goc
So I know discussion about Punk's fight is going to end up getting posted somewhere on the board might as well just make an official topic for it and keep it here. I'm not ordering the fight cuz that shit is expensive and I can just catch the CM Punk KO gif on twitter but I'm sure there are at least a few people who post here that are going to buy the PPV. sek69
I get he wanted to prove a point or something but it's kind of a no win for him. Either he loses and it's "LOLPUNK" everywhere or he wins and it's "well he beat a specially chosen tomato can". Plus any value he might have had popping a buyrate probably went away since he was off injured for so long.
Lust Hogan
I'm pulling for Punk. He's been in big time events before so I don't think the pressure will get to him. Just hope he can withstand the early onslaught and maybe pop Gall with a quick elbow or two. We'll see how it goes but either way you have to give him props for leaving WWE and giving this a shot. Coffey
How many more times is that guy gonna cry about the eye? Â Anyway, I agree with Sek in that Punk is in a no-win situation. Of course, I also truly believe that UFC is mostly a work anyway, so whatever. So is the NBA & NFL.
Johnny Sorrow
Eh, I give him credit. It's something he wanted to do, and he's doing it. Doesn't matter if he wins or not.
Matt D
I like Punk more now that he looks more like Paul Boesch.
Al
This probably ruins Punk's chances of ever working for Bill Watts.
Matt D
The fun thing about this is that Punk is still a better pro wrestler than Brock Lesnar.
Ricky Jackson
Big party at Vince's place. Hell maybe break out the coke for old times sake
Matt D
They should drop the cash to have Living Colour play Cult of Personality for Baron Corbin on the way to the ring for whatever pre-match show match he's in tomorrow. That's what I'd do if I was Vince at least.

goc
DylanWaco speculated on twitter that this probably hurts Punk's chances of getting into the WON HOF now with the way the voters are and I think it's both funny and probably true. Beast
This was the most pro wrestling-esque UFC in a long time. Â In a row we had: Â 1) CM Punk jobbing to the hot young star who then challenged another hot young star. Â 2) Browne calling a "time out" to fix his finger (which the ref somehow allowed) and then Werdum mocking him as a "cry baby" and attacking his cornerman. Â 3) Overeem pulling a 2000 Royal Rumble Big Show and claiming the ref's missed a Miocic tap out, only to be caught in his lie when they immediately showed the sequence twice on the big screen. Â I loved it.

elliott
So what happened for those of us who didn't watch and don't tweet? Knockout? Submission? How long was the fight? How did the crowd react before, during and after the fight? HOw did the commentators treat him?
gingears
Punk charged in, was taken down immediately and beaten on until Mickey locked in a choke and forced him to tap out. The fight lasted 2:14. The crowd was pro-Punk at all points. There were some light boos for Mickey during his entrance but it was hard for anyone to boo him past that since he was the only one in the fight that actually did anything. Also his entrance music was Hey Mickey which had been previously rejected by Dana White for unstated reasons so that was a nice surprise. The commentators pretty much had to call it as they saw it, it was a slaughter. They gave Punk credit for not quitting through the punches and essentially said this is what happens when an experienced fighter fights an inexperienced fighter. After the fight, Mickey challenged Sage Northcutt and that seemed to turn the crowd around on him. Punk also spoke and encouraged children to follow their dreams and believe in themselves and the announcers agreed that that was a good thing for them to do. He also said he would fight again. His entrance music was Cult Of Personality by Living Colour.

Johnny Sorrow
.The "Haw Haw! Fuck you Punk" shit I've seen online so comes off as a bunch of losers with nothing to offer mocking someone who actually tried something. It's terrible. The Chief
.The "Haw Haw! Fuck you Punk" shit I've seen online so comes off as a bunch of losers with nothing to offer mocking someone who actually tried something. It's terrible. He wanted to fight. He did. Win or lose, 99.9999999% of the population can't say that. That's ballsy for someone who really isn't a natural athlete. I respect him. Â And lol at the HHH reaction, a guy who probably has never been in a "real" fight in his life
fxnj
I'm sure plenty of people would be have no problem accepting millions to get beat up for 2 minutes if given the opportunity. It's fair to give him credit for trying, but there are innumerable no-name fighters at small gyms who will never come close to the UFC that could have destroyed Punk. That's where the mockery comes from.
The Chief
That's a strawman argument. "Plenty of people would accept millions of dollars to get knocked out" is true, but how many of those people would actually put forth the effort into training for that position? He's not just some bum they pulled off the street, he actually did train to do this, trained hard and wanted to win. He didn't just accept a tough man contest payday to buy a sandwich.
