https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_P1WfSXxoZ8 So 2CW decided to post Chris Hero vs. Biff Busick from the PWHF show up online for free. Pretty kind of them. I was losing it for it live. Seems like the sort of thing some people here would dig.

Okay, so No Mercy didn't last long and neither did my regular posting on the blog. Hopefully that changes a little this week with stuff all set to go up next. Here's a review of Cactus vs. Van Hammer as I try and finally finish January in this Yearbook. I am terrible: https://t.co/2zQ9Qjuxzx

We didn't go 6 hours but we did go four so we've got that going for us. We go across the spectrum from the obvious TNA discussion to indies to the Lucha World Cup. The best non ROH indy matches of the 2000s
concrete1992 replied to jpchicago23's topic in Pro Wrestling
The timing isn't because of Thatcher surprisingly, BillThompson can carry that. So here are some hot ones: -Sami Callihan vs. Finlay II EVOLVE 2012: I know I am in the minority here but I thought the second Callihan vs. Finlay match in EVOLVE was better than the first. Truly felt it was a bit of an indie classic. -Eddie Kingston vs. Mike Quackenbush from High Noon is the quintessential big indie title match for me. The Kingston lead in promo is one of my favorites of all time. Plus the whole 12 Large tournament has some little gems and it is just a well booked tournament. -El Generico vs. Sean Waltman from Chikara 2011. Has a special spot in my heart since I was there for it. Was shocked to see the match even happen let alone be as HOT as it was. -Hero vs. Hidaka from EVOLVE 2. Long epic grapply match. -Super Smash Bros vs. Young Bucks from PWG Death to All But Metal. Favorite tag between. -
The best non ROH indy matches of the 2000s
concrete1992 replied to jpchicago23's topic in Pro Wrestling
A lot of my favorite non-ROH indie matches, non-PWG for that matter as well, come after the turn of the decade so assuming those are out of the running: -A second for Danielson/Claudio vs. QuackSaw from Chikarra. Maybe the best Chikarra match I have ever seen. -Ibushi vs. Generico vs. Jigsaw vs. Nick Jackson from Chikarra. As far as indie spotfests go I still think this holds up as a completely zany one. Oh well, guess I didn't have much to add off the top of my head -
1 HOOT= 3 hours.

Gonna be blunt with you, yesterday was a tough day to be in the podcast game. Dylan, Bix, Kris, Will, Pete, Alan, ect. all coming out with quality podcasts, LIKE SUPER HIGH QUALITY, when I am trying to release this silly WasimCast? Damn it. Regardless, here it is: http://www.spreaker.com/user/fourcornersradio/wasimcast-tannerbrandinjapan WWE Payback is in the books and Sam and Tanner are here to bring you thoughts. We also go into the first four Global Force Wrestling cards featuring plenty of Chris Masters and onenote women matches. Continuing with our wrestling tournament discussions we talk about the Lucha World Cup and DDT4. Give it a listen! Intro was "Epic Song" from BoxCat Games with some sound clips overlayed.http://freemusicarchive.org/music/BoxCat_Games/ Make sure to check out: @4CRADIO (4crwrestling.com) @Tanner1495 (http://tannerwrassletalk.blogspot.com/) @SammyJ_D (http://spandexarestillcool.wordpress.com/)

Is TNA the worst wrestling promotion in history?
concrete1992 replied to Loss's topic in Megathread archive
I truly can't fathom this ending up being the case re: People watching TNA over anything pre Attitude Era. I get a recency bias but that seems a strong. Though I don't know how many people are watching NXT either. But I'd guess that it'd be maybe a quarter of NXT audience on the high end that would watch it. And that would essentially be for Joe since that is the one TNA talent they have and seemingly will have unless I am missing where TNA talent goes to NXT. Can't think of who they would want from there. Would they care about Austin Aries? I can understand the H-Man play I suppos. Does TNA have the 2nd most valuable tape library in USA outside of WWE? Honest question. I think it is self-evident that ROH's blows it out of the water. -
Are you trying to tell me that Chris Masters vs. Shelton Benjamin won't be selling out baseball parks throughout the country?!

It's irritating to watch a sloppy wrestler constantly mess up killing all sense of disbelief in a match too. They're both true? Maybe I'm the one reading it wrong but saying "not messing up often" shouldn't be worthy of grand praise doesn't mean promoting sloppiness.
-
Is this where I reassert my theory from 2008-2009 or so that the best approach to a new wrestling TV product (or internet product, or streaming media product as the case may now be) would be to present it as a sort of UFC 1/Street Fighter/WMAC Masters over-the-top fighting competition that explicitly does not refer to itself as wrestling and distances itself from wrestling canon, but uses professional wrestlers for it's roster, utilizes a lot of wrestling gimmickry and storytelling, and is essentially worked BattlArts-style? Because I still kind of believe that, even though it's obviously every bit as ludicrous as any other idea you might come up with. I think you just described something close to Nigel's failed Kickstarter.

