I am able to access the episode via the PWO sound cloud with no issues. I just tried it. I access directly via the PWO sound cloud page and not through any other links that may be associated the P2BN website. Access MIS directly via this link: https://soundcloud.com/prowrestlingonly/sets/military-industrial-suplex I see if I go here: http://placetobenation.com/the-military-industrial-suplex-2-secret-ageist-man/ and copy and past this link: https://soundcloud.com/prowrestlingonly/military-industrial-suplex-2 I am able to replicate the issue of not being able to access the podcast episode.

I would like WWE to switch it up and instead of having "the panel" during the pre-show, I'd like to see WWE bring in a artist/band to warm up the crowd instead. I would much appreciate St. Lucia, Vampire Weekend, Stars, etc. opening vs. hearing Lawler and his 'jokes'.

I Feel Like Quitting Sometimes
fakeplastictrees replied to dkookypunk43's topic in Publications and Podcasts
Doing a podcast for me is all about fun. The numbers are interesting to look at, but at the end of the day this is a creative outlet for me. At the end-of-the-day if the podcast is not fun-- why do it? Finding a gimmick is very important. It was mentioned earlier in the thread that the wrestling podcast landscape is populated and because of this its important to find and create your purple cow. My recommendation would be to take a step back and review key elements outside of fame, fortune, and followers and really break down into what you would like to do. -
Raw v Smackdown Survivor Series match
fakeplastictrees replied to BigBadMick's topic in Pro Wrestling
Not sure if Goc is joking or not, but this SD vs. Raw and crossover stuff should have waited until a year pasted. For the most part WWE has been pretty good, but the company couldn't even wait two weeks post draft before people assigned/in-charge-of a particular brand popped over into the other. BigBadMick's match sounds good. -
Is TNA the worst wrestling promotion in history?
fakeplastictrees replied to Loss's topic in Megathread archive
Perhaps I am giving everyone involved way too much credit, but this can't be all due to ego? How much is Dixie making personally from this company. Fuck the wrestlers, production guys, etc. How much is she putting in her pocket? Because with a bad reputation, a company barely in the red, etc. she must be pulling in bank. I can't think of any other reason unless its purely she wants to be on TV and say she owns something. If this isn't the majority ego and isn't mainly money--where is it all coming from? How much of the international TV deals is structured in a way to hit Carters pockets first and everyone else second? 40%? More? This is what I think is happening: Bill Corgan has a clause in his contract that pretty much states that he can purchase the majority share (and thus ownership) from Dixie if X,Y, and Z occur. One of these factors, I believe, is the company raising enough capital by a certain time to cover tapings etc. I think Dixie is waiting until the midnight hour for certain provisions to kick in (that will not be to her benefit) before 'magically' coming up with funds which thus extends the period (another 30 days, 60 days, etc.) until Corgan has another chance to buy the company. I can see Corgan and his partners (if he has any) seeing this as a conspiracy as Dixie instead of making sure the company is in good shape is deliberating in a power play to keep the company and hope Corgan gets tired of waiting or before Dixie runs out of favors--whichever comes first. If this is in fact happening then that means that Corgan's deal is pretty much bullshit as the 'You Can Buy the Majority of the Company IF..." stuff is all bullshit as its all a con put in place to ensure the second biggest money mark stays around. Keep him on the payroll and in good graces and hanging around the wrestlers and Billy will shell out. I am not sure why Corgan would put a restraining on her though unless he believes that she has an inside man feeding her news on his business dealings or perhaps Carter herself, due to her majority ownership, is allowed to sit in Corgan's meetings and thus begin to sabotage certain dealings that would move the company more into Corgan's ownership and direction (WWE purchasing the TNA library) and away from Dixie. -
The fans were of course going to be vocal, but that doesn't excuse the performance at all. They could have changed directions but didn't. Over the past few years we have seen tons of WWE matches where the fans are taking a nice steaming shit on the match itself, one or more of the wrestlers involved, the company, etc. I have seen matches where all I could hear was crickets, but the bell-to-bell was still passable and enjoyable. Blaming the crowd is something the company, the wrestlers involved, and those still on WWE payroll will tout out in 2016. Its nice revisionist history to say 'its the fans fault', but to ignore the other factors and the fact that millions of people outside of MSG wanted to see the match, but in turn were given what is on tape cannot be squarely blamed on the MSG fans. I think people are overly worried about what happens when Goldberg returns. I think he returns to a nice pop. Lesnar and him have limited, but interesting interactions heading into the SS match and then boom! As long as both men aren't trying to be cute and WWE doesn't push the most ridiculous narrative--it should be fine.

