Afi gets the win tonight over Champion. Can him and Cocoa carry that momentum into SuperBrawl?

Props to you for bringing the Moondogs seriously back in the game.

Jaggers gets in a strong showing.

Linda earns her money and helps Street get a huge win over Gibson.

Fuller pulls out all the tricks to beat Wright. Fuller gets a ticket to SuperBrawl.

Worldwide,

Finlay, Travis and Radiance get the showcases.

Pitbull earns his way into SuperBrawl to face Fuller. I liked writing for Pitbull and happy to see him in a strong slot here.

SuperBrawl has been built up so well! One thing I think is cool, is the world tag title match in the main event. RnR and the Commonwealth have defiantly earned it.

Another great week for the NWA.  Just a few observations...

First... You have the best jobbers and nicknames in the game!  Very creative.

Next... I love how the writers of Dawn of War have all gotten the most out of the Exotic Adrian Street.  Nice win here over Robert Gibson even though he had a little help.

Next... I am so into the Bill Kazmaier and Black Bart feud.  I recently watched some shoot interviews with Black Bart and he is awesome.  A real down to Earth guy.  Also very underrated.  I think he was like the NWA National Champ at one point.

Next... Robert Fuller is quickly becoming a top dog in the NWA!

Lastly... SuperBrawl is looking good!

From the Boutwell Auditorium in Birmingham Alabama.

Airing live on the USA Network on 2/18/88.

On Commentary: Gordon Solie

To become the Inaugural NWA Heritage Champion.

"Tennessee Stud" Robert Fuller defeats "Pitbull" Kerry Brown. Brown had Fuller in position for a Powerbomb when Jimmy Golden ran down and distracted the ref allowing Tough Guy Inc to sneak in and hit a double Lariat. The ref turns around to see Fuller making the pin and counts to three.

The Renegade Warriors (Chris & Mark Youngblood) defeat The Moondogs (Rex & Spot) w/"Number One" Paul Jones when Chris pinned Spot with a top rope sunsetflip. The Moondogs jumped the Renegades after the bell starting a brawl that security had to break up.

NWA United States Tag Team Titles.

The New Breed (Chris Champion & Sean Royal)(c) defeat The South Pacific Connection (Siva Afi & Cocoa Samoa) when Champion pinned Afi with his feet on the ropes.

"Rugged" Ron Garvin & the debuting "Doctor of Desire" Tom Prichard defeat Radiance"Jimmy Del Ray & Chic Donavon" w/ Precious when Prichard pinned Donovan with a Super kick.

Southern Street Fight.

"World's Strongest Man" Bill Kazmaier vs Black Bart

These two brawl all around the arena & batter each other with chairs, chains and even the ring bell. The finish sees Bart lay Kazmaier on a table and go up for the "Texas Trash Compactor". Kazmaier gets up and crotches Bart on the top rope. He then pulls the table closer before putting Bart through it with a second rope powerslam to finally claim a win over the dangerous outlaw.

The Paul Jones Army (Matt Borne, The Great Kabuki & Abdullah the Butcher) w/"Number One" Paul Jones defeat Super Strong Machine and The Zero Fighters (Keiichi Yamada & Hiroshi Hase) when Abby jabbed Hase in the throat with a fork then pinned him with the "Sudanese Meat Cleaver"

*Before the main event, we see a graphic reading "Crockett Cup 88"*

Main Event. NWA World Tag Team Titles.

The Rock n Roll Express (Ricky Morton & Robert Gibson)(c) vs The Commonwealth (Adrian Street & Bill Dundee) w/Ms Linda

We close the night with the highly anticipated rematch for the tag titles. The champs don't have the element of surprise this time & the challengers are extra focused. We get about 25 minutes of intense action with everything from southern style brawling, technical wrestling and some high speed offense from the champs. The Commonwealth isolate Morton who plays face-in-peril like only he can. Eventually he makes the tag & Gibson comes in like a house of fire. The end sees Street holding Gibson while Dundee comes off the top with a axhandle but Gibson moves & Dundee takes out his own partner! Morton comes in & the champs hit a double dropkick to retain.

Once again, the build up to this event has been a thrill ride.

Fuller gets a lot of help to put Pitbull down and claim the Heritage title. Fuller is having one heck of a career resurgence in the NWA.

Renegade Warriors get the win but looks like the Moondogs aren't done with them just yet.

SPC were looking strong going into Superbrawl but the New Breed come out on top and retain.

