JBL's wife gets death threats from investors after downgrading CitiGroup.

Ms Whitney, a CIBC analyst who is married to the former World Wrestling Entertainment champion Death Mask

Using the gimmick name that he used for a handful (or less) of shows in Japan is either a rib or the weirdest bit of research ever.

Maybe it was an attempt to put her in the most unflattering light possible?

You'd think JBL doing Nazi shit at that show in Germany and getting fired from his TV gig over it would be a much easier and more obvious way of doing that. It just sounds like another one of those "demoted from Horsemen to Raw" moments you get when a journalist writes about wrestling with their only knowledge about the product coming from some intern who spent three minutes on JBL's wikipedia entry.

That's my guess. It strikes me as a very calculated attempt to paint them in as poor a light as possible. Such an obscure reference.

I've been watching some AWA on ESPN that I got on DVD. Wow, are they really behind the times at this point. They actually still have a good roster of talent with Sgt. Slaughter, Bruiser Brody, Stan Hansen, Midnight Rockers, Buddy Rose, etc. They just don't know how to use anyone. They're wasting Brody with Nord the Barbarian and they just seem lost on how to use the Rockers. It's really a shame. Also Gagne and Nelson are awful commentators.

Though I did laugh at Nelson during a sit down interview. Buddy Rose tears a $100 bill in half and during the rest of the interview Nelson eyes the money and slowly secures it under his foot.

Thanks alot.

And because someone was talking about the JBL incident, I was really suprised when Finley did the same thing a year later (Stuttgart) and nobody cared or flat out denied it. Only the more educated fans who knew that he (and others) did that shit fairly often 15 years ago were saying after the show that he did the Hitler salute. The denial of wrestling fans is always amusing

Edit: RoloChoshu = Bix

I watched SuperClash recently. It amazed me that a show with wrestling legends Stan Hansen, Giant Baba, Harley Race, Jumbo Tsuruta, Mil Mascaras, Crusher, Bruiser, Ric Flair, Ray Stevens, Nick Bockwinkel, etc. only drew 21,000 to Comiskey Park. It wasn't the booking as much as their promotion and production was awful.

So we were over at Chitose's mom's friends house for drinks (I'm on vacation in Japan), and the TV was on. It was some kind of Celebrity Bowling show, with famous people teamed up with former pro bowlers. It was pretty interesting, as you saw the famous people slowly get better as the ex-pro-bowlers gave them advice. Everyone got all excited as they finally started rolling spares and strikes.

There was one celeb on the show, a woman approaching young middle age, who was really positive: smiling and laughing and encouraging everyone. She seemed to be having the time of her life.

It was Akira Hokuto.

Hokuto's on TV nearly every week. She's part of the TV talent circuit. I once saw her sing a karaoke love song to Sasaki & another time there was a feature about their family going camping. The gimmick they work on TV is that Hokuto wears the pants in the relationship. On one of the big shows last year they did sumo on a soapy, water slide mat. The girl can still take a bump.

Life after wrestling for broken down, painkiller addicted Akira Hokuto. Who would've thought?

Here's a neat little thing. I went to watch the first "ECW One Night Stand" DVD tonight when I got home from work, and I finally looked at what the extras are on it. I saw an "Alternate Commentary" selection and it's the show from when he arrives and everything he says throughout the rest of the night. Not just what was broadcast, but pretty much everything he was saying "off-mic". It sounds like when the NFL do the whole, "Here's what the Coach was saying" thing, the "sounds of the game".

He wasn't loving that Awesome/ Tanaka match as it looked from just his facial reactions. He was shitting all over it, and it's pretty funny, for the most part.

"He" meaning Bradshaw. He had some funny lines, but also spent a lot of time ordering beers and doing stuff like making racist jokes about Tanaka.

Another "joshi star on tv" sighting: I was watching a little Ninja Warrior last night, and saw the women's competition for the first time. I wasn't impressed, the obstacles were incredibly dumbed down from the male version, it seemed like most of the contestants were just there to get on television and there was a lack of serious athletes. The weird part though: in the fifteen minutes I watched, only one woman beat the first stage, and it was Momoe Nakanishi.

I think the whole thing is up on youtube at this point.

Cnn has the full transcript from the Vince and Linda Mcmahon interview up at their web site.

Worth watching if only to remind yourself what a nutball Dynamite Kid is, as he seems to think holding his wife at gun point is no different than any other wrestling rib.

someone should get Meltz to put Tuffy Truesdale on the next HOF ballott, He seems as good of a candidate as Moolah

HA! Tom, do you have a jpeg of the old time advertisement that was something like "Wrestling Gorilla vs Seven Negroes?"

Dave needs to induct those negroes, as I have heard they totally carried that fat, lazy gorilla to some ***** classics.