It was mentioned in the ADR thread and worth mentioning here-- why keep Paige around? Before all the controversy she wasn't really turning in amazing performances and has been on auto-pilot for a long time. She receives lukewarm responses at best and currently Naomi's entrance is more over than Paige. Its really hard to justify her spot on the roster at this point so I am not sure why WWE is keeping her around. With that, I must ask the good people of PWO: should Paige get the boot?
-
Paige and her family are being completely ridiculous on social media right now. If everything is on the up-and-up then just flat out say "Hey it was X" vs. all the mysterious and cryptic early morning Tweets. Its ridiculous. Eve Marie did the same thing with her husband 'set to release a statement', telling people to 'wait for the truth', and quoting Martin Luther King Jr. You mention the words 'pro wrestling' to people and the average everyday Joe thinks everyone in pro wrestling is on something. From what I have seen online over-the-years, people aren't really shocked by news like this--its the theatrics that gets the eye rolls. Public Twitter conversations between family members, press conferences being called, rumors of lawyer involvement, and mysterious doctor notes. Its a circus!

I didn't buy into the excuses at-the-time and I don't buy into them now. I am not sure why people feel the need to gloss over the WMXX match? Goldberg/Lesnar both came out and stood around for minutes, locked up twice, stood face-to-face and then knocked each other down with shoulder tackles. This match was about 14 minutes long and at least 5 of that was spent with this non-sense. This wasn't Hogan/Andre or Hogan/Warrior, this was a match, that at the time, many people didn't want to see. People wanted Austin/Goldberg and not Lesnar/Goldberg and those guys had a chance to go out there and give the violent brawl people were expecting, but nope. This is probably the first example on WM where two guys had a self-conscious epic only this time no one was buying it. Take the crowd noise and pipe in some good old fashion WCW Nitro piped in crowd noise and you will still be left with a shitty match. People always rag on lucha matches falling apart due to the wrestlers involved not knowing how to adapt to changing circumstances and yet some how this match is always excused from that criticism. If the fans aren't buying it--change it. Standing in the ring winking and smiling at each other before going nose-to-nose was not doing anyone in that ring any favors.
-
We are now officially on the road for surely what is going to be one of the most infamous WWE matches of 2016! People thought Shane/Taker was going to have Dave Copperfield levels of smoke and mirrors-- I expect Goldberg/Lesnar to have more smoke than a hooka bar on fire. I haven't been a fan of HIAC in a long time. I really hope Sasha isn't the one who does the big cage dive this go around. Its one thing to cosplay Eddie Guerrero at times, but cosplaying Mick Foley is all sorts of bad.

Is TNA the worst wrestling promotion in history?
fakeplastictrees replied to Loss's topic in Megathread archive
I would love for WWE to release the TNA footage in seasons. Season One: Michael J. Nelson, Kevin Murphy, and Bill Corbett riff the first year of TNA. Season Two: The second year of TNA should have an MXC vibe with sound effects and all. Hell even go so far as looping in the footage with Takeshi's Castle or something equally as ridiculous. Season Three: Pop Up video style with whacky facts and random comedians offering various musings throughout. Season Four: This would be the Spike TV debut and should be unedited, etc. Every season should start off with a nicely crafted WWE style opening video set to David Pomeranz "Nothing's Gonna Stop Me Now". Exciting times indeed. -
Jim Ross claiming Goldberg v Lesnar happening at Survivor Series