WOW! Wasn't expecting the Doctor of Desire to show up. He delivers and helps get Ronnie his shot at Jimmy Jam.

After one wild and crazy feud, Kaz finally ends it with one hell of a finish! Damn!

Jones's men get the job done.

RnR and Commonwealth give the fans a classic to end the night. RnR send the fans home happy with a double dropkick.

Fantastic blow off!

Fuller and Golden getting some big time heat in Alabama is great booking.

Kazmaier over Bart and then the RnR Express over the Commonwealth give fans of all types of matches something to be excited about.  Good booking.

Love Abbie and his fork!

From the Georgia Mountain Center in Savannah Ga.

Previously recorded & airing on 3/4/88 on the USA Network.

On Commentary: Gordon Solie.

Ring announcer & interviews: Sean Moony

Match #1

Billy Joe Travis vs Barry O

After taking a week off so the USA Network could air a special for Black History Month, the NWA is back with a bang. O's cocky preening irkes the fans while Travis'good ol'boy energy makes him a natural face which ensures a good pop when he takes the win via the "Just a swingin" neckbreaker.

Match #2

Tough Guy Inc (Don Bass & Big Daddy Cyrus) defeat The Georgia Bulldogs with a double Lariat on Bulldog #1.

After the match Tough Guy Inc as well as Jimmy Golden & the NEW NWA Heritage Champion Robert Fuller join Sean Moony at ringside. Fuller crows about being the last NWA World Television champion but especially being the first EVER NWA Heritage Champion. Says he used Brown's pointed head to carve his name in history. Says he's proud to announce that Tough Guy Inc is the newest subsidiary of the Stud Stable which is bigger & better than ever which he'll prove when he retains against that "over hyped circus performer" Bill Kazmaier in the main event. When asked what his role in the new Stud Stable is Golden just grins and says he & Robert have been watching each other's back's since they were knee high to a grasshopper and that's not changing anytime soon. Says anyone who wants a shot at Robert from here on out has to get through "The Gatekeeper" Jimmy Golden.

Match #3

Ranger Ross defeats "Merciless" Joey Mercer with the "Combat kick".

Match #4

"The Doctor of Desire" Tom Prichard vs "Rotten" Ron Starr

Prichard made his shocking debut at SuperBrawl when he teamed with Ron Garvin against Radiance in a winning effort. Tonight he makes his NWA Main Event against a different Ron, Atlanta born journeyman Ron Starr. With his long hair and muscular physique Prichard certainly got the attention of the young women in the audience. Starr used every trick in his arsenal and managed to take control at a number of points but Prichard fought through it all to score his "Super kick" for his first single win in the NWA.

Match #5

Col Debeers w/Jr Foley defeats Manuel "Macho" Comacho with the face first Piledriver.

After the match Debeers grabs the house mic and announces that he has found a new mission in the NWA and that is to rescue the United States Title from that "flea ridden barbarian" Bruiser Brody and give so he can serve as an example what every American should strive to be. Debeers then shoves the mic back into Mooney's chest and leaves to a torrent of boos.

Match #6

"Raging Bull" Manny Fernandez defeats The Soviet Super Soldier with the "Flying Burrito".

Main Event. NWA Heritage Title.

"Tennessee Stud" Robert Fuller(c) vs "World's Strongest Man" Bill Kazmaier

Kazmaier is coming of a marquis win at SuperBrawl over Black Bart and is looking to turn his momentum into gold while Fuller seeks to avoid the indignity of losing his title on his first defense. The two go full tilt at each other producing a highly entertaining hoss fight of a main event. The end sees Kazmaier unloading on Fuller in the corner only for the ref to pull him back giving Fuller time to what many insist is him "loading up" his boot. Kazmaier breaks free from the ref and charges the champ who brings his boot up and it catches Kaz square on the jaw. The challenger goes down like a ton of bricks allowing Fuller to make the cover for his first successful defense. After the bell, the rest of the Stud Stable comes down and begin stomping away on Kazmaier until Kerry Brown runs down with a chair sending the heels into retreat.

The Minnesota Wrecking Crew (Arn & Ole Anderson) w/JJ Dillon defeat The Renegade Warriors (Chris & Mark Youngblood) after Dillon distracted the ref while The Moondogs slid in the ring and hit the Renegade's with their bones. Billy Joe working his good ol boy gimmick.

