  1. When watching wrestling do you prefer to watch wrestling with defined segments, such as falls or rounds, or would you prefer a more consistent flow? Matt D's post in his NOAH Microscope made me think about it. People say that young people want all that action because they can't pay attention but I almost feel the complete opposite. I need consistent stimulation when the wrestling is happening but not OVERstimulation. Falls or rounds can break up that action which gives me time to digest and regain focus. You get that moment to pull together threads of the story. While it isn't exciting when a 2/3 falls match starts with two quick falls I do end up enjoying that more than traditional feeling out section which just breaks into the "body" of the bout. Maybe I'm an odd duck. Might not be enough for a thread but I'm just gonna start it up and see where it goes. Heck, there might be a thread already that I have missed.
  2. Matches over 15 minutes tend to be trying too hard.
  3. Thanks for the kind words guys! Didn't post a reply before because I'm not dumb enough to think anyone is going to click this thread if I'm the last to have posted. Also, not sure why those marks don't create a thread but there are plenty of WwW shows on the podcast feed that I would think would appeal to some people here, and according to Twitter have appealed to some, so check those out. They really aren't like WDKW. Take that as you will. If last week's episode was focused on some more thoughtful discussion based on two of the most unique indies in the country, this week is more about the banter that WDKW usually provides. Will that be your cup of team? I don't know. It has Papa Hales though who is a certified G and a bonafide stud. http://wrestlingwithwords.com/podcast/we-dont-know-wrestling-papa-came-to-shoot/ Acclaimed professional wrestling fanatic Papa Hales joins me as well as Fray to discuss the Lord’s greatest gift to man. We give you the semi-full rundown of AIW’s Double Dare tournament that Papa Hales will be attending which features talent such as Matt Riddle, Team IOU, DJ Z, and many more quality grapplers. There is some gushing over PWX’s X16 tournament. Waxing poetically about bananas does happen. Shots are fired at the vertically challenged at an alarming rate, especially given the host does not possess great height. Banter is had.
  4. Loss, I WAS PROMISED 100 MATCHES A DAY! WHAT IS THIS 50 GIMMICK?! Just kidding, excited to watch the list progress and know I will have seen very little of this. I'm young so '00s are a more interesting decade for me to dive into on a personal level since I have a tiny bit of perspective but I'm positive I'm going to be using this as some Saturday afternoon guide for wrestling viewing.
  5. I for one think this should be ban worthy. Should be noted that Sami is probably the most giving ex-NXT indie wrestler out there. He also has put on bangers against Thatcher, Donny Dijak (true MOTYC), Zack Sabre Jr., and Matt Hardy. Heck, he got a good match out of Cody Rhodes. While I think he definitely is working a style where he ends up being the more dominant presence than say the Finlay matches, I think he has learned to fill that roll better than pre-NXT. Before it I would say Sami was easily more interesting working from beneath. Not sure about that anymore. He works a sprint probably better than anyone on earth and, though some will disagree, he has learned to lay out his longer matches out better. Rah, I thought we were close. For shame.
  6. Imagine Parv as a message board character seemingly the champion of classic wrestling throwing stars at matches that feel emblematic of what most feel are modern contests. No one can just pull that off. That is until DylanWaco starts enjoying Dragon Gate possibly... EDIT: Not saying Parv attempts to ACT but I know for sure that people who "lurk", which I guess includes me more often than not, start building narratives around posters to try and develop an overall feel of someone.
  7. Quentin is great and Psychology is Dead seemed like a PWO show waiting to happen. I'm sure the Art of Fatties will be a homerun.
  8. I chose fun, I mean offense. I already feel uneasy about that vote but sticking to it. At the end of the day the matches that I can rip through on YouTube are the ones with enjoyable offense. Oddly, the best selling is sometimes when I don't notice it. While it is clearly the most important element it isn't the draw in many ways for my eyes.
