Loss
I watched a HHH/Benoit vs Rock/Jericho match from RAW in 2000 last night, which took place right before Backlash. Really awesome, fast-paced, heated match, worth seeing and talking about. This was fresh off the fake title win, and if Jericho was less popular than Rock, it wasn't enough to be noticeable. HHH wasn't necessarily "better" then, but he sure seemed a lot fresher, and was much more enjoyable when he had a pair of really over babyfaces to play off of. sek69
Hardy's contract is up in July and there is a possiblity that he won't renew due to burnout. Â Actually the story is they want him to sign a long term (like 3 year) deal and he wants a shorter one to avoid past situations where he got burned out. WWE wants all their top guys on lock for the long term but I think Jeff realizes that burnout could and probably would lead to his drug issues popping back up. Â Also funny is how WWE is apparently pissed that despite them always telling the boys that they can take a break whenever they need to, that Jeff just might do that. I think he was better then, in the sense that he wasn't as slowed down then by injuries, age and his bloated muscle mass as he is now. I don't think his quads could hold up to such a fast paced match today. Â McMahon has enough money to give him paid leave if necessary, so fuck WWE for this behaviour Who says WWE aren't willing to give him paid leave if necessary, as they are willing to do that for Shawn, Undertaker and Hunter? The problem isn't so much a willingness, but having so little depth in headliners, most of whom are injury prone or broken down, that often it has to be all hands on deck to have enough star power for two touring groups. KrisZ
This is from today's Meltz update and the fucking awesome files. Â -Karl Stern noted to us about a riot at a Southeastern Wrestling show last night. There were more than 250 fans at the show and during the Mike Jackson retirement ceremony, he was attacked by heels and the place came unglued. A woman reported a man pulled a knife on her and her husband. Before police could squelch the problem, an elderly man went to his vehicle and came in the arena with an axe to attack the heels. Police confiscated the axe before he attacked the heels. During all this, a woman actually called 911 to request an ambulance for Jackson because of the beatdown. MikeCampbell
Has anyone held more titles for one promotion than Barry Windham in NWA/WCW? Not in terms of number times that he was champion, but just for sheer number of titles that he held for that particular company. Â NWA World Title (1993) NWA and WCW Tag Titles (1988 with Luger and 1992 with Dustin) NWA United States Title (1988-89) NWA United States Tag Team Titles (1986-87) WCW TV Title (1992) NWA Western States Heritage Title (1987-88)
goodhelmet
Hmmm, there is the National title to consider as well so I would have to look at a list of National title holders who also held those other belts. .

Tim Evans
So I'm watching the USWA dvds I got from Loss from Summer of 95 and I had no idea Vader was in USWA? Was that just a one time appearance or what? Either way him squashing Jobbers in the MSC was awesome. He killed for New South member Korey Williams with multiple powerbombs. Boondocks Kernoodle
Good news on the WCW DVD from the new WON: Â The word we got some time ago regarding the DVD is the people who put it together were completely, and I mean completely, clueless of the actual history. Their knowledge of WCW history appeared to be scouring the Internet and reading Scott Keith-level historical material This will be fun.

Jingus
Since the WWE had a million belts, there were plenty of guys who held all kinds of titles. Bradshaw, Jericho, RVD, Angle, Kane, Booker, Big Show, and both Hardys have all held at least half a dozen different belts. Â So I'm watching the USWA dvds I got from Loss from Summer of 95 and I had no idea Vader was in USWA? Was that just a one time appearance or what? Either way him squashing Jobbers in the MSC was awesome. He killed for New South member Korey Williams with multiple powerbombs. He mentions it in his shoot interview it was part of his Killing Dudes World Tour or something. Â Heh, Kory told me about that. He was in his first year, was scared senseless, and moved his head at an inopportune moment during the corner punches, thus getting knocked the fuck out. To my knowledge that was the only time Vader showed up there, which was more notable since the Undertaker was in the main event that night and it was incredibly rare to have a WWF guy and a WCW guy on the same show. Boondocks Kernoodle
Speaking of belts, Alvarez reported in the latest F4W newsletter that WWE has barred wrestlers from wearing their belts around their waist because it reminds Vince of that old school rasslin' that he hates so much. However, I'm pretty sure I saw Eddie Colon wearing his two tag belts on Monday and hopefully he will be fined very heavily.

goc
That belt thing doesn't even make sense. What the hell is the difference between carrying it on your shoulder and wearing it? I'll believe that one is true when I see it cuz a lot of the guys with belts today wear them, like Edge and the Colons.
sek69
I think the belt thing had to be a rib by Alvarez on Vince's "everything old school is bad" mindset. Primo has worn both belts ever since they unified them.
