On night 1 of BOLA I thought it was a mediocre show that was very one dimensional. Now night 2 had variety and is a SOTYC. I've still have got to watch night 3.

Plus it's a NO DQ match to boot.

Thoughts on Doc and the Angel Of Death in a chain match. http://prowrestlingonly.com/index.php?/topic/32263-steve-williams-vs-angel-of-death-chain-match-houston-wrestling-22087/

Angel of Death was a gimmick I always dug. As a wrestler he was mediocre. Here he carry's his end. Doc was great here with stiff shots with the chain. His punches were on point. Both guys bled. It didn't go long enough to get repetitive. The cut offs were done well. Just nothing that would put it over the top. No nasty spots you'll remember for years. Overall good stuff. 3 1/4*

Have fun bro.

Thoughts on the Freebirds vs Link/Taylor here. http://prowrestlingonly.com/index.php?/topic/32257-freebirds-vs-missing-linkterry-taylor-22087-houston-wrestling/

Welcome to the club. So many never before seen footage. Great stuff all around. Houston is a town that is easily one of the top 5-10 towns from the 60's-80's and beyond.

I get the psychology of the finish. It was set up to protect Kamala. In the grand scheme of things it didn't matter as long as Kamala wasn't pinned, and Tommy got his hand raised. Just thought their was more sensical ways. For example both are brawling on the floor at 9 Rich sneaks in. Or both are brawling in the ring. Akbar throws fire at Rich misses and hits Kamala and Kamala gets counted out. Or Kamala doesn't break on 10 when Rich is caught in the ropes . Still a super fun match and a great showcase match for Rich.

Yes they use 70's footage from you tube.

People should check out the Taiwan show on NJPW World. The ran a skeleton crew so we got no 6 man tags, and 2 jr singles matches that delivered. It felt fresh for a change. The Jay White/Taguchi match was really great in the 3 3/4* range. White's selling of his hammy was incredible. Kushida/Finley was pretty great too at 3 1/2*. If you don't put selling at a premium I can see people preferring this match. Their were also other good matches on this show.

A guy who would have a spot on my roster. Not a top 100 guy.

Vote and have fun with it. If it's not your cup of tea fine.

Thoughts on Rich vs Kamala here.http://prowrestlingonly.com/index.php?/topic/32233-tommy-rich-vs-kamala-houston-wrestling-72983/

This was a fun match. We start off with both guys throwing hands at one another. Tommy starts sticking and moving. Playing a game of cat and mouse.Tommy even mimmicks Kamala a bit. Finally Kamala is able to get Rich to try a test of strength. Kamala busts Rich open and works the cut with chops. Kamala is even licking at the blood. Tommy starts his comeback and the crowd is solidly behind him. Finally Wildfire knocks Kamala down and the crowd goes nuts. Then it erupts. Akbar, Johnny Rich is in the ring. Friday is in the ring, the crowd goes nuts and it's Hacksaw. Rich pins Akbar with the Thesz press. Of course this makes 0 sense. I loved the match up till the chaotic finish. 2 3/4*

I believe so. Rich and Sawyer brought their feud to San Antonio . So working Houston makes sense.

I love me some Tommy Rich.

Fair for Flair: a mini-series
shoe replied to JerryvonKramer's topic in GWE Podcasts and Publications
Just started the Will show. Will talks about Sting and Nikita having mediocre matches with him as a reply to Parv bringing it up. Will mentions why the Nikita/Magnum matches were far superior to the Flair matches . Flair actually worked Nikita 1st in 85 when he was totally green. I think with Flair he never got out of his comfort zone or formula when working Nikita, or Sting because he always viewed them as that same green piece of talent. He felt this was the best way to present them. Right or wrong I feel that's how Flair viewed them and why they worked the broom stick match. Kind of like a parent views their son or daughter They'll always be their baby. -
I had it at 1 3/4* and way too long was how I described it.

I was one of the people who hated it. Please I would love other people's opinions. I know Parv, Soup, and Kelly liked it a lot. I believe Parv and Soup said it was 4 1/4*. I'd love to get 10 -20 people's opinion on the match.

I just started the Doc. Some thoughts. 1. 1st time he's watched the Clash 1 match in it's entirely. He got chills. 2. We meet his parents and brother. 3, Funny Jerry Jarrett story 4. Wouldn't recognize Rick Steiner and Sting and him traveled for 20 years. 5. Great Luger and Flair story about Sting blowing an interview. 6. Sting wanting to change his match up, and Flair gives the Ray Stevens story. In an indirect way he kinda puts over Foley without mentioning his name. 7. The World Title wasn't the be all end all. 8. They shot this in an interesting way. 9. Sting has a gigantic storage room with his stuff all boxed up. From pics, posters, outfits etc. 10.Meet his sons 11. Sting/Steve Borden was like 2 different people. 12. Gets put over as a Dad, and the main reason he turned down WWE. 13. Scott Hall's I'm not telling you to rip off Taker, but rip off Taker. 14, Hogan/Sting Starcade fiasco. Lots of politics sums it up. 15, Sting admits he lived a double standard on the road and at home. 16. Thoughts on the final Nitro with Ric. Very emotional 17. Meet his new wife. 18. Cool insight at WWE HQ. 19. A cool lead in to his Survivor Series debut. 20. Overbooking of Mania is put over. 21. HHH/Sting put over each other 22. Sting meets Arnold. 23. We see Sting get married. Overall I enjoyed the Doc. You got to learn about Sting the man. You got the vibe that wrestling was a job. He's been a pretty private guy. He doesn't have many interviews, shoot interviews, books about him. So this stuff felt fresh.