50/50 booking 16 years in the making? I know WWE is petty, but the company can't be THAT petty? Right? RIGHT? -
Jim Ross claiming Goldberg v Lesnar happening at Survivor Series
fakeplastictrees replied to Strummer's topic in WWE
I am intrigued by the match layout. Goldberg will be 50 come Dec and I HIGHLY doubt he will be taking any of Brock's German suplexes. Hell, I don't even see Goldberg taking a belly-to-belly. I expect a lot of strikes, brawling, work in the turnbuckle area, etc. Pretty much the Mania match without the whole pseudo big match antics. If these guys work snug, it could easily be the most believable looking match on the show. Should be fun to see. -
Sheamus and Ceasaro walking around in suits, wearing sunglasses, and beating up jobbers would make for a cool visual. Its just sad that the Sheamus experiment is still on-going.

I really think this comes down to two things: 1. USADA/WADA testing is needed 2. Pro wrestling (main WWE in this case) should have seasons USADA/WADA will make sure everything is on the up-and-up. Cena, Orton, Taker, they all might be fucking done under this regime. WWE wants to be like other major sports with the big event of the year, analyst table in the area, etc. but for some reason they are unwilling to have a season. Royal Rumble to SummerSlam. January-August of every year. Toss in 2-3 'one night only' type of shows (i.e. Halloween Havoc, Survivor Series, Tribute To The Troops) and I believe people both inside and outside the business will be satisfied.

But the extra hour should mean more meaningful content and not just more warm bodies. With the 'extra Raw's', shouldn't that make WWE even more comfortable to step away from certain tropes? WWE has made sure the wrestlers are pretty video-gamey to such an exaggerated extent that I do not believe it would kill the viewers if they didn't see Rusev, Lana, Maryse, etc. for one week. Sometimes giving someone a week or two off, in this age of overexposure, can make someone feel some-what special. I realize the level isn't at the "Taker at Mania" level of special, but still. As for the 'whacky' stuff, perhaps I should have used a different word. I meant the Russorific stuff that just makes everyone involved look bad i.e. Sasha wanting a 2-on-1 match, Stephanie upset with Roman but putting him in the WHC match despite not wanting him to be champion, etc. That is the stuff that is Raw is doing and it ruins the flow.

I don't mind the fact that WWE kept TJP off of Raw. You want to see THE CHAMP? Tune in on Sunday. WWE needs more of that and less of the 'champion sitting at the commentary table during a match' trope. TJP already cut his "I'm glad to be here" promos in the CWC. The first induction of the champion should not be a weak sauce promo or embarrassing commentary. It should be him doing what he does best. Another thing that I liked about TJP not being there is that it helped keep everyone's attention in the ring and not thinking on what possible antics will go down pre/post match. SDL is just so solid. SDL is what WWE is when you combine NXT and the main roster WWE product in a sincere way and not in a "Let's under-mind this at every-step-of-the-way while pretending we are promoting it!" kind of way. More of this and less of whatever the hell we are seeing on Raw. Raw is filled with tons of stuff that makes sense, but I feel like someone in the back wants to make sure we are paying attention and tosses in some whacky stuff for 'entertainment' value (i.e. Sasha wanting a handicap match, etc.).

Swagger left Raw....no on cared. Swagger debuted on Smackdown...no one cared. Swagger has been jobbed out and made to be less-than-important on a ton of occasions, I am not sure why WWE booked his entrance into Smackdown as if it was some game changer on even the smallest level. Smackdown's roster is 'fine' all the way up until the mainevent. In that area its a little thin and someone like Swagger would be a nice addition, but its too early to tell. This all might just be business as usual as Swagger jobs out to Corbin, The Miz, and eventually gets in a 'Best of 7' series with Ziggler to prove who is the better college wrestler or some shit. There are some people who honestly just need to ask for a release and go to Japan, TNA, ROH, and the indies for 2-3 years and Jack Swagger is one of them. I have seen glimpses of how great he can be and I honestly feel that in any other environment, he would be seen as a big deal and have legit MOTYC. All this is coming from a guy who is NOT a huge Swagger fan, just a guy who knows what opportunities are lost.