Fuller is quickly moving his way up to top heel. Wins the Heritage title, has the "gatekeeper" watching his back and now enlists Tough Guy Inc into the stable. Good stuff!

Prichard's off to an amazing start. I expect big things.

Debeers puts down Macho Camacho (LOL) and cuts a heat filled promo on Brody. Say what you want about him, but Debeers has guts going after Brody.

Ross and Fernandez get shining moments.

Thanks to the loaded boot, Fuller stops Kaz cold. I'll say it again, you're doing an incredible job with Fuller.

Worldwide,

Pride, Morgan and Jaggers get the W's.

Whatever it was JJ paid Jones, it was well worth it.

The Crockett Cup is coming! I have a feeling this year's edition is going to be stacked beyond belief.

Those would be two shows I would have loved to have seen.

Prichard and Ron Starr would have been great to have seen.  These two are great and bumping and selling.

DeBeers getting ready for Bruiser... very interesting.

Fuller and Stud Stable look like they are getting ready to be the top dogs in the NWA... except that the 4 Horsemen are still there.

Speaking of the 4 Horsemen... interesting payoff to Paul Jones after the help from the Moondogs.

Looking forward to the Crockett Cup

From the Asheville Civic Center in Asheville NC.

On Commentary: Gordon Solie.

Ring Announcer/interviews: Sean Moony.

Match #1

"Hangman" Bobby Jaggers vs "The Monster" Rip Morgan w/Jr Foley

Jaggers tried everything he could think of to put a dent in Foley's wildman but whatever he threw at the brute, Morgan kept coming back for more. Jaggers goes for his "Hangman's neckbreaker" but Morgan breaks free and delivers a stiff forearm to the back of Jagger's head. Jaggers staggers up and Morgan puts him right back down with a chokeslam for the 1..2...3.

Match #2

Commando Boone defeats The Carolina Reaper with a big splash.

After the match Boone joins Moony and says even though Frasier has been resigned to a top secret mission to deepest, darkest.... Arkansas he & Ranger Ross will continue to do Old Glory proud as the NWA's Special Forces.

Match #3

Radiance (Jimmy Del Ray & Chic Donavon) w/Precious defeat Paul Blart & Ricky Bobby with a double flapjack on Bobby.

Match #4

Tom "MegaMan" McGee vs "Chief" Joe Lightfoot

As McGee is posing on the turnbuckle before the bell, Lightfoot runs over and whacks him in the back of the knee with his "War Club". The ref is hesitant to start the match but McGee insists. What follows is a bit hard to watch as while Megan is able to get some good shots in it only takes one shot to the leg for Lightfoot to retake control. Lightfoot finally applies the "Indian Death Lock" and though McGee struggles against it, the ref ultimately makes the call to end the match.

Match #5. Non title.

NWA United States Champion Bruiser Brody defeats Medical Bill with the "King Kong" Knee Drop.

After the match, Brody cuts an intense promo directed at Debeers. Says he wouldn't wear all this fur and carry around a chain if he wanted to be hard to find. Says Debeers if free to step up whenever he's ready but better understand that when he does, he's going back to South Africa in pieces!

Match #6

"Terrific" Terry Taylor w/JJ Dillon defeats Jive Owens with the "Five-arm".

Main Event.

"Pitbull" Kerry Brown & "World's Strongest Man" Bill Kazmaier vs Tough Guy Inc (Don Bass & Big Daddy Cyrus) w/Jimmy Golden

Brown & Kazmaier both have issues with the Stud Stable and the two Canadian bruisers have decided to work together to take on the most recent additions to the group. We get a rough & tumble tag team brawl with Kazmaier continuing to impress as he repeatedly slams both his opponents. Jimmy Golden gets on the apron and starts yelling at the ref but he's unexpectedly pulled down by Steve Wright. The two start trading blows while in the ring, Cyrus is going for the 10 punches in the corner on Brown but the Pitbull turns it into a Powerbomb for the win!

Super Strong Machine defeats Punisher with the "Machine Lariat".

Main event.

"Gorgeous Jimmy Garvin w/Precious defeats "The Haitian Sensation" Tyree Pride after Precious pushes Pride off the top rope allowing Garvin to hit the Brainbuster.

In other news....

Before his match Garvin cuts a promo saying that while Ron and "that dime store Jimmy Garvin knock off" only beat his proteges by sheer dumb luck, he's a crushingly handsome man of his word so Ron will get his one-on- one match but like everything else it runs on Jimmy Garvin time, meaning it'll happen when he's good & ready.

