Timbo Slice Posted January 19, 2023 Report Posted January 19, 2023 Feel like this is gonna be a tough show for everyone to get through, but also trust them to put on a thoughtful show, too.
Matt D Posted January 19, 2023 Report Posted January 19, 2023 I tapped midway through the first match. I like the idea of Jarrett’s goofs interacting with Cassidy’s goofs but not tonight maybe. Will try again tomorrow.
Jmare007 Posted January 19, 2023 Report Posted January 19, 2023 Absolutely adored that struggle during the surfboard spot.
Jmare007 Posted January 19, 2023 Report Posted January 19, 2023 Give us a best of 7 between these two!!!!

Coffey Posted January 19, 2023 Report Posted January 19, 2023 Man, what a step down for Danielson to wrestle Brian Cage next week.

I'm actually interested if he can make the David vs Goliath formula work with Cage. If he actually gets the crowd to respond, boo Cage and get hot for Dragon's eventual comeback and win, it would be pretty damn impressive. I thought he was going to ask for Lance Archer for this spot though.
KawadaSmile Posted January 19, 2023 Report Posted January 19, 2023 Turning Storm and Saraya seems... odd.
SirEdger Posted January 19, 2023 Report Posted January 19, 2023 This so came out of nowhere. Didn't take long for TK to screw things up with Saraya, didn't he? And as good as was Darby vs KUSHIDA, I would've switched that match with Danielson vs Bandido instead.

It makes sense, Saraya turned herself heel in the lead up to Full Gear and Toni needed some direction. It gives the division a much needed arc as well beyond it revolving around DMD.
Timbo Slice Posted January 19, 2023 Author Report Posted January 19, 2023 Seems like they’re building to Mercedes debuting at Revolution as a face “outsider” which would be interesting.
sek69 Posted January 19, 2023 Report Posted January 19, 2023 Its amazing that the storyline is Bryan has to win all these matches to get the title shot, but he's so great he ends up getting the crowd to root for his opponent to win.
sek69 Posted January 19, 2023 Report Posted January 19, 2023 Also Saraya pretty much turned herself heel in her very first promo where she basically (if not unintentionally) made AEW look second rate.
Lukeless Posted January 19, 2023 Report Posted January 19, 2023 Danielson vs. Bandido was incredible.
RingoPlaysDrums Posted January 19, 2023 Report Posted January 19, 2023 It really was. Between this and the Takeshita match, Danielson's had a great start to 2023. Top Flight beating the Bucks was cool.

Bryan is great, but the psychology of this is really weird. Going into the PPV as the face challenger to the dastardly heel by beating a series of babyfaces? Idk, something about it is off, even if it’s hard to complain about these excellent TV matches we’re getting. Top Flight versus Bucks was exactly what I expected it to be, but at the same time not to the umpteenth degree it could have been. Top Flight winning was nice, they’re both green but are really sympathetic babyfaces.
MoS Posted January 19, 2023 Report Posted January 19, 2023 About to start watching Dynamite, have been unspoiled so far except the fact that WBD did not allow AEW to pay tribute to Jay Briscoe, which is total bullshit.
MoS Posted January 19, 2023 Report Posted January 19, 2023 Jay Lethal is mid as fuck, but I am sorry, feel free to say that this is my Indian bias, but Sonjay Dutt and Satnam Singh are great
MoS Posted January 19, 2023 Report Posted January 19, 2023 Very good match though, he has been a part of two back-to-back high-quality, really heated and loud title matches. Hahahaha Satnam Singh is the best

Why are the Bucks doing heel taunts. How can you use a song like Carry On My Wayward Son for many of your entrances and still act like heels? Why are they like this? You know what, I actually really want to see the Elite being booked and presented by Vince McMahon. I bet that will be really interesting.
MoS Posted January 19, 2023 Report Posted January 19, 2023 None of the Bucks' offence looks like it actually hits their opponents. I so prefer Nick Jackson (and Omega) in singles
MoS Posted January 19, 2023 Report Posted January 19, 2023 The finish was way too indyriffic, but this was actually a very good match. Credit to the Elite, they are very unselfish wrestlers. This match was all about Top Flight. And Top Flight deserves this.

I think it's a mix of him facing babyfaces that the fans want to see more from and fans knowing that these matches are a mere formality. They know Danielson is facing MJF at the PPV, there's no real stakes as no one believes Dragon is losing the title shot (even more so because there's no one else to challenge Max if Danielson fails on this quest). So they root for the underdog babyface because they kinda know Dragon is already set for the PPV.
