paul sosnowski
Kurt Beyer 36 mins It is with a very heavy heart to let you know that Dad -- aka The Destroyer, aka Doctor X, aka Dick Beyer, aka Coach -- passed away shortly past Noon today. He was in bed at home, and was surrounded by all of his children and wife as he slipped peacefully away. I will have more to share later, but wanted you to hear this sad news from me first. Thoughts and prayers are most welcome at this time. Peace. (The Destroyer - Honoring A Wrestling Legend! The Destroyer (wrestler))
KawadaSmile
Just saw this. One of the greatest of all time, and most certainly one of the funniest wrestlers to have ever lived. May he rest in peace.
Steve T
RIP The Intelligent Sensational Destroyer, one of the all-time greats.
SirEdger
Been a tough start of the year so far: Mean Gene, Pedro Morales, King Kong Bundy on Tuesday and now, the Destroyer. Haven't seen his work but only heard great things about him.
khawk20
Shit. RIP.
...TG
I first heard of him when he was a guest on Dave's old eYada show. (I can't find any of his clips on YouTube, alas.) His All Japan work is a heck of a lot of fun. RIP
SPS
Love his Japan work and very saddened to hear this. Truly heard nothing but nice things about him from those who met him. RIP.

Richeyedwards
Best mat worker I have ever seen, everything from his working of holds to positioning was perfect. That 1969 match Vs Baba is one of the best matches of all time. RIP the intelligent sensational Destroyer
WingedEagle
I really hope with the timing of his passing and magnitude of his career that Meltzer goes all in with this obituary.
Microstatistics
A true wrestling master. He was great at pretty much everything. RIP.

Dave's hand is better so the Observer last week was back to normal, and he was close with Dick we can probably count on it.
gordi
Absolutely gutted by this news. I often dress up as Destroyer for Halloween or for fun and it always gets a huge reaction from some old guy or other at the bar. People love him over here. Ricky Jackson
Meltzer's two part Destroyer bio, covering first his Japanese career and then his US career, is among his finest historical work. Really great stuff