Regarding the Crockett Cup, commentary excitedly announces the news from the AWA that not only will last year's winners, Jumbo Tsurata and Tatsumi Fujinami be entering once again but the AWA will be hosting a qualifying tournament to decide the other team. Jaggers found out that Morgan is truly a monster.

I agree with LTS, the Arkansas line cracked me up.

Radiance gets a good showcase. I'll admit, I'm a big fan of these guys.

Lightfoot is in full heel mode tonight and it looks like we're going to get another hot feud.

After that promo, Debeers might be thinking twice about going after Brody.

Fun TV main event with an exciting finish. You did a great job of tying in all the personal issues here.

Worldwide,

Borne breaks out the Stump Puller. Always loved that name. Add 'Just a swingin neckbreaker' and 'Machine Lariat' to the list.

Jimmy Jam gets a solid win and cuts another charismatic promo. He's too cool.

The Crockett Cup is heating up. This event is so unique because it's the only time of the year where all the promotions get to battle it out. Can't wait!

SO many cool things in this week's shows.  I love the jobber names you come up with.  Nice of Ricky Bobby to make an appearance.  I guess he found out that if your not first, your last!  I hope Medical Bill has a good doctor.

Really enjoying the Garvin feud.  Every time I look over the rosters of all of us, I keep seeing how many times both Ron and Jimmy have moved from one place to another.  I think that is because we all enjoy using them.  Good work here.

Also really can't wait to see where you go with Brody-DeBeers.  Really big angle for which ever direction you want to go.

Match #1

Ranger Ross vs The Great Kabuki w/ "Number One" Paul Jones

A nice back-and-forth brawl to start us off this week. Kabuki and Jones use every dirty trick they can think of but Ross battles through it. The finish sees Jones get on the apron to yell at Ross only to get a "Combat Kick" for a good sized pop. While the ref is checking to make sure Jones isn't dead, Kabuki sprays Ross with the "Asain mist" and nails the Thrust kick for the win.

Match #2

"British Magician" Steve Wright defeats Edward Teach with the "Octopus hold".

The Celestial Trinity join a visibly weirded out Moony. Zodiac says he & his fellow "warriors of infinity" have corrected the "galactic glitch" that separated them from the six man tag team titles and have left a trail of broken bodies ever since. Says that anyone who thinks to challenge the match of the cosmos by taking these titles from them shall be crushed with all the force of a black hole.

Match #3

The Celestial Trinity (Jason the Terrible & Angel of Death) defeat Surf's Up (Moondoggie & The Big Kahuna) when AoD pins Kahuna with the "Death Sentence".

Match #4

"World's Strongest Man" Bill Kazmaier vs"The Gatekeeper" Jimmy Golden

Kerry Brown was in Kazmaier's corner while Fuller was in his cousins. Kazmaier's incredible strength gave the veteran Golden all he could handle with the Gatekeeper of the Stud Stable eventually having to resort to a low blow which lead to the match winning Piledriver. Golden & Fuller try to keep attacking after the bell bringing Brown into the ring. The four brawl for a bit until Bass and Cyrus come down to turn the tide in the Stud Stable's favor. They beat down the until Ranger Ross and Commando Boone charge the ring and together with Brown and Kazmaier send the heels running. The four men shake hands and it seems the Stud Stable's problems just multiplied.

Match #5

"Rugged" Ron Garvin defeats "Killer" Kyle Knolastname with the "Hands of Stone" punch.

JJ Dillon joins Moony and declares that he has two things to say regarding the upcoming Crockett Cup, one a spoiler and the other an announcement. The spoiler is that The Minnesota Wrecking Crew will sweep the whole thing and walk away with the cup and one million dollars richer. The announcement is that on night 2 of the Crockett Cup, Tully Blanchard will be cashing in his "Merry Christmas" title shot and will be taking back what he never should've lost, the NWA World Heavyweight Championship.

Match #6

The Minnesota Wrecking Crew (Arn & Ole Anderson) w/JJ Dillon defeat Mr Higglesby & Lurch Evans when Arn hit the Spinebuster on Evans.

Main Event. Non title.

NWA United States Champion Bruiser Brody vs David "Fit" Finlay w/Jr Foley

With Col Debeers positioning himself as a top challenger to the U.S title, commentary speculate that Finlay facing Brody tonight is recon for when the Col makes his challenge. The match itself is a hard-hitting affair with neither man giving a inch. Finlay puts up a fierce fight but ultimately succumbs to the "King Kong" Knee Drop.

