They're seemingly projected to this year. I don't think they have yet. But their house shows and outside Orlando PPVs usually draw well.

What? Didn't they have trouble selling 1000 tickets at the last 2 ppv's?

Supposedly they're getting a decent chunk of change from the percentages they charge their contracted talent to work indy shows. I forget the exact amount, but I want to say something like 20% of their indy payoffs goes directly back to TNA.

I know the Iron Sheik/Brian Blair stuff is played out beyond belief, but yesterday's Observer update kinda added a new twist to the matter.

--Brian Blair has been targeted by Gays in South Florida for his opposition to the National Day of Silence on 4/25. Blair, who is in a race for the City Commissioner job in Hillsborough County (Tampa) with Kevin Beckner, a gay candidate, wrote a letter to constituents saying that no group of citizens should be given government sanction to promote their social and sexual agendas upon the rest of us, and especially, our children. He complained that the school system wouldn't allow a moment of silence in the schools for God.

Also, I didn't know that God had died, but if he did, he totally deserves a moment of silence.

Does HHH's Flair luv strike anyone else as more for the cameras than genuine? I don't know that it seems totally fake, but it does seem partially fake. Ditto for his apparent love of old Ray Stevens matches.

Where's the quote from HHH on Ray Stevens?

I can't find the quote but HHH once talked about going to Titan Towers and watching Bockwinkel/Stevens tags a lot for their ring psychology.

Not like there are a lot of Bock/Stevens tags out there. I'm sure if there were some great ones that Trip liked, they would have made it to the AWA set rather than the ones we've seen before. Funny thing is that Stevens doesn't really look all that great on them. Nick is perfectly good, but I'm still waiting for a Stevens match where he shows flashes of being a king.

Anyone know what this is all about? (from Meltzer)

We have exclusive news on something that happened backstage at Wrestlemania regarding a crime committed, what major names were victimized and how that even caused the company have to make emergency responses to get some top guys on the European tour that is currently going on.

After reading that Trish interview from the LAW on the Observer site I have to say she came off as kind of conceited.

In fact she comes off that way in a lot of the media appearances she does.

I'm a big fan of hers and I'm sure she's a fine person but she just has this natural arrogant "vibe" around her. Both on television and in real life.

Batista's $60k Rolex was stolen, as was Matt Hardy's passport. They had to rush through an application for another to enable him to go on the trip to Europe.

RAW was really good tonight. I really liked both Orton/Regal and Jericho/Umaga. HHH/JBL was looking surprisingly good until it was cut off, but if the idea was to make you want to see a full length match between the two at some point in the future, I do think they accomplished that. I really liked the slow build at the beginning of that match (matwork leading to tempers flaring) and just wish it could have gotten more time.

Also, HHH has suddenly become someone who doesn't win when you think he's going to, and who has no problem selling a heel beatdown. It's happened gradually, to a point where I realized tonight he's not pushed as being invincible anymore. Robbed, yeah. My thought when watching Orton/Cena/HHH at Mania was that the match made it painfully obvious that HHH was no longer needed in the main event scene, because Orton and Cena were more than capable of carrying things on their own. I still feel that way, and wouldn't mind seeing him drop down the card a little, but he's a lot more tolerable than he was in the immediate post-boom years, and way more tolerable than he was during all the DX comedy in '06.

Of course, I realize we're probably less than a month away from a title run and him becoming the top heel again, and he'll probably go overboard in that role again just like he did before. With Batista teasing a heel turn, and HHH also wanting to turn again, and Orton right there, I'm curious if they're going to do the obvious.

So I've decided to start watching WWE TV again.

I will admit that I like a lot of the stuff I see, but I think RAW is the better show than Smackdown, at least for now. Between mock funerals, Great Khali's peace offering, and Edge and Vickie Guerrero getting matching pedicures, Smackdown is way too skit-heavy, and skit-heavy in the main event scene at that.

On that last note, Edge is supposed to be the top heel, and they're always putting him in these horrible sketches where he has to show his acting ability. I don't understand the point of actually showing Edge and VG getting massages and pedicures, and why they can't just leave them off the show, only to have Edge do a promo the following week thanking Vickie for giving him the week off the week prior, and that now, he's relaxed and more focused than ever on taking the title off the Undertaker at Backlash. What is the purpose of having a camera there? Also, Smackdown is one night per week. They have six days off between each show, not counting house shows. Why wouldn't Edge and Vicki go do this on their day off instead of when Smackdown is actually taking place?

If they still felt like they had to do this skit, why not have Edge do a live promo at the beginning of the show about how he's more relaxed and focused than he was going into Wrestlemania, and he has Vickie Guerrero to thank for it, because she took him for a massage earlier in the week. He could then say something like that VG used her pull as GM to demand that the cameras show the event, and that clips will be shown to everyone throughout the night.

I'm probably making a big deal of nothing, but the thing that has always bugged me most about this company is that the heels are the dumbest and least effective people on the planet most of the time. If they're wanting to build around Edge for a long time, why would they have him doing stuff like this? It just doesn't make sense to me.

That aside, I like the Morrison/Miz tag team a lot, and I'm amazed that through a combination of luck and foresight, they've managed to make an undercard title feud between Matt Hardy and MVP into a really big deal.

I don't think it's a secret that I think really highly of Smackdown, but it is very much your AAA type show where you watch the undercard and then only stick around for the main eventers if you're feeling lucky. Usually, that's more about bad booking than bad wrestling, but then, as you noted, the main event scene is pretty skit heavy, so it's often the bad booking on display. Edge really has devolved horribly as a character since jumping to Smackdown, and he was never more than competent in the ring, and often outright bad. Batista is fine, but his babyface character had become unwatchable over the last year. Hopefully, the heel turn will fix that, but it's off to a disappointing start. The Undertaker is pretty reliably awesome, so hopefully, now that he's the champ, that'll help matters. If it's true that they're going to draft Umaga to Smackdown (and really, he needs a change of scenery pretty badly), I'm begging for a Taker/Umaga title program. Until then, or until Rey heals up, or until MVP, Matt Hardy, and/or Chuck Palumbo get pushed as full-time main event players, the World Title scene is going to be pretty anemic. Still, the undercard is really, astoundingly vibrant right now. You put Smackdown's undercard with Raw's main event scene, you've got one hell of a show.
