  1. I feel bad for Corbin because that is such an amateur move to make. There is a way to do that attack and not leave yourself open.
  2. GFW doesn't run Ohio.
  3. I agree completely. But the way things are now, if you don't praise every stupid gimmick an indy wrestler does, you're deemed "Out of touch." I can't believe Foley wasted a bump on him.
  4. If this was mid 98, Hogan could have seen the tide turning. WWF PPVs were paying out a lot in royalties and its always nice to be on a winning team.
  5. She was already a heel. She did that promo insulting Reid Flair.
  6. Paige is still young and has the potential to change. If she is on the road with WWE, that is probably good for her and Del Rio. She is talented in the ring and has charisma. She could be an asset to a stale division. Now if she carries her toxic relationship to work then get rid of her. But I don't think employers should stick their noses into independent contractors lives. .
  7. I think it was Jeff Hardy who once had a nipple piercing ripped out during a match. If not him then definitely some male wrestler. Ouchorama. Bossman ripped Droz nose ring out in 99. I'm sure it was an angle, but they got a lot of blood.
  8. Arn Anderson quote I heard years ago circa 1990 "I gotta get laid. I got enough cum to shampoo a buffalo."
  9. The Torch Talks really are great. Wade knew how to ask the right questions to get the most informed answers. I use to do an interview show and it was difficult even with a friendly guest.
  10. Back when the free Torch site was really good and it had a lot of old content. I saw Wade's post Survivor Series 97 coverage and he was PISSED that Bret punched Vince. If I did not know better I would swear he was on the WWF pay roll.
  11. I encountered that the other night. He reverts to being a condescending ass at any disagreement. But I try to remember the garbage he encounters online. I would probably already be on a IRL rampage if I dealt with half of that.
  12. I didn't and don't. Even if he was getting his downside staying at home, he left a lot of money on the table by leaving.
  13. I was watching 87 WWF earlier this year and was watching Brutus as he was given the Barber gimmick. It is an interesting evolution as you can tell he is uncomfortable with the gimmick. He is trying to work it as if he were an actual barber, smock and all. He would really try to style the jobbers hair. Using styling cream and using a mirror. Over the next few months he starts to loosen up. Once he gets away from Johnny V and feuds with Valentine and Honky he turns the corner. Now he is Woody Woodpecker trying to ruin Wally Walrus's barbeque. I can't say he was a good wrestler, but he was good at being Brutus Beefcake. If the accident never happens, I think his career is much different and he is remembered better by fans. If he was not close to Hogan, I doubt he would have gotten the time he did in the WWF. But with his look, he would have gotten hired in different territories. After hearing the details of his accident, I respect him as a man that he did not lose his mind.
  14. Well I feel I expressed clearly I don't think Dave made it up. I think he reported what he was told. He certainly had no maliciousness in reporting it.
  15. It's about narrative shorthand and genre conventions, not realism. This is indeed correct.
  16. Getting attacked by your wife is a no win scenario. There was a scene in Goodfellas where Henry Hill comes home late and his mother in law is screaming at him. Henry turns around and leaves without saying a word. Which is probably the best way to handle most arguments.
  17. Having a minor dust up with Meltzer on Twitter in regards to the Braun story. Now I don't think Dave just made it up. But he seems to not get how ridiculous it sounds on paper. His go to is people only see Braun as his character. Admittedly there is a visual component to this disbelief. But the idea any grown man would get on his knees and publicly beg for forgiveness sounds cartoonishly made up. I personally think the two guys who told him are making this up. Or greatly exaggerating elements. And then his sycophants ride in.
  18. I said a few weeks ago, what could be worse for Kurt than things he did publicly. I'm not even sure having an affair with Dixie Carter or Stephanie would be enough. I was joking it turns out he is having an affair with Hunter and Steph.
  19. I'm very doubtful the Jordan reveal was the original plan. Nothing about it seems like anything that would hurt Angle, that he would be desperate to hide.
  20. My family is going thru legal problems. The government agency we are dealing with are fully corrupt and have no real guidelines to follow. Anyway a relative has taken an attitude of "it doesn't matter they can do what they want." to justify bad behavior. My feeling is that it is even more important to stay on the straight and narrow when dealing with an enemy who cheats. That way they have no way to justify their actions. Gawker knew Thiel was gunning for them. They made a moral decision not to show the Fappening hacked pics. They should have maintained that consistency. At that point they admitted they were wrong. Personally I think Ferguson should be out 200 million more than I think Hogan's should be reduced.

    Bob Holly

Holly is certainly not an all time great. But he was a very good wrestler, solid and dependable. His run as the Big Shot in 1999 was great. This was just mic work but every week he delivered. He also could take quite the beating from the Acolytes, I think adding Crash to his act, watered him down. After that he was always a solid hand. Given the chance he could deliver. Him and Crash vs the Acolytes was a crazy violent match. Especially for a Sunday Night Heat match. I loved the finish of them just running away. That does sound like a cop out. But watch the match and you know its the only logical ending. He had a really good match with Kurt Angle on the first Velocity. The already mentioned Stevie matches. The RVD matches in WWECW. I'm sure there are more if I dig.

    The Usos

They really did catch on quickly. I try to remember not to judge young talent too harshly. They are having to learn on a very stage.

    The Usos

When the Usos debuted they were really bad. So bad it was hard to believe they were related to Samu, Fatu and Yoko. But then buried on the B and C shows they improved a great deal. I'm trying to remember when my opinion changed on them. It might have been this series they had on Superstars with Mark Henry. By the time they started getting programmed with the Shield they were very good. I think they improve every match. That they became such good heels is a great credit to their talent. I think they are the first team in their family to play face and heel effectively.
  24. I abandoned star ratings over a decade ago. I can see their value for other people, but for me it became muddled, probably because of ECW. I was watching November to Remember 97 and I really enjoyed the four team tag title match. I'm sitting there trying to rate it and I can't because it did a bunch of stuff that went against my own logical values of what I think wrestling should be. So if I go by that, its maybe two stars. Or something from a TNA Weekly PPV like New Church vs ECW guys. It was stupid and violent but I loved it. I can't lie to myself and try to say something I like is bad. If I am being emotionally honest, I think it is good. So from that point forward my ratings became pass/fail, if anyone needs more detail, I'm happy to discuss it.
  25. I remember watching this and thinking it had an ugliness and violence you rarely see in mainstream wrestling. The only thing I can compare it to is something like Sabu vs Terry Funk Born to be Wired or Funk vs Lawler Empty Arena Match. The violence makes you feel uncomfortable. This sort of violence is always within Mick Foley. Even as friendly Mankind, you can sense Cactus Jack ready to emerge. Flair you can't necessarily say that about. But as his career wound down you could see Flair becoming more twisted. Starting with the series between him and Triple H. The Foley feud was the culmination of this. I would have been fine with this being Flair's retirement match. Flair defeating a man he considered the antithesis of everything he stood for. Even though Flair had to compromise his own ethics to do it. If you look into it Flair meandered for the next year until the retirement angle started.
