  1. $50? Quick Parv, hit me with a gif that expresses disgust
  2. Man, TSN getting a lot of talk around here today. Good chance I saw that Tito vs Virgil match back in the day, I was such a depraved wrestling junkie in the early 90s I would watch anything. (I used to "listen" to scrambled WCW shows on TBS for probably two years before my parents finally upgraded our cable package in early 94) That TSN WWF show (I believe called simply "TSN Wrestling") was dire, like D-show levels. Don't remember much about it other than they aired a 40 man battle royal once. (WWF did a series of those in 1992) TSN aired a motley crew of wrestling shows during its early years, including the WCW D-show Power Hour, dying days AWA, a several weeks behind Stampede show, Pro Wrestling Plus, and I believe CNWA. (post Stampede show featuring a young Chris Jericho and Lance Storm) I smell a future podcast
  3. So Don and Ron were only kayfabe brothers. Kinda surprised nobody corrected me on that. Just read Meltzer's bio on Don and it's pretty interesting. There was a whole family of Bass's in the 70s, including a female manager called Maw Bass, "No Class" Bobby Bass and a young Dutch Mantell as Dutch Bass
  4. It was on TSN until the very end of the territory
  5. It seemed like most families had it by 1986 when we first got it but I could be remembering wrong. It definitely wasn't part of the most exclusive cable package, like the movie channels and others
  6. http://placetobenation.com/at-the-garden-presents-bruno-sammartino-the-living-legend-1972-1977/ Part 3 of this MSG career retrospective sees Bruno reclaim his throne and undertake a second run on top even more successful than the first, during a time of decadence and disorder in New York. This show gives a rundown of... -Bruno traveling the territories and overseas -Showdown at Shea '72: Bruno vs Pedro -The epic feud with Spiros Arion -The return of Ivan Koloff -Showdown at Shea '76: Bruno goes for revenge against Stan Hansen -Battles with Superstar Graham, Waldo Von Erich, Stan Stasiak, Ken Patera, and others All this and more on At the Garden!
  7. The talk about the Tito and Virgil team was hilarious. TVC: Tito-Virgil Connection 4 Life!
  8. AWA was nation wide in Canada if you had TSN (Canuck ESPN)
  9. This would've been a huge red flag, eh Parv?

    NXT talk

Almas vs Alexander was pretty good too
  11. Ricky Jackson

    NXT talk

Aries vs Lorcan was a great little match
  12. Fittingly as useless as the political League of Nations was post WW I
  13. Better late than never, At the Garden returns Friday, September 23 with part 3 of my look at Bruno Sammartino, this time covering the years 1972-1977. This was an extremely successful period for wrestling at MSG during a dark time for New York City, as Bruno regained his throne and faced off against Spiros Arion, Ivan Koloff, Superstar Graham, Stan Hansen, Ken Patera and many, many others. Check it out!
  14. People listen to this and Austin's show of course, it's just that most can't be bothered to go back in the archives to find the threads to comment
  15. Don Bass was Ron's brother, and also a wrestler. It is somewhat confusing
  16. Right, we also talk about the Gino Marella vs Dave Ruhl match from the Hidden Gems collection. When you listen to Titans you always get more than is advertised!
  17. http://placetobenation.com/titans-of-wrestling-68-the-stampede-territory-part-4-1112-1215-1978-tv/ Kelly and Travis are back, and this time they begin a look at the Stampede footage that was briefly available on the WWE Network late last year. The first 2 episodes are examined, from 11/12 & 12/15 1978. Highlights include: -The greatness of John Foley -Bloody warfare between Big Daddy Ritter (aka Junkyard Dog) and "Irish" Paddy Ryan -Cuban heels aplenty -Keith and Wayne: The awkward Harts -And much, much more! And for everyone to enjoy, here are all 6 episodes of 70s Stampede that were removed from the Network! www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLV…u6tpAj-ypzT3GFUj3
  18. Opening segment on Smackdown with Cena, Styles and Ambrose was cool
  19. Yeah, I think it's a great idea
  20. And the first man to be IWGP, WWE and TNA champ!!! Great match
  21. Great moment
  22. Kane is the modern version of Baron Scicluna circa 1982 but far less endearing
  23. Aside from that one botch I thought that was a really good match
  24. No disrespect to Lord Littlebrook
