The funny thing about Cornette's comment is the best possible interpretation of it was him making joke about famine in Ethiopia which is only about 35 odd years out of date. I'm sure a lot of people 30 and under don't even remember that and saw it as a straight up racist comment about fried chicken. In the WWF, Nash was expected to draw against big cartoon stiffs and never got to work with anyone worth a damn until the Bret feud, which ended up being some of his best work there. In WCW it was more personality driven which was directly in his wheelhouse. I mean, the nWo wasn't exactly rocket science. You get three great promo guys at the start and let them run wild, the checks write themselves.

WWE's ratings routinely take a hit during football season, as was pointed out above you can make a chicken-or-egg argument about whether it's due to the actual NFL games impact them directly, or if it goes down because WWE basically gives up until football's over.
