AEW TV - 12/6 - 12/9 - Make the Entire Promotion Out of Eddie/Bryan Already

I have to admit, I am kind of shocked that AEW is doing another Canadian tour this spring, considering how the last one was pretty much a disaster. Apparently the talent had no end of travel problems during the last one and on top of that the ticket sales were shit (due in no small part to the ridiculous ticket prices.)

Plus, Tony was booking arenas which were way too big. At least this time he’s smartened up a bit and is running the Coca-Cola Colosseum in Toronto, which is the appropriate sized venue for AEW, as it seats maximum around 6000 for wrestling. Running Scotiabank Arena right before a pay-per-view, and then running Hamilton right after was a really stupid decision last time.

Now I guess we’ll see if the tickets are $325 again.

Gonna try to attend the Dynamite/Rampage tapings in Quebec City on March 27. About 40 minutes from where I live so it's a very decent drive to make.

When the tickets go on sale, let us know how much they are. I am curious if AEW learned their lesson from the last tour and is either going to lower prices or do something about secondary brokers buying up all the seats. Plus in theory, Quebec City is a “smaller market” than Toronto so the prices might be lower.

What venue are they running, what’s the seating capacity and have you ever seen live wrestling there before?

Looks like they are running the big arena that was built in the attempt to get an NHL team back and it  seats 18,000.

Running Centre Vidéotron, same building that WWE ran for RAW in August.

Exactly. According to official numbers, RAW drew 10,867 in Quebec City (I think the configuration for the show was between 11 and 13K for RAW) so I assume that Dynamite's configuration is gonna be like half of that so 7K-ish.

All the gloom and doom about ticket stuff and pics of the half empty arena doesn't translate to TV like in the early 10's when WWE was doing half empty arenas and the crowds were every show was like a funeral that the SD sound machine just drew more attention to how completely dead the audience was. On top of dogshit shows.

At least with AEW, the energy is always there in ring and out (except for Rampage I guess) and you'd never know they're only running half the arena unless you're on Wreddit.

It was a very nice episode of Dynamite, with three Continental Classic matches that delivered, Timeless Toni's match was more on point this time (although the pin was ridiculous, that's a pet peeve of mine, try and make an effort ref, please, have the shoulders on the mat before counting), Riho showing up was really cool and hopefully she gets more than a cup of coffee of TV time, nice interactions with the Kingdom, Joe/MJF/Hangman, all that good shit.

Then I dunno, I guess the feed got lost and I got a WWE-style main event with the most obvious badly executed swerve in the history of badly executed swerves (and believe me, I've seen a shitloads of them). And really now, are we supposed to feel bad for Copeland ? He literally tried to murder an 18 years old boy who did nothing to him, really. In what world do we blame Nick Wayne's Mom (yeah, I know, she's got a name now) ? I kinda feel dumb for buying into the angle last week now, because this is still pretty much crap, really. Yeah, Christian Cage might be a great performer, but he's currently a great performer in a shitty movie.

Oh, anyway. Continental Classic is great.

There could be money in the Nuevo Generation Von Erichs winning the world championships in a national promotion and "breaking the curse".

Nope. No one cares about a name that was last relevant in Texas about 35 years ago. And please no because they aren't good. I've seen them in MLW for years. They bring nothing to the table apart from "Our name is Von Erich". They're ok at best, and they've been around for years now. Plus, their rep being what it is (which is completely ridiculous, who the fuck do they think they are ?), I see no upside bringing these nepokids who have done basically nothing notable in their entire career. Having them for a one-shot in Texas to ride on the hype of the movie, if there's any, is ok I guess. There's way too much underutilized actually good to great talent on the roster to bring scrubs just because they have a name that used to be famous (in one fucking state to boot).

Edge vs Christian 2023 was definitely the worst Christian related match I've seen in quite a while. Considering it's something they've wanted to do for 10+ years now, Christian has been top tier since his TNA run all the way to today, and Edge's return run had some of his best in ring work of his entire career, I would have expected something better than whatever that was. Not that I was interested in it to begin with, but still. I know you really kind of have to do something with the two of them together at least once, but hopefully they can quietly move on and get Edge involved in completely fresh matches and feuds.

MJF was also in the Von Erichs movie as well as being a producer, so I would imagine they will be there promoting that.

I hope it's just them and not MJF promoting that, because he was essentially cut from the movie. Would be a wonderful bit as a heel, but since he's a babyface, it doesn't work as much.

Blackpool Combat Club vs. FTR & Mark Briscoe added to Final Battle.

Athena vs. Billie Starkz confirmed as the main event

I still can’t get over the fact that they are running a ROH PPV, but thanks to Tony Khan’s brilliant booking, there isn’t going to be a World Title match or a Tag Team Title match. Hell, I don’t even know if Gates of Agony will be back from Japan in time for there to be a 6 Man Title match.

But there will be an Ethan Page vs. Tony Nese “I Quit” match…so at least there’s that.

Just a reminder for other Canadians like myself who don't pay extra for TSN+, AEW is in Canada this week so Rampage and Collision are on TV. And I guess Danielson is having a tournament match on each show this week so Rampage will be worth checking out.

My PVR automatically records any AEW content that comes out. Check out the graphic that popped up for tonight’s episode of Rampage, featuring a couple of AEW’s top stars!

It was pretty funny that DC got nailed with the knee and into the LeBell Lock IMMEDIATELY after doing not even the full dance lol. Sucks for Garcia to be put in the loser role in a G1, but hopefully it can be a springboard for him to get back to something good.

But the dancing rules and he shouldn't drop it.

If he likes going to night clubs and that life style, he should turn his character into a boxer/MMA fighter type were he lives the good life (dancing included) but when the ring bells he fucks you up.

I feel his eureka moment shouldn't be choosing between "wrestler or sports entertainer" once again. He should realize he can do whatever the hell he wants as long as he's prolific in the ring and come out as a whole new character because of it. Screw what Jericho or Danielson think, find yourself young one.
