BigBadMick Posted October 16, 2016 Report Posted October 16, 2016 Anyone else excited about this? Or should they have awaited another while to let anticipation build before using brand rivalry? And does it devalue the concept by having Lesar-Goldberg on top? For the main match, I'm hoping for some combination of Styles, Cena, Ambrose, Orton, Ziggler and Miz v Reigns, Rusev, Rollins, Owens, Jericho and Zayn.
goc Posted October 16, 2016 Report Posted October 16, 2016 I think it's completely ruined the brand split and they should have waited a minimum of ten years to have any Raw vs SD matches.
fakeplastictrees Posted October 17, 2016 Report Posted October 17, 2016 Not sure if Goc is joking or not, but this SD vs. Raw and crossover stuff should have waited until a year pasted. For the most part WWE has been pretty good, but the company couldn't even wait two weeks post draft before people assigned/in-charge-of a particular brand popped over into the other. BigBadMick's match sounds good.
flyonthewall2983 Posted October 17, 2016 Report Posted October 17, 2016 I'm actually going to watch the show, despite not watching anything else since WM. I'm just glad they brought back the old-school format.
Matt D Posted October 17, 2016 Report Posted October 17, 2016 With these things, in 2016, I like some sense of stakes. In 1988, there was a huge novelty to the Survivor Series due to the nature of WWF TV and feuds. Most TV matches were jobber matches. Most feuds lasted 6+ months and dominated house show schedules. Just seeing 8-10 wrestlers interact with one another was a huge novelty. That's not at all the case now. Raw vs Smackdown is only a novelty of a couple of months, tops. I would have liked some single-brand matches, I think, to further feuds without having to give away singles matches. If they're going to go brand vs brand, there should be some stake, even if it's stupid, like which brand gets the main event at Mania, or even which tag title is listed first on WWE.com. If this was 20 years ago, they could kayfabe make it so whichever brand won would get a monetary bonus in title matches for the next year or something, but obviously they won't do that.
El-P Posted October 17, 2016 Report Posted October 17, 2016 That they do the old-school matches is nothing more than banking on nostalgia. Like bringing Goldy. The brand vs brand feud has no leg. Zero. Zilch. Most of these guys have all worked against each other all the time already. And it's been what ? Four months ? It's just nostalgia branding.
Infinit Posted October 17, 2016 Report Posted October 17, 2016 Know what would make the interbrand matches mean something? Making the brand that wins 2 of the 3 Survivor Series matches control number 30 in the Royal Rumble.

Johnny Sorrow Posted October 18, 2016 Report Posted October 18, 2016 For years all people have wanted was a Survivor Series with traditional SS matches. So here you go.
Grimmas Posted October 18, 2016 Report Posted October 18, 2016 For years all people have wanted was a Survivor Series with traditional SS matches. So here you go. They have those every year.

He could mean a card with all or mostly Survivor Series matches. Which this will not be. There will be 3 matches, plus you have Goldberg-Brock and I am sure others. Hopefully they do add a Cruiserweight Elimination match too, then maybe each show can do their own Survivor Series matches with the folks left over. Either way, there will be atleast one non-Elimination match. You know what though, 87/88 with those huge tag matches with 5 teams on 5 teams were some of the best Survivor Series matches ever, so I am excited even if it means nothing.
Edwin Posted October 19, 2016 Report Posted October 19, 2016 For the main match, I'm hoping for some combination of Styles, Cena, Ambrose, Orton, Ziggler and Miz v Reigns, Rusev, Rollins, Owens, Jericho and Zayn. I haven't been following close enough, but you throw all these guys together in one match and what will the other 2 matches look like? A possible women's division elimination match and what will the other be? New Day and the Golden Truth vs. Rhino, Slater, American Alpha and someone else?
Ricky Jackson Posted October 19, 2016 Report Posted October 19, 2016 I think they are actually going with an old school 5 teams against 5 teams match