Question, I am trying to start a new thread in the Podcast folder (new podcast announcement) and this has failed for the last 24 hours. I can post to the board just fine, but it appears executing this one new thread is causing all kinds of problems. Is this an actual board issue? I have restarted my session, browser, cleared cookies, used a different browser. I will try a new computer tomorrow just in case there is something funky going on with my IP, hidden cached session, etc.

I've always like The Colons, but this new booking is weird. WWE usually puts the screws to people when those people are about to walk out the door (or have a chance of walking out), so why not have The Colons finish off The Dudleys. I know it was all 'last minute' according to the sheets, etc. but that would have transferred hit to heatless act instead of produce very little heat for an act that is cooling down. Enzo and Cass are money so of course WWE makes sure they lose to The Colons without building The Colons first. If Nia and Braun can get jobbers every week- why not The Colons? Seriously, the tag division is kinda thin on Raw. There are good teams there, but its thin as hell and before the 50/50 booking goes into overdrive and before Raw's first PPV- no one thought, "Hey guys! Let's play up these guys past and have them go out there every week and do what they do best-wrestle! Maybe that will get over so when we have them beat the most over team in the company, there will be some heat and interest in the match!?". But maybe I am off base. Jericho and Owens were both great and yes, as much as it pains me to say it: New Day has JTTS. Dialing it back a little wouldn't be asking too much as all 4 WWE Raw teams (the ones I can think of) are all doing some type of comedy in their acts at the moment.

This has been a big issue with WWE this year and for some time actually. The brand split is one of the most recent glaring example. Shane spends WEEKS cutting promos about how Smackdown is going to be fresh, innovative, and full of young talent. The whole 'New Era' talking point used to the lead up of The Draft was mainly because of Shane. Shane was also talking about how smart he is, etc. Come draft time he, knowing he is at a disadvantage when it comes to the number of picks, decides that Kane is a good pick. Daniel Bryan, in kayfabe knows all the good wrestlers in WWE and was made co-GM for his expertise in this area, this of course means that Sami, Cesarao, and Owens are not drafted to Smackdown and despite ALL OF NXT apparently being open, decided not to bring up Nakamura, Joe, Aries, Asuka, etc. The writers and the directors (Vince, etc.) obviously didn't have a conversation and get synced up because one simple announcement would have closed the NXT logic loop created and would have made both Shane and Stephanie look less like idiots.

I can see why someone might think 'Finger Poke of Doom' (FPoD), but its really two different things. Even if we ignore the marco of both situations and only focus on the micro, this match was no where near FPoD for several reasons: 1. It was an actual match 2. It was a match with some good heat 3. The match didn't have a 'been there/done that' feel to it (this match has never happened in WWE prior) 4. None of the characters involved are as stale as 99 Hogan and Nash 5. The crowd loved the outcome and the outcome setups so many things 6. Its a new face as a champion and not one of the usual suspects 7. There was no meta booking to 'stick it to the internet' Should be fun going forward. Let's see if WWE gets cold feet and takes the title off of Owens in 2 months' time.

I am sorry to hear this. I just now read this. I wish you the best and strength and positive interactions, experience, and news going forward. Hopefully this board brings some bright spots for you. All the best. Hit that disease with a Steel chair shot--JBL shoot style~!

I knew the Dudley's retirement was going to disappointment me because I don't want them to stay which means they will. Most of these 'he is announcing his retirement' stuff usually leads to an angle unless people know that someone is legit fucked up (i.e. Edge, Daniel Bryan, etc.). Based of what happened on Raw I expect to see The Dudley's decide there is still 'gas left in the tank' and continue to bore me for months to come. Titus is usually a good speaker, but he was off tonight. WAY OFF! And speaking of promos, Charlotte's was pretty solid overall but really spotty at other points. She might want to use different words for 'back' as it relates to a return especially if its going to be closely followed by Charlotte talking about an opponent's actual back.