  9. TWO Plugs this week. What a blessed time: FIRST, the podcast http://wrestlingwithwords.com/podcast/we-dont-know-wrestling-listen-until-the-very-end/ Mark Maxwell and Brad Stutts join me on a special WDKW. We essentially talk about how two seemingly wildly different promotions in CWF Mid-Atlantic and Freelance Wrestling manage to stand out in the crowded indie wrestling scene. There is talk about the role of commentators, their influences, the distribution methods of these promotions, and we go over Dylan Hales’ fantasy booking of CWF Mid-Atlantic and Freelance Wrestling. And like I said in the title, listen until the very end. We had a few audio hiccups so hopefully it didn’t go to complete garbage because of my editing skills! Have any feedback? Tweet using #WDKW and I will likely RT you as I am shameless. SECOND, the WDKW100 forums. They are up and running. I would describe it as a more inclusive version of the WKO100 even if there are some barriers in place. The link below will lead you to the forum. The Announcements, Information post is probably the best to check first. http://wrestlingwithwords.com/wdkw100/index.php
  10. I would like to echo the sentiment in this thread that editing your podcast is for marks.
  11. The game truly has been changed.
  12. Chad has told me before that the actual wrestling talk on your show can be quite good. And since we're looking for new original pods for the pilot versus existing shows that would just jump feeds, DM us if you have any ideas for a project away from WDKW. Not so subtle jab at the tremendous content that WDKW delivers.
  13. http://wrestlingwithwords.com/series/we-dont-know-wrestling/ We Don't Know Wrestling NICHE: "Best Podcast When it Comes to Targeting the Shitposting on Wrestling Twitter Demographic" SCHEDULE: Weekly
  14. I would say Davey Richards but I actually still sort of have a soft spot for him. Christopher Daniels is probably a good pick for this. Helpful when you're working with Styles and Joe as I'm forming an opinion on someone. Okada would be another one. Unlike Davey, I no longer hold any sort of residual enjoyment of. What he is is not what I like in my wrestling. He used to be a strong example why I enjoyed the NJPW style...that has faded though and the battle for the finishers don't hold the same joy as before.
  15. If you would like to be on the show or would like to hear someone on the show (I know this isn't exactly a show aimed at the PWO audience in general) feel free to send me a message here or on Twitter.
  16. I'm having a ton of fun with this show...hopefully that shows? http://wrestlingwithwords.com/podcast/we-dont-know-wrestling-what-a-rush/ Lio Rush has found himself in some hot water. Another wild moment in 2016 which might get forgotten about in a few months. Feels like a potential theme of 2016. Devon Hales and Case Lowe join We Don’t Know Wrestling this week to talk about some of the underappreciated matches, promotions, ect. of 2016. Things we may have forgotten or things others might not have talk about. I mention Dojo Wars, Case buries Dragon Gate, and Devon’s life consists of shoot promos and Titan Sports, FKA World Wrestling Entertainment, tapes on the YouTube. WHAT A RUSH! Have any feedback? Tweet using #WDKW and I will likely RT you as I am shameless.
  17. TIME TO BRING THIS BACK CAUSE THE SHOW IS GOING WELL! Seriously, the past month or two have been maybe the most interesting the show has been. If you have listened and stopped now is a good time to hop back on. Or if you never have listened THIS I think is a great episode to try. http://wrestlingwithwords.com/podcast/we-dont-know-wrestling-sorry-pwg/ Pro wrestling is an art form that when viewed live takes on a totally different experience. This week Dylan Hales and Tim Buechner hop on WDKW to discuss how the live show differs, which wrestlers have raised their stock when watched in-person, and favorite promotions to have seen from the crowd. PWG doesn’t get properly buried…or does it? I don’t want to get your hopes up but I also don’t want you to not listen if you wanted to hear a PWG burial. There’s a little talk of Freelance Wrestling and a whole bunch more. Have any feedback? Tweet using #WDKW and I will likely RT you as I am shameless. PS My voice is a little low. Recording software decided to be weird. Apologies!
  18. This may very well be my MOTY but I don't think I could describe it as a brawl.
  19. Dick Togo is a potential gamechanger for WrestleMania weekend.
  20. We've jumped the shark!
  21. Does Jerry Lawler count?

Why We Wrestle has just released a show which at least points to a southern promotion trying to push out content for fans.

  25. Shocked and amazed with how excited I am to see these shows in December. That isn't a rib.The biggest worry, as with all PWG shows, is that a lot of these matches will just get too much time. Trevor Lee vs. Kamaitachi is the perfect example as if it comes in at under 15 minutes, prefeably under 10, it is a PWG MOTYC. If they try to go BIG, which they probably will, the worst tendencies will come out. Liger vs. Hero is good at least. Though admittedly I am worried what sort of Liger we will get in the States. Hopeful for a highly energized one. If so this could be one of those 2016 matches that I never saw coming until it hit me. Castle vs. Gallagher is un-PWG in that this is Gallagher's first match there and I don't think he has ever faced Castle. The dynamic between the two is easily there as they are showman grapplers. Castle is more Kurt Angle-esque in that approach and Gallagher more...I don't want to say Johnny Saint but that's what is coming into my head.
