I can kind of see the Shakespearean ideal being that Gargano went so far into Ciampa's world that he lost himself utterly and became the monster he was trying to fight, especially with that last submission, and as such lost because he ultimately deserved to lose. He no longer had the higher moral ground and fate turned against him.

I dunno though. It's a long bridge to cross.

I need to double back to the opening two matches later.

If this was what they were going for, that'd be great. To me it just felt like a standard screw-job by over-zealous backstage officials and the ref. I don't know what they do next. Last man standing? Unsanctioned fight?

What's weirdest about this Ciampa/Gargano feud is that it's booked in reverse. This match should have taken place at NOLA and that one here.

I mean, once you book a Loser Leaves Town, it's pretty much a guarantee that it's going to end.

Wasn't this already unsanctioned?

This felt more brutal than their last match. Actually uncomfortable to watch at points.

Its at a point where I dont know if I even want another match. How do you turn up the intensity from this?

That show was amazing. I don't rewatch much, just Magnum / Tully , Lawler/ Dundee, And Mania 1. But that show just made the list. That was the most fun I've had watching a wrestling show in years. Watching them figure out how to work with that crowd was fascinating.

Loved this show from top to bottom. It might just actually be my favorite NXT Takeover ever as only the women's match dipped below **** for me. Everything was else was great to amazing.

I'm on the side that absolutely loved Ciampa-Gargano. A little bloated, yes, definitely. But that finishing stretch was a violent spectacle that physically unnerved me on many occasions. It was the best example of this kind of finish done since Owens-Zayn all the way back when they were feuding over the title. This was an amazing, actually disturbing, second chapter in the ongoing rivalry of the year. I don't know about you guys but if a match can make me physically uncomfortable without blood, I think it's violence and intensity done right.

Awesome show.

Ciampa vs. Gargano had me shaking, shocked, afraid for their respective health and tensing my whole body. Really hard to watch at times, but damn, these two know how to further their story. You can't top this in terms of violence, I think. At least not in WWE. So yes, a third match should start out brutal and weapons filled, but then go back to actual wrestling and have Johnny realize he doesn't want to go to Ciampa's level.

A guy got handcuffed and kicked in the head multiple times and also choked. If that ain't violent as fuck, I dunno what is.

But overall, great- show. Maybe we are getting spoiled at this point when it comes to NXT: 5 matches, usually with tons of planning behind them all involving people that are over - and in the rare case where people are received with crickets (Oney and Burch) they turn that around in the ring.

I think my Hell in a Cell speculation got lost on the previous page. It would be a first for NXT, and if this is the ultimate blood feud and grudge match, Hell in a Cell is how those are settled in WWE.

He benefits from being ultra young. He can afford to be on NXT and wait a couple of years, honing his skills and improving in some areas. It seems that they know he's incredible and a sure-fire megastar, but also that's he's kind of rough in some departments (for instance, he is not very good at controlling segments, building heat and all that), so he's being treated with the utmost care.

He won the matches he had to win and lost the ones he had to lose. They are also tayloring matches to make him shine - Ricochet slowed himself down noticeably as to no make Dream look like a complete fool and ruin the whole story, and it made for some nice results. He might be the closest one booked to perfection.

Yeah, I hope he stays in NXT for a while. That show is still a niche show and he needs to have more experience under his belt to handle things well if they get sideways on the main roster.

If there's one talent with a guaranteed golden ticket to succeed, gift-wrapped for superstardom, it's gotta be Velveteen Dream.

With that being said, I wouldn't be at all surprised if they fucked him up on the main roster within three months.

You're challenging them. If they read this he's getting a reworked version of The Dicks as his gimmick.

Velveteen Dream should be the one to beat Adam "Bore-Bay" Cole for the already worthless NXT North American Championship. (What is it with reddish belts being complete and utter valueless disappointments?)
