SomethingSavage
Need an avatar of her in that skintight black outfit from Season 4, what with the thigh meat all exposed & whatnot. Because mygoddamngawd. Catrina, y'all.
SomethingSavage
Anyone watch the Wagner/Jarrett hair match? Is it worth checking out? Or ANYTHING on that show worth seeking out? I've neglected lucha for a year+ (aside from some LA Park insanity, which is forever a priority), but I figure I'll end up with plenty to catch up on at some point when I truly start to miss it. That's typically how my fandom goes with all things.
sek69
I watched it. It was better than I was expecting a Wagner/Jarrett match in 2018 to be, but that's damning with faint praise for sure. Scarlett Bordeaux showing up in the 4 way women's match and in the main event running interference was one of those surprising-but-not-really-when-you-think-about-it moments considering AAA and Impact are besties again. Blue Demon Jr's heel turn was obvious from outer space, but in the end the right guy won. It came off as giving Wagner a big win to build for Triplemania next year with Park, but Park peaced out on them because he doesn't get along with Konnan. Apparently he gets along with Dorian Roldan which means the big match is still at least theoretically happening, but who knows.

Cody losing the NWA title to Aldis pretty much kills all the hype the All In result had in term of what could be done with the NWA going forward. Aldis is not a blip on the radar in term of buzz. Apparently, they announced the return of a Crockett Cup, complete with too dudes cosplaying as the Road Warriors, with Animal by their side. This whole revivalist stuff is a major *yawn* to me. Let the past be. Give me more G.L.O.W. (the TV show, not the wrestling company) and Lucha Underground. Then again, Billy Corgan has reformed the Smashing Pumpkins (without D'Arcy, come on now), so what would you expect... I really enjoyed Cody and Aldis, but everything else was completely worthless. Rah
Trying to source dates/video on the following two matches. Been looking for years so I'm starting to think I dreamt these 1) Vader fought wrestlers' minis. The one match he fought Mini Vader and got DQ'd for excessive violence. He proceeded to continually Vader Splash the poor guy. 2) I think this one was a boiler room brawl between Mankind and Undertaker. Mankind runs into a dark room but walks into a bear trap and can be heard screaming from behind the door.

On many respects (the actual in-ring work and heat seeking work), this match was straight out of 1985 Starrcade or something. Jarrett & Wagner did look every bit their age. So did Karen, in the hottest way imaginable. She's like Francine if she was still doing ECW stuff. So, she looks great and is quite the great valet. The total overbooking at the end is straight from Double J Special, including the Blue Demon swerve you could see coming from three thousands miles ahead. The heel referee shit is so awful and makes lucha libre looks like something 40 years out of date. The ridiculous head-shave Jarrett got redeems himself forever of that non shaving he got at SummerSlam 20 years ago. Since we're taking about iMPACT, I kinda would love to see Jarrett & Karen back there for a final stint. And as far as Scarlett Bordeaux, which I just saw for the first time on iMACT, well, she's taking the whole pornstar look to another level. I guess WWE would be all over her. The sexiest thing about her is how she says her own name though. For those who don't know, Bordeaux is the name of the city in France, and it's basically where I was raised (in its suburbs basically). NintendoLogic
Random question: what are the Mexican commission rules regarding wrestlers who voluntarily unmask to assume a different persona? Like, could Alberto Del Rio go back to being Dos Caras Jr. if he wanted to?
SPS
I've heard Paul Orndorff talk about this before but this is the first time Tony's commented in my memory. So what do some others here think, did Paul whoop Tony and bite his ear or did Tony just cradle and hold Mr. Wonderful and Paul got flustered and bit him in retaliation? Strummer
Mandy Rose is reaching prime Lex Luger levels of wearing baby oil. Just noticed on the last Smackdown. Looks like she is bathing in the stuff

In Alberto's specific situation it's a little different since his brother wrestles as Hijo del Dos Caras so there possibly could be issues where the commission would want to make it clear there's no false advertising/bait-and-switching going on. It happened in TJ when Rey Misterio Sr started pushing his son as Hijo (in small print) del Rey Misterio while having him dress identical to his famous cousin. aaeo_
There are several pairs of wrestlers working as "___ Jr." and "Hijo de ___". Villano III and Blue Panther's kids come to mind. The commission doesn't actually do too much these days, as far as I know.
Mad Dog
I'm watching November to Remember 1998 for a podcast review. Wow, do I fucking hate this show. Every match is just filled with outside BS, it's ridiculous.
BBscout
Any off air footage that’s highly desired now in the network era? I feel like they could make a playlist of it. Stuff like Survivor Series 97 footage of Bret, Owen, Davey and Anvil in the ring post match and the walk back to the curtain. This was put on YouTube right around the time before the network debuted. Ive always wanted more of the Bash at the Beach 96 ending.

They only would if one is a much bigger star and the promoters were trying to imply the lesser star was the other guy. Even then, the commisson doesn't seem to care much about anything that happens outside Mexico City.

Al
Something that's been bugging me for a bit. A couple years ago I listened to a Stan Hansen interview/podcast where he explained what he yelled when he threw up the horns. I can't remember what It was and I can't find the interview. NintendoLogic
The latest Observer discusses Brazo de Plata/Super Porky's current condition. His hips are dislocated, his knees are shot, and he doesn't have the money for surgery. Given how many luchadores from the 70s and 80s ended up in rough shape in their later years, I think we need to reconsider whether not taking flat back bumps is really that much better for you in the long run. It reminds me of when people would argue that hard-hitting matches in Japan weren't really that bad because they had time to recuperate between tours. I guess what it boils down to is that there really is no way to safely do professional wrestling. One way or another, you're going to have to pay the piper. As I recall, he claimed at the time he started doing it, he was young and was doing it as a way of making a rebellious statement. Here is an excerpt from a review of the Stan Hansen episode of "Back to the Territories" with Jim Cornette. The review was done for 411 by PWO's own Mike Campbell. Quote "Stan gives the origin of his famous yell, he was actually yelling out the word “Youth” – because the Funks were the top gaijin in AJPW, and he and Brody were the young generation of Americans."