I like what you're doing with both Ross and Kabuki. Ross has been a workhorse while Kabuki's getting a bit of a career resurgence.

Good showcase for the Trinity. Both promo wise and ring wise.

Looks like the Stud Stable's enemies have united. This is going to get good.

Rugged Ron gets a KO win, but his opponent has the best last name I've seen LOL.

Will the Crockett Cup be the Horsemen's big night? JJ thinks so. I can't wait for Flair vs. Tully!

Brody vs. Finlay is one hard hitting TV main event. I know Debeers was watching closely.

Worldwide,

Lightfoot's another guy who's having a nice career resurgence. Turning heel has worked wonders for him.

Prichard and Street get in some solid TV time.

Precious's interference costs Radiance the Crockett Cup. I'm sure the Warriors had a good laugh.

The hot new promotion IPW sends in their teams.

This year's Crockett Cup is going to be off the charts!

Match #1

Billy Joe Travis vs "The Monster" Rip Morgan w/JR Foley

Though the fans did their best to cheer Travis on, and he does manage to leave Morgan rocking at a couple of occasions the result is never in doubt with the Monster claiming another victim via the Chokeslam. Solie asks what many fans are no doubt wondering, who can stop this Monster?

Match #2

NWA Special Forces (Ranger Ross & Commando Boone) defeat The Masked Yuppies when Boone pinned Yuppie #1 with a big splash.

The SPC join Mooney and put over their Crockett Cup qualifying match tomorrow. They say that while they'd of course love to win the trophy and the million dollar prize what they're really hoping for is to meet up with The New Breed. They say they haven't given up on the U.S tag titles and whether it's in the tournament or not, they will meet again.

Match #3

"Rotten" Ron Starr defeats John "The Fish" Herman with a double armed DDT.

Match #4

"Super Rookie" Hiroshi Hase w/Super Strong Machine vs "Maniac" Matt Borne w/"Number One" Paul Jones

Hase has his "sensei" SSD in his corner who makes it his mission to keep Jones at bay. Though Jones is a trained wrestler -and a former World Tag Team Champion at that- he still is hesitant to step to the Japanese bruiser. This allows Hase to focus entirely on withstanding Borne's frantic assault. Borne is unrelenting in his attack but Hase's technical ability keeps him from being entirely overwhelmed. The two trade momentum until the bell rings signaling the 15 minute time limit has expired. Borne looked ready to continue the fight but SSM got in the ring alongside his student causing Jones to lead his man away.

Match #5

"Gorgeous" Jimmy Garvin w/Precious defeats Mason Dixie with the Brainbuster.

Sean Moony proudly introduces the NWA World Heavyweight Champion, the "Nature Boy" Ric Flair! Flair is all smiles as he takes in the cheers of the crowd. He hypes the fact that he's held the title for nearly a full year and says as great a feeling as that is, it will feel even sweeter to retain against Blanchard one more time on the way there. Says he doesn't know when or even if this feud with the Horsemen will ever end but if any of them thinks they've got what it takes to ride space mountain all they need to do is lace'em up, walk that aisle and he'll give them the lesson of a wrestling lifetime. Whoooooo.

Match #6

The Renegade Warriors (Chris & Mark Youngblood) defeat The Convicts (Tiny & Bubba) with a double chop on Tiny.

Main Event

"Raging Bull" Manny Fernandez vs Col Debeers w/Jr Foley

Debeers has made it known that he's on the hunt for the NWA United States Title held for Bruiser Brody and tonight he takes on a man cut from much the same cloth as the champion, Manny Fernandez. The two beat seven shades of hell out of each other until Fernandez runs off the ropes looking for the "Flying Burrito". Unfortunately Foley is there and uses the opportunity to crack Fernandez in the back with the South African flag while Debeers has the ref distracted. Wasting no time, Debeers rushes to scoop Fern up into the face first Piledriver for the tainted win. Foley enters the ring and hands the flag to Debeers who waves it around until he sees Fernandez getting to his feet and decides to hit him in the back with the flag. He continues to rain blows down -while the fans rain boos down on him- until Bruiser Brody storms the ring swinging his chain. The heels bail to the floor while Brody stomps around barking. Brody shouts at Debeers to get back in the ring and fight. Debeers seems to consider it until a brief conversation with Foley leads to the two walking away.
