks for representing Jimmy Garvin as Jimmy Garvin instead of as a badly drawn Gene Okerlund. BEST JOKE EVER!
El-P
Funny. That being said, Jimmy Garvin at #47 is pretty much as baffling as HTM to me. Garvin is one of the most boring wrestler ever. Yes, that includes his prime in WCCW. At least HTM was supposed to suck.
jaedmc
YAY MY FIRST HIGH VOTE! Nice to see someone ranked Sugiura higher than me. When I thought about it more I realised he had the last great heavyweight ace run in japanese wrestling so that earned him a solid placement. When I first watched him he was like all the good shit Kurt Angle did, without much of the bad- so basically the best version of Kurt ever. Eventually he became one of the last great manly men of modern wrestling, and feels less like the best version of Angle and more like his own person. I'd probably rank him higher if I had a chance to watch more of his recent stuff.

Yo-Yo's Roomie
I can kinda see ranking Kendrick that high. I mean, if you think turn of the century super indie stuff is the best wrestling ever, then I guess it kinda makes sense. It's a belief system, just not one I agree with. Matt D
He's driven me nuts with his posts for years. legit one of the first 5 ballots or so, and I thought we were in line for a bunch of troll ballots. I don't think it was a troll ballot anymore, but that was my initial reaction. The full name is "Mando > Eddie" btw. Mando Guerrero is one of my 20 least favorite wrestlers ever. But yeah, good for him.
Loss
Opinions really are beautiful butterflies, aren't they?
Mando
So I guess I need a B-Boy avatar ASAP, eh? Look, as Parv has stated, the lists are all subjective. I’ve watched wrestling every day for almost 30 years straight. That in itself isn’t particularly uncommon but I generally do like just about every style, era, etc. (WoS being my only real blindspot) which makes me a bit of an anomaly in the era of knee-jerk Twitter opinions. Clearly I constructed my list with a bigger emphasis on personal favorites from over the years. My love for Kendrick dates back to the first time I saw him on a Zero1 VHS cassette doing the goofy Titanic pose through his ROH, WWE, TNA, PWG, DGUSA, and NJPW runs he’s always put a smile on my face and has been consistently solid in-ring wherever he pops up. My going to bat for him as an overlooked ’00’s ace barely got him into the top 400 so I wouldn’t lose any sleep over it. As has been said since the very beginning of discussion on GWE, the cream will certainly rise to the top. And hey — nobody gave me guff for being the incredibly high vote on “Hollywood” John Tatum who I used to love to watch on GWF afternoons at 4P on ESPN after school as my all-time favorite crybaby heel. Just have fun. I am.
jaedmc
Us making fun of it is having fun. At least it's fun for me.
cubbymark
Grimmas, great pictures for the wrestlers' unveiling post. For Ray Rougeau, I can't tell if it's shock that's he low or that someone would have ranked him at all.
Loss
I personally love the wackiness of some lists and can appreciate it just as much as my approach to make everyone eat their peas. I'll still call the wacky lists wacky, but rest assured it comes from a place of love.
Matt D
Yeah, we're just having fun with things. And we'll continue to do so at the expense of everyone including ourselves.
Loss
Oh, Ray Rougeau. I loved how when he was a WWF interviewer, he always tried to conduct interviews at the most inappropriate moments possible. He tried to interview Bret while he was being carted out after Owen kicked his leg out of his leg at the Royal Rumble. When I was in fifth grade, our teacher was yelling at us about something and she unknowingly knocked her ruler off her desk. The whole time she's ranting, I'm saying her name trying to hand her the ruler until she finally says "Can't you see I'm talking?" and tells me to sit down. Anyway, that's Ray Rougeau as a WWF interviewer.
InYourCase
The wackiness doesn't bother me because we're still in the 300s. If Alberto Del Rio ends up at like #75 on the big list, then I'll have a problem.
KB8
Seeing all the crazy picks roll out is just about my favourite part of the countdown process. I mean, I think Honky Tonk Man is pretty rubbish, but I also think it's awesome that someone was compiling their list and thought, "yes, Honky Tonk Man feels right as the forty ninth best wrestler in history." WingedEagle
I know its all good fun. Some wackiness I can wrap my head around, some I can't. We all have our hangups right? I'm sure no one who posts here would try to troll things, and we'll all have a few names on our list at the bottom of the overall. That's just how it goes. But this top 10 business I can still find baffling
Parties
Raymond and Gorgeous Jimmy are the great 80s heel hair team that never was. Personally, I think voting workers higher than you really think they should be just to get them a higher placement is odd, especially if it just means going from like #425 to #380 or whatever. If only because it would drive me crazy to turn in a ballot of rankings that I didn't really believe. But to each their own, and more voting/ballots is always a net positive. MoS
I didn't vote for her, but I am glad Sasha hasn't come up yet. Even if she is tue next one, 375 is a very good placing for someone who was almost unknown 1.5 years ago.
Loss
I find it very hard to rank people still building their careers. I admire people who can do it.
