Personally I agree. It seems all shows are at least 3 hrs in length now. I'm as guilty as anyone. I envision a movement towards shorter shows in the future

Least Favorite Wrestling Move/Strike in Pro Wrestling
Ricky Jackson replied to TheU_2001's topic in Pro Wrestling
Wasn't the only reason the Heart Punch ever got over that someone died (for unrelated reasons) after a match where he took one? The Heart Punch got over because it was sold like death and nobody kicked out after taking one. The Heart Punch is awesome -

It's just a technicality When talking about the releases, Meltzer mentions Alex Riley was being groomed until an "incident with John Cena". This would've been around 2011 when he was with the Miz I guess. Anyone know what happened? I don't recall reading about it at the time

John Wayne was awesome, as a performer anyway

Well yes, plus that jabroni Bayley

Good, because I don't think I would want to live in a world where Shane vs Taker was the most amazing money draw of all time

Was there money in the Warrior in 1998?
Ricky Jackson replied to Judy Bagwell's topic in Pro Wrestling
Yeah, with no build or anything, just an average run of mill match slapped together on Nitro. Pretty sure it was the first time Sting and Warrior had teamed since their Mid South days. It may have been the first teaming of Hart and Hogan as well. -
I reviewed the Rodz tag a while back. It was his last MSG match and the Bulldogs first. Piper never being pinned before Mania 8 is a myth he perpetuated over the years. Still, he was only pinned a couple times. Against Flair at MSG in, I think, Oct 91 is another

I think you could say that Punk and Bryan are the modern equivalent to the blue collar hero, "regular" looking guys who came up through the indies and appealed to fans as "one of us"

Oh come on man, Biggest, Smallest, Strangest and Strongest is greatest of all CHV tapes. Or at least I thought so when I was 14

I guess there were two reasons for Zack's win at Mania: (1) to open the show with a huge surprise and (2) so that the non-wrestlers could get their WM bonuses betting on Ryder. Yea I said this right after Mania and not at all in a joking way. He was like dead last in the odds until the day before when he suddenly became the favorite which to me says everyone who was in the know put money on him. Which is why betting on wrestling should be illegal IMO. You probably have a locker room full of Pete Roses. On the one hand in spirit it is comparable to insider trading, on the other hand no one forces anyone else being part of this rigged game. Honestly I don't feel sorry for anyone who is losing money betting on pro wrestling in 2016 while some insiders make some cash. I mean it's not like it is 1916 where nobody knew that they were marks if they would bet on pro wrestling. And, at least a few years ago when books first started taking action, the max bet is $50

Official drop is tomorrow, but PWO gets the advance screening http://placetobenation.com/at-the-garden-series-preview-wrestling-at-msg-1880-1938/ This is a special series preview for a new ongoing podcast from Kelly Nelson (Titans of Wrestling, Tag Teams Back Again) that will spotlight individual wrestlers and their history at the "Mecca of Professional Wrestling". This episode provides a brief history of three different buildings known as Madison Square Garden, covering such figures as "The Solid Man" William Muldoon, George Hackenschmidt, Frank Gotch, Ed "Strangler" Lewis, "The Golden Greek" Jim Londos, Danno O'Mahoney, and many others. *Also, I pledge to keep episodes in the 45 minute range, perfect for those finding it difficult to consume all this media in the 21st century!

Those are both great, but Bob Backlund's piledriver is the true "Holy Fuck he just killed that guy" piledriver

Horrible matches between great wrestlers
Ricky Jackson replied to Judy Bagwell's topic in Pro Wrestling
I thought Bob vs Harley was great the first time I saw it, but upon a second viewing, with a lot of great Bob matches recently in the rear view mirror due to Titans, it left me kinda cold. It's a weird match. The crowd totally laps it up and loves seeing Bob kick Harley's ass, like seeing the Yankees pummel the Dodgers in the World Series. There is a unique buzz in the air because a lot of fans were expecting Bob to walk out with both belts. But yeah, detached from that, there are tons better Bob title matches during his run on top -
Did WWE stop any chance of a competitor by accident with bad booking?
Ricky Jackson replied to Jesse Ewiak's topic in WWE
Exactly. The best alternative to WWE TV is a different kind of WWE TV -
He just had to get that HHH weight off from around his neck that was dragging him to the bottom of the ocean