Not gonna break it down like people above quite did but a few of the cats I would STRONGLY CONSIDER/FRONT RUNNERS OUT OF THE GROUP: Chris Hero Samoa Joe AJ Styles Cesaro Sheamus Bryan Danielson Sami Zayn WANT TO VOTE FOR BY NEED TO FIND MORE EVIDENCE (watch more) TO FEEL ALRIGHT ABOUT IT: Amazing Red Tomohiro Ishii Mascarita Dorada Necro Butcher Sami Callihan(Probably the least likely of the bunch to be honest though probably the one I wish I could vote for most)

1. Lets shut it down bill 2. We accept any and all CONSTRUCTIVE feedback.

Myself and Tanner, @Tanner1495 on Twitter, have started up a new podcast. It is nothing breaking the mold currently, where we run down news and thoughts from the past week as well as the things up ahead. I will update this thread every week with our latest podcast. This week we talked about AIW's upcoming JLIT, Global Force Wrestling's roster reveal, indie distribution, and MORE! http://www.spreaker.com/show/wasimcast

Everything about Global Force Wrestling says I shouldn't care. Lazy looking graphics born from a bygone era. A press conference for a roster reveal attended by 3 people and no mention of it on social media despite one of the key things being mentioned fromt he beginning is being social media aware and being a product for today. Any expectation that they will properly use the web to their advantage is rather shot. But they workin' baseball parks so yay? But that roster gets me excited. Any time Chris Masters gets a decent stage, I am interested. It really is too bad that TNA, and Lucha Underground to a certain extent, have started grabbing some talent that might be worthwhile. Drew Galloway seems like a perfect GFW fit as your WWE Superstars crew but instead he shall rot away in TNA. Not to say he wouldn't rot away in GFW but I don't know anything about them so I am deciding to go with the enemy I don't know despite the phrase. From what I've read on the Twitter, don't remember who, they don't have a TV deal locked down. Someone else can confirm or deny that. Yet they are doing TV tapings, so who knows how that'll end up. Also, Moose occupying the role of "Indie Darling" is a fantastic move. Granted, they signed him most likely before he's improved as much as he has.
-
I was more referring to your idea that you pointed to with money for the first bit. I mean an indie only needs like a semi-consistent 350+ fans to be considered a quality drawing in this day and age. But EVOLVE rarely seems to be passing 200 fans let alone another 100. Can you explain what you mean by the "EVOLVE project"? Cause mixing the grappling with the other fellas isn't a truly novel concept so I must be missing something.
-
Artistically this grappling style is being praised, especially with EVOLVE, but this movement so to speak isn't happening in a good drawing indie. While Evolve gets a lot of press, I have no reason to believe that they are taking in more money than promotions like AIW, AAW, or 2CW. CZW had it going but they've all but abandoned it now and they were the only promotion that could point to big crowds and grapply grapplers. As far as stylistic matches are concerned, we are already getting styles clashes but Thatcher comes off the most capable of getting mileage out of those matches solely because he is the one who has not been around the East Coast centric area for too long.

The Trade Marks Ep. #2 - May Be Flammable
concrete1992 replied to Bix's topic in Publications and Podcasts
One thing of note on the FWE shows being cancelled; people were skeptical that those Upstate shows would happen long before the show. Some people associated with the show were considered a bit shady. One was involved in a debacle during the State Fair. So these shows weren't likely to ever get off the ground. Seems like FWE has been trying to push the local promotion to other areas. I know you mentioned NEW but 2CW is probably a better source of reference since NEW to my knowledge doesn't run much Upstate. Binghamton,NY is considered pushing the idea of "Upstate" so NEW is probably pushing CNY at best. FWE was running 20 minutes outside of Utica if I recall and one show in Rochester. Which is weird since that ends up being cross-state. Bridgewater(?) was not running a great area to begin with. If there was a territory system then they'd be running pretty much in 2CW territory with NEW being Poughkeepsie and ESW being the Buffalo-Niagara area. -
My AJPW team opinion swung MASSIVELY once someone told me Tiger Mask III was actually Koji. I don't know why I thought otherwise but yeah, I actually really enjoy both teams as far as being entertaining. Ishimori seems like someone who could mix it up REAL nice with the luchadores.
-
NOAH: Takayama Ishimori Kotoge AJPW: KENSO Tiger Mask III Masamune So yeah...okay then.
-
Gangrel! Contributing to my wealth of talent coming off the board.

Been waiting hours for the show to start and nothing. I would like my money back.
