Comments that don't warrant a thread - Part 4

Marked out over this weekend seeing Zandig and Jun Kasai appear at GCW's ToS. Although, the crowd reaction I thought was lukewarm, I expected a better pop. Zandig scrapped a bit with Gage in the opening segment, they both bled. He is more remembered now for "Jeeezus!", but Zandig is the greatest American deathmatch wrestler ever behind Foley, I'll always be a fan.

If you think WWE is brazen when it comes to rewriting history, I came across a recent CMLL match where one of the commentators said Atlantis had the most valuable mask in the history of lucha libre.

Well, yeah, Mil Mascaras was stupid enough to have 1,000 masks and thus flooded the market and drove the individual prices down. Santo? The fucker broke kayfabe and unmasked on TV a few months before his death.

Excluding 1. Mil Mascaras and 2. Masks that have already fallen, who would be the most valuable besides Atlantis atm? The only ones I can think of are Santito (who will never lose it) and LA Park (who has lost masks before). Where does someone like Psycho Clown rank historically in kayfabe?

On the topic of apuestas, how about valuable cabelleras? I'm still waiting for the Park Vs. Rush match so that's one I'd love to see up for grabs.

Sidenote - In looking over a few rosters for this post I was reminded Stuka Jr. lost his mask last year. He's always been one of my favorite guys to watch live and that mask is a beauty (if not slightly questionable). Makes me wish I had offered him a few bucks for a ring worn mask.

Atlantis is def. #1 on the list of most valuable masks on guys who could conceivably lose them. Psycho Clown is probably the top of the list of modern valuable masks due to him being at or near the top of AAA for so long.

Canek's mask would also be in that league, I would think. Dos Caras maybe a step below that, I guess? How would Mistico/Caristico rank?

Santito will be the only one never to lose the mask I think, barring things like untimely deaths. Everyone else will find their price eventually, that's pretty much how it works in lucha.

He is very polarizing Mexico because of nepotism. He is either loved or hated. https://www.milenio.com/deportes/mas-aficion/hijo-santo-mejores-luchas-enmascarado-plata

It's not even nepotism (which would be weird since lucha is pretty much built on what family you come from) but that his wife runs the business side of things and is (allegedly) hard to deal with. Now that could just be macho culture resenting having to deal with a woman, but there seems to be a lot of "where there's smoke there's fire" as well.

Also I'm sure he didn't win any fans when he went hard at one of his nephews for doing a "grandson of Santo" gimmick since he waned that for his son only.

His problems were mainly being  hard to do business with, and he's only banned from CMLL because it's run by weirdos who hold grudges until the universe ceases to exist. AAA would work with him tomorrow if he actually played ball a little.

For anyone that may be interested, the WWC Aniversario 50 show is this Saturday June 24 and will be available live on http://Fite.tv in both Spanish and English commentary. The event is dedicated to the founders and pillars of the company and to the Puerto Rican fans.

Also, WWC was celebrated and honored by the Puerto Rico House of Representatives for the company's 50 year anniversary. A big congratulations to everyone at WWC, especially Victor Jovica and Carlos Colon.
