Dark Spoiler for Next Week Between that and the Brandi Rhodes therapy video they uploaded to YouTube where it looks like they are going to blame her character change on a head injury sustained when a Cody dive knocked her into the guard rail, maybe they are finally killing off The Nightmare Collective

I'm still plugging along watching the weekly episodes of World Class on the Network, and today I got to the 12/1/84 episode which contains the Terry Gordy/Killer Khan Texas Death Match, and before the show a TV-MA warning on a black screen with bright red letters came up warning me about the explicit nature of the program I was about to watch. There was also stern sounding audio reading the warning to me as well. I don't know if this is new, but I have certainly never seen it before. Just thought it was kind of interesting, that such a stern warning now apparently has to accompany a bloody match.

I think the best thing I've seen regarding the Rumble is a tweet that said something to the effect of "You're all mad that Brock Lesnar is doing this Royal Rumble the same way that you do it on a video game."

I am absolutely shocked that Corbin didn't come out of that port-a-potty covered in fake shit, while Vince's laughter filled the arena.

NXT When Worlds Collide (Now this is what it's like)

Between that and Aichner limping at the end, Imperium took a beating in that one. I feel like there is so much they could do with Walter beyond NXT UK, but I guess it will come down to if Walter wants too, since he seems pretty happy working indies and training guys on top of his minimal WWE work, and if they can get the right people behind that push if he were interested, cause I can see the Vince and Dunn types not getting it. -

Her half crying promo came off very fake, and they can only exploit her story for so long before the fans either stop caring or turn on it. -

It is a good question why Dusty got a tag team tournament. I guess maybe they didn't want to bring back the Bunkhouse Stampede. At least the Dusty/Nikita team had a reason behind it. -

Dude, Joey Styles was so much better than Mauro in every possible way. While I admit he didn't quite fit in anywhere else, Joey was the perfect voice for ECW and what it represented at that time. Mauro just yells whatever the official Fire Pro name for the move being executed is and tries to shoehorn in whatever dated pop culture reference he can vaguely tie in to whatever nonsense he is going on about. In other things I would like to bitch about today.... It appears that Matt Riddle and Pete Dunne are going to win the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic next week. While I like both guys, what the fuck is the point of dedicating a tag team tournament to Dusty Rhodes, and then having a thrown together team of singles guys win it? Seriously, look at the previous winners: Balor and Joe, Authors of Pain, Undisputed Era, Aleister Black and Ricochet, and now most likely Dunne and Riddle. Three thrown together tag teams, 1 actual tag team, and while Undisputed Era is regularly a team, this was Cole and O'Reilly who don't normally team, and they weren't even in the fucking tournament when it started! If they want thrown together teams, just bring back Battle Bowl and dedicate it to Dusty already! -

Comments that don't warrant a thread - Part 4

Is the footage of Jim Crockett Jr's attempted revival of the NWA in 94/95 at the Sportatorium out there and available? -
I didn't feel the need to comment on the rest of your post, because other than having differing opinions on the opener (which really comes down to whether you like the style) I was pretty much in agreeance with you on the content of the episode. I like PAC, but I wouldn't rate him in my Fave 5 or anything like that. I just don't understand this visceral hatred you put in this thread literally every single time he is on TV. There are certainly things to nitpick with the AEW product, but I don't see at any point where he has been part of those things. Obviously you don't like the guy, that's cool. I just don't get making statements like Tony Khan must regret signing him, when he's done nothing but put on good matches. It's not like he's been involved in the segments or angles that are bombing, he hasn't injured anyone, and I can't think they are paying him Jericho money in the first place.

Give it up dude. Everyone else seems to be enjoying Pac's work but you. I agree with you 100% on Spears though. As for the show: I really dug the opening tag match, but I enjoy that PWG style shit and like everyone involved (except Omega) Cody promo was awesome as always, Janela promo not so much. The Nightmare Collective needs to die immediately. No one knows or cares who Luther is, Kong is obviously about done, the Mel chick is fine and can join the Dark Order, and Brandi can go back to managing Cody because no one is buying this shit. Shida and Statlander deserved so much better than being stuck in that garbage. Mox/Guevara was fine for what it was, but I felt like Sammy took a bit too much of the match. But since it was all building to the post match, whatever. Post match was great. 6 man tag was there. Like Thread Killer stated, QT Marshall being there to get pinned was ridiculously obvious. Didn't expect the DDP floor dive! Loved Pac/Allin, two of my favorites in the company. Overall, not a bad episode, but the Nightmare Collective has GOT to go.

TNT has renewed Dynamite until 2023.

Big rumor is that the new contract makes him head booker, he only has to work 40 dates, makes a shitload of money, and can work for NJPW and NWA as well. If true, good for him for getting all he could from the dumpster fire.

I'm sure I could google this and find answers, but since my knowledge of Japanese wrestling is pretty limited and this board is full of knowledgeable people, I will ask here! Whatever happened to Shoji Nakamaki and Hiroshi Ono? I remember them from the Kawasaki Dream show, and they've popped up in other matches involving Funk and Cactus that I've watched, but did they do anything else in puroresu? I know they took a LOT of fucking stupid chair shots to the head in the matches I've seen, so I can only assume they didn't have long careers. But I'm just curious. Were they always deathmatch guys? Did they go on to do anything of note? Appreciate any info! -
I don't disagree with you. Brandi Rhodes living out the Goth phase her parent's wouldn't let her have when she was 15 on national television is fucking terrible. I just felt like the Smash Brothers had a gimmick that was built for modern audiences and seemingly tossed it out the window just cause they couldn't use the name.
-
Here's what I don't get about the Dark Order. This gimmick is obviously the shits and isn't really working. They are both good workers, and the previous video game based gimmick of Player Uno and Player Dos would probably actually get over with today's modern crowd who likely play a lot of video games. Yeah, they couldn't be called the Super Smash Brothers cause Nintendo would sue the shit out of AEW, but there have to be a million other video game related names they could come up with to name the team, no need to toss the baby out with the fucking bath water just cause you had to change your name.

Meth and Hepatitis seems to be the consensus. Of course he still bled all over the place, cause you know... Thankfully his opponent was just Shlak. -

Necro Butcher looking healthy at whatever show trotted him out for a deathmatch this past weekend..... -
Great episode, but man I think the wrong Japanese girl is champion. Shida is fucking awesome.

I can agree that the 3 man commentary booth is unneeded (though his description of Excalibur is ridiculous) and I do find myself agreeing that Kenny Omega does a whole lot of unnecessary gesturing and pointing to the point of being distracting at times. Other than that, I agree with you on the nitpicking. I still particularly like that in the main part of the article he acts like he doesn't know who Riho is. Then at the end says she isn't believable as champion.
