JaymeFuture
So, for this week's podcast we're doing our second show based off the old Room 101 television show, where we're looking for you to submit one nomination for a Tag Team from any point in time that you wish to be banished to oblivion for good, and why you want them in Room 101.You can be as flexible with the nomination as you like - it can be a certain period of a team's run, or if you really dislike a duo's body of work you can just toss the team in there. You can be obscure as you like in who you choose, it really comes down to the combo that always grinded your gears the most, and your explanation will be key in whether or not the panel agrees on the show to banish your suggestion to Room 101.As always, the best nominations will be read and you'll be credited accordingly. So who has always annoyed you personally enough to go into Room 101 and why? EDIT - The show talking Tag Teams that you voted to go into Room 101 is now available at the following link: https://squaredcirclegazette.podbean.com/mf/download/d7aa4j/SCG_Radio_112_-_Room_101_Tag_Teams.mp3
overbooked
Any tag team that doesn't wear matching outfits and doesn't have a name for the team. It's just lazy.
Migs
Steve Austin and Shawn Michaels. Great moment when they win the belts, but the idea of two singles stars teaming up to crush the tag team champions basically destroyed tag team wrestling as we knew it from the 80s and early 90s, which is a really sad thing. (Arguably, this could also apply to the Outsiders, but they were at least a regular tag team that regularly wrestled other tag teams.) Mad Dog
William Regal and Lance Storm. I like both guys individually but they combined to make one of the most boring and flavorless tag teams ever. They had no chemistry and it's like they brought out the worst in each other. I think their team only lasted a couple of months but it felt like forever at the time and in hindsight.
Cap
LOD 2000 (and anything later) As a kid who thought that The Road Warriors were one of the coolest/most terrifying things to ever grace my television, LOD 2000 was a crippling disappointment. They were at best hollow shell of what they once were and at worst a bad joke that everyone got but didn't want to laugh at. Even though it seemed like everyone was just trying to make the most of it, I never bought Droz/Puke as a member and the Hawk angle was a little too real and uncomfortable (not in a good way). The stuff with Heidenreich wasn't any better. I'd rather not have to know anything about them after 97 or 98 at the latest. Even then I am willingly taking some of the bad with the good. Mad Dog
I kind of liked Animal as hired muscle for the Mag 7 at the end of WCW.
Cap
Honestly, I haven't watched that since it was on live and by that time the whole thing was a sour mess to me. Maybe it wasn't quite as bad as I remember.
Mad Dog
I don't think it was great or anything. He just wrestled a few matches and stood around looking tough.
TonyPulis'Cap
It feels harsh in a way given their incredibly brief run, but Harlem Heat 2000. When Stevie Ray is the workrate part of the team, because the other is a hideously out of shape and overweight Ahmed Johnson sorry Big T then I think that tells its own sorry tale. As I'm sure the guys doing the PWO2K project will tell you, WCW 2000 is a general wasteland in terms of good matches and performances, but these guys still managed to stand out in their awfulness. I will also throw a nomination Deuce and Domino's way. I didn't actually hate the gimmick but these guys were so bland and boring in the ring and even managed to make London and Kendrick matches uninspiring. ajsmith_7
Hype Bros, don't think I need to elaborate, Mojo Rawley and Zack Ryder, perhaps the 2 least likeable characters on WWE TV not named Roman or Enzo! Also, Enzo and Cass
Matt D
Harris Brothers. The answer is the Harris Brothers. It's literally the only answer.
Jimmy James
Fire and Ice. Every time I get into 90s Nitro in the Outsiders/NWO era, they come along and suck all the energy out of the show. There were worse teams in that era (shoutout to Public Enemy), but none as boring. TonyPulis'Cap
Harris Brothers. The answer is the Harris Brothers. It's literally the only answer. Oh most definitely. Is there any good Harris Boys match out there?
Mr. Lacelle
The Bushwhackers, not The Sheepherders but the WWF version. So many house shows & ppv's were sullied with their "comedy". Did't even have the decency to be brief, I'm pretty sure their match with The Beverly Brothers from Royal Rumble 92 is still going on. There were worse teams in that era (shoutout to Public Enemy), but none as boring. I love Fire and Ice so much.
Memphis Mark
George Gulas and the poor guy that had to carry him . At the beginning it was Dennis Hall or Rufus R' Jones , then Bobby Eaton had to carry the burden.
Migs
Harris Brothers. The answer is the Harris Brothers. It's literally the only answer. Oh most definitely. Is there any good Harris Boys match out there? They probably top out with some of the ECW brawls. Your mileage may vary on those, but some might label those good. PeteF3
There's at least one Harris vs. Rock 'n Rolls match from SMW that's halfway decent to good. But...it's the Rock 'n Rolls.
GSR
Harris Brothers. The answer is the Harris Brothers. It's literally the only answer. Oh most definitely. Mrzfn
Some personal picks: The Skyscrapers: Yes, the Sid version. I think some people enjoy watching this team crush jobbers but by god they were dang useless for anything else. They were also in the peak era for Sid's incredibly annoying "do one move, stare at the audience forever, do one move, repeat" habit. The Freebirds: I'm talking late stage WCW here, where they were broken down beyond belief. Again, I think some people even like this version, but to me they were death to any match they took part in for the last several years of their run. The Patriots: Firebreaker Chip is still the weirdest wrestling name I've heard. This team redefined pointless. Nasty Boys: Sometimes they were ok, but sometimes they were damned unbearable. I was watching through some mid 90s WCW and besides the Cactus Jack brawls, they were often damned agonizing to watch. The Beautiful People: Maybe an exception for the original, but all reunion versions have been horrible, especially any featuring just Velvet Sky & Angelina Love. NotJayTabb
Going contemporary with Enzo and Cass. Absolutely wretched pairing. Enzo still wrestles like he's horribly untrained, Cass is a terrible hybrid of Test and Edge at their worst and they're the most irritating on-screen presence every week on Raw. Their music is awful, they look ridiculous, their overrated promo schtick involves Enzo machine-gunning out a load of nonsense and Cass awkwardly getting round to the catchphrase. I realised Corey Graves was my spirit animal when he exclaimed with utter glee as Enzo entered the Rumble to die at the hands of Brock. The only time I ever enjoyed them was as NXT jobbers dying at the hands of Mason Ryan for a few weeks.
Tim Evans
The Ascension and Sanity. I used to have to sit through 4 Ascension matches a night at NXT tapings. I don't hate Viktor and old ass Konnor just brings him down so much. Just a old tired gimmick from a slow fat guy without the charm and the worker of the group has no charisma. Sanity has replaced them. They haven't been around long but they are just as bad. They make Nikki Cross boring. Eric Young is the worst. Cap
I second the Ascension. They may be my least favorite tag team ever... maybe next to the Harris boys.
