  1. Reigns still came across as a heel and seems much better suited for that. It's just a way better fit for him at this point. Everything he does comes off as dickish.
  2. This is the best Reigns has looked in a singles match.
  3. Rusev vs Cena wasn't great. Solid to good. Hopefully someone other than cena beats rusev but that doesn't seem likely.
  4. Heels are supposed to cheat so there's nothing wrong with that, however in the context of a company where heels don't really cheat how does that effect the audience reaction?
  5. Early Fujiwara, Funk & Hansen. I would love to see all the Memphis arena matches from Lawler at any point from the 70s, 80s or 90s.
  6. Actually Tully lasted the same as or a little longer than Anderson. We just have more Anderson on tape. Tully debuted a good 7 years or so before Anderson.

  8. Fujinami definitely takes a huge step down in the 90s, I was hoping to find some post-80s recommendations here to help bolster his case. Instead I looked back through my notes to see if any of his 90s work stood out to me. Here are 10 matches that I would rate at least good with a few being great. There isn't much singles work. I don't think Fujinami was actively bad in the 90s. At least not the first half. He just dropped from a great worker to a solid hand that could be counted on to hold things together but was only as good as his opponent. 1. Vader vs Tatsumi Fujinami NJPW G1 Climax 8.7.91 2. Masa Chono & Hiroshi Hase vs Tatsumi Fujinami & Shiro Koshinaka NJPW 2.4.92 3. Steiners vs Tatsumi Fujinami & Takayuki Iizuka WCW War Games 5.17.92 4. Genichiro Tenryu, Takashi Ishikawa, Ricky Fuyuki, Tatsumi Kitahara & Ashura Hara vs Riki Choshu, Tatsumi Fujinami, Osamu Kido, Hiroshi Hase & Takashi Iizuka 5 on 5 NJPW 2.16.93 5. Riki Choshu & Tatsumi Fujinami vs Genichiro Tenryu & Takashi Ishikawa NJPW 3.23.93 6. Genichiro Tenryu & Ashura Hara vs Tatsumi Fujinami & Masa Chono NJPW 7.14.93 7. Genichiro Tenryu, Takashi Ishikawa & Ashura Hara vs Shinya Hashimoto, Masa Chono & Tatsumi Fujinami NJPW 8.2.93 8. Tatsumi Fujinami & Jushin Liger vs Genichiro Tenryu & Koki Kitahara NJPW 8.3.93 9. Genichiro Tenryu & Ashura Hara vs Tatsumi Fujinami & Osamu Kido WAR 10.11.93 10. Genichiro Tenryu vs Tatsumi Fujinami NJPW 4.29.96
  9. Brian Pillman in the early 90s
  10. If we're counting NXT matches, then Regal vs Ohno from 2013 is up there. My personal pick would be Michaels/Mankind from Mindgames but I feel like there's got to be something better than that.
  11. There are a whole bunch of nothing matches between Dundee and John Tatum from the USWA TX TV show in 1990. They're nothing because they just furthering an angle and aren't given much time to be more than that. However they're all still really fun. John Tatum doesn't bring much besides shtick and a good punch, but Dundee does so much with the little stuff to make it a lot of fun. Without Dundee those matches would have been pretty worthless. He's the William Regal of brawling and I think if we had a lot more footage from the Mid South Coliseum he'd be an EASY top 30 pick.
  12. Meaning and struggle. I like when what happens in a match is played up as having consequences. If the referee is making a big deal out of not letting a guy throw a punch, then if someone gets punched in that match I want it to be built to or demonstrated as worthy of being illegal. I like it to seem like people are actually trying to win a match. I love how in the Fujinami/Choshu 4.3.83 match both guys are fighting over each hold like its life and death. Selling gives things meaning. What I really hate is when a wrestler will make a big deal out of having been worked over and once they go on offense, they're completely fine. I love good cut-off spots that build drama. Basically I want to care and I want to be given a reason to care. It can be done so many different ways. What I hate seeing is people going out and just doing stuff for the sake of it or being lazy and not giving the proper respect to their craft.
  13. The Shield vs the Wyatt Family WWE Elimination Chamber
  14. On the 6.25.1984 episode of Tuesday Night Titans they show footage of Vince accepting an award from MSG on behalf of his deceased father. They all but specifically state that Vince Jr. is the promoter of the WWF and mention that three generations of McMahons have promoted wrestling in the Garden and reference Vince's father and grandfather.
  15. Ok so some of this is based on tendency rather than actual ability because martel has done "dazzling feats" that flair and race could never do as gracefully.
  16. How is it that you see Race and Flair better at "High flying" than Martel and everyone besides Dory better at "Selling" than Rude?
  17. I would hold Flair's twilight years against him much more than Funk's. Flair sucked at times because he didn't try at all, whereas Funk sucks because his body is broken down.
  18. If peak is all that matters then we might as well only judge each wrestler by his single best match or performance and ignore everything else. A guy's whole career needs to be taken into account as much as possible in relation to everyone else he's being graded against. Let's say Wrestler A was decent at best for 10 years but had an amazing peak for 1 year. Wrestler B had a 1 year peak that was just a notch below Wrestler A's, but he sustained a non-peak performance that was very good to great for 8 years. Who would you rate higher? I think it would be silly to say that Wrestler A had a better claim to Greatest Wrestler Ever than Wrestler B. I think you also have to take into account outside factors like physical well-being. If a wrestler's physical deterioration in his 50s prevented him from being able to move around the ring, I wouldn't necessarily hold that against him. If he was in his 50s and could go but didn't try I would hold that against him in relation to other 50 year-olds who were still willing and able to go.
  19. Watched this again and it was way better than I originally thought. The one thing I don't like about it is that although Liger's selling is great, once he goes back on offense he just stops and he goes full speed all the time.
  20. If his 'later shit sucks' it doesn't make his earlier stuff worse, it just means that if someone else was as good as him for the same length of time and then extended that period of quality even longer then that wrestler would by definition be a more deserving candidate. If all we went by was a wrestler's best, each wrestler would only be judged by their single best match, which is silly. An A is great but 2 As are better.
  21. This was really good. Dory added a lot more than Spivey, and I'm not knocking Spivey but he was just along for the ride. In fact, Dory played his role as the hot tag as well as he could have for a 49 year old that was never that athletic or mobile to begin with, so props to him. This wasn't their swan song either, although close to it. They finished out the rest of the year with a few of the matches making tape and then had a few more matches up until at least April of 91.
  22. Match of the night for sure. Sasaki looked a little out of control at times but played his role well. I was really excited for Sasaki and Hase to win. I would definitely rate the 9/30/90 AJPW match higher.
  23. In between the second and third fall you can see Bret throwing a fit about the rope. I don't see how this was a great match let alone a good one, but then again I'm usually more down on Bret Hart matches than most. As the "ring general" here he needed to perform a lot better. What he wasn't involved in looked directionless and what he was involved in looked contrived. OK match that went way too long.
  24. I agree with a lot of what you said, but diva is not a demeaning term. People may interpret it that way, but it comes from the opera world and originally means goddess in Latin.
  25. Imagine after UWF folds, Henry transitioning to Japan just as he's entering his prime
