  1. It was great. I wish they could've covered the Larry feud but oh well
  2. Also, not sure how much truth there is to his claim that the original plan was for Hogan to defeat Backlund but Bob refused to drop it to that "stiff"
  3. Taking a quick glance, it contains a lot of info found in Sex, Lies and Headlocks from 2002, plus I'm guessing a lot from Meltzer over the years

    NXT talk

How about the recently debuted Nikki Cross as a potential threat to Asuka? I don't know anything about her personally, but it seems like she has a great rep and she looked badass on the last NXT
  5. How progressive
  6. We also watched Jimmy Snuka/Buddy Rogers vs Lou Albano/Ray Stevens from 11/25/82 Philly for this show, and this is a match to definitely check out. Not only because it displays how crazy OVER Snuka was at this poiint, but for super rare footage of the original Nature Boy in the ring nearly twenty years after his full time career ended in 1963 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S0nCT_1T97E&index=14&list=WL
  7. The Nak-Joe pull apart brawl on the last show was super heated, not sure what you've been watching
  8. Thanks man! That's awesome. Yeah, I would love to know more about the history of Stampede running shows in Montana. It's a totally forgotten part of its history
  9. Do what you will
  10. I know Stampede wrestling isn't a lot of people's cup of tea, let alone talk about obscure ass 50s-70s Stampede wrestling, but if you can, please drop us some feedback and let us know what you think about the five parts so far (Titans 63, 64, 66, 68 and 69). Again, check out the beautiful footage from the Network in the playlist. I would love to hear thoughts on DK vs Mr. Wrestling from 1/19/79, Big Daddy Ritter, Ed Whalen and his interactions with the heels, etc.
  11. http://placetobenation.com/titans-of-wrestling-69-the-stampede-territory-part-5-119-615-1979-tv/ Kelly and Travis continue their review of the removed WWE Network footage from the 70s, this time looking at the 1/19 & 6/15 1979 episodes. Discussion includes: -A heavy dose of Calgary sports-team nostalgia up front -The awesomeness of Big Daddy Ritter and (yet again) John Foley -Dynamite Kid vs Mr. Wrestling in a great, and rare for TV, full-length match -Bret Hart and Jim Neidhart share a ring for the first time -A young babyface Jake Roberts, two Puerto Rican legends, shorter than normal sized wrestlers, and much, much more! Be sure to check out the Stampede footage, in particular the Dynamite Kid vs Mr. Wrestling match from the 1/19/79 episode www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLV…u6tpAj-ypzT3GFUj3

    WWE TV Oct 10-16

Yeah, I've been creating these threads too and I also don't watch Raw. Someone step up!
  13. It's just Vince and nobody else that "votes"
  14. I think the argument was more that since the late 80s they haven't had a great commentary team, and really few great commentators
  15. http://placetobenation.com/tag-teams-back-again-episode-20-nice-guys-finish-last/ Kelly and Marty welcome not one, not two, but THREE new tag teams to the show as they hit up the summer of 88 in WWF! On tonight's episode: Demolition vs The British Bulldogs, 4/22 SNME The British Bulldogs vs the Bolsheviks, 7/23 Spectrum Demolition vs The Powers of Pain, 7/23 Spectrum The Rockers vs The Fabulous Rougeau Brothers, 7/25 MSG Demolition vs The British Bulldogs, 7/25 MSG Hart Foundation vs The Fabulous Rougeau Brothers, 8/6 Boston
  16. Goldberg will put over Lesnar after like three F 5's, and Brock will probably bleed for him and sell it like he won a war. Nothing wrong with that
  17. I can imagine a Bob Backlund vs Rock feud in 2000 and I'm imagining it would've been awesome
  18. Ah, I was wondering about that. I noticed that the full card had a rare Greg Gagne MSG appearance among some other novelties. Don't have to apologize to me, I love this stuff, as I explain during the show
  19. I heard there was a title change last night
  20. I've been trying to set up a Mystery Titans viewing of the four Mighty Joe Thunder matches with the gang for months but the timing has never worked out. Crazy James didn't see the comedy potential in Thunder and failed to include the matches on the 79-83 set. I promise we will view these horrors for either Mystery Titans or regular Titans one of these days! Enjoyed the review. You should dip into more early 80s WWF, we always need more people to support the cause!
  21. Sgt. Slaughter beats Jay Youngblood clean as a sheet in a good match. Who knew Frank Tunney started the "all clean finishes" trend years before Baba. Maybe a response to years and years of screwy finishes with the Sheik on top
  22. East-West Connection vs "Dynamite" Dominic DeNucci and Tony Parisi was a perfectly solid little tag bout with a hot crowd
  23. Piper vs Steamboat is clipped down to the final 5 minutes but it's good stuff and features a rare clean job by Hot Rod
  24. Watching some of this Maple Leaf stuff. Immediately gravitated to the Sgt.Slaughter and Greg Valentine tag team matches, which is like a dream team for me. Dear God, Slaughter was so insanely over as a heel at this point (1981), just nuclear heat. I watched two matches, one where they fought Pat Patterson and Jay Youngblood and another where they met Youngblood and Johnny Weaver. I'm reminded that Jay Youngblood was an awesome wrestler whose early death pretty much condemned him to being forgotten by many fans, which is a shame. Fun stuff here, especially the first match. I'm going to keep watching until I tap out. Coming up is Mr Fuji and Hussain Arab (Iron Sheik) as a team!
