  1. Id wager tickets from the stadium were cheaper in 1987 than 2000. Plus 2000 was in the middle of the first heyday of second market broker resellers. I dont think Stub Hub was a thing yet, but certaintly the likes of TicketMaster caused the orginal costs of tickets to unique events like a wrestling PPV to skyrocket between 1987 and 2000.
  2. For someone who preaches positivity and fun you sure seem to have a real bug up your ass about what other people might enjoy. Okay, the WM III total by the WWE was probably in whatever Detroit Lion media guide that listed Silverdome attendance record, but even their Lion sellout totals could be taken with all kinds of grains of salt. I said this a bit earlier in the thread, but I don't believe NFL attendance figures and stadium capacities are (or were) ever "worked". Those are as legit as legit can be. The blackout rules were serious business for a myriad of reasons. Ill give you NFL due to television market blackouts, but MLB teams can be notorious for inflating numbers that dont pass the eyeball test. Going back to the NFL, they literally had to group fans together in the front rows at that first Super Bowl in the LA Coliseum in order to give off the affect of a packed house to TV cameras, and NFL Films footage.
  3. For someone who preaches positivity and fun you sure seem to have a real bug up your ass about what other people might enjoy. Here is the thing though. It would be one thing if this was revisionist historians trying to get to the bottom of conflicting reports and accounts of events, or new evidence coming to light in order to prove or disprove an urban legend. But this is more about crusades by anti-WWE PR spin machine types to flat out prove the WWE kayfabed (keyword there as opposed to a non scripted sport fudging numbers) their WM III attendance numbers. For no other purpose than to put up a big "GOTCHA! HA! HA! (that was meant to be in the voice of Nelson from The Simpsons). I mean we are talking about people who are rooting for the numbers to be as low as possible for no other reason than to confirm their biases that the WWE are lying liars. Despite the fact that, for example, no one really cares that there was no tournament in Rio de Janerio to crown Pat Patterson the first Intercontinental Champion. Its accepted into the kayfabe cannon, despite the IC belt being a reconstituted North American title that Patterson went over Ted DiBiase for earlier in the year. Do they fudge numbers? Of course they do, and did back in the day, but so do non scripted sporting events as well. Its not the end of the world if you find out WM III's totals fall far from the kayfabed total. Just means their "official" total was inflated because they are a scripted form of entertainment. Okay, the WM III total by the WWE was probably in whatever Detroit Lion media guide that listed Silverdome attendance record, but even their Lion sellout totals could be taken with all kinds of grains of salt.
  4. YOU DONT KNOW HIM! King joked about it on his podcast last year.
  5. To be fair, promotions themselves, especially pre 2001, tend to consider their past the dark ages!
  6. Granted not on any sort of Dream Match level, but wasnt his only appearance in the Wyatt build his voice on the go home show?
  7. Explains why he was so gun ho about the turn.
  8. Id just want Heat as a way to start putting up all the pre WMXXX PPV pre-show (and Coliseum Exclusives) material. Like Free For Alls, YouTube/.com stuff, etc.
  9. Bryan was fired twice? Unless one was a kayfabe one during the Alliance/Orton feud that Im blocking from my mind, the only one I know of was the legit one for choking Justin Roberts, with his own tie. Or was not being a winner of that first season of NXT considered being fired?
  10. 20 years ago, and it was mainly to pull off an OJ gag! Kind of a reason theyve never been off site at WM since.
  11. I am grateful it isn't. I can't imagine that sort of match being featured on the biggest show of the year. After Orton-Wyatt House of Horrors, and the Final Deletion ripoff at the Wyatt compound vs New Day, keeping an off site gimmick match off of the WM card is a good thing
  12. FYI, here is EXACTLY why I think things with actual ceremonies or physical locations are more legit than someone's hard drive. A thread I had years ago, pre Twitter/Facebook, when I was drumming up support for a Hall of Fame for my favorite sports franchise to be voted for by various corners of the internet community of fans of that team. And yes I would have reached out to writers and historians and the like as well: http://archives.thecranepool.net/5200/f1_t5243.shtml
  13. Sorry for yelling, I just wish a physical and non promotion affiliated Hall and museum would trump a newsletters where its all on someones hard drive with no formal inductions and I wonder if inductees even know they are in it!
  14. HOW MANY FUCKING TIMES DO I HAVE TO POINT THIS OUT THATS NOT A PROMOTIONS OWN HALL OR ON SOMEONES STUPID HARD DRIVE http://www.pwhf.org
  15. Smackdown was Friday from 2005-2015 before moving back to Thursday and eventually Tuesday. If you count TNA Impact, it was on Wednesday for a year or so at one point. They went Saturday (04-06) to Thursday (06-10) to Monday (2010) back to Thursday (2010-2014) to Friday (2015) to Wednesday (2015-2016) and back to Thursday (2016-present) Other than Sunday Night Heat, I guess Sundays are saved for PPVs. *face palm for Friday night Smackdowns (as well as WWECW and original NXT) and Sunday Night Heat as a weekly show*
  16. Lets see Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays... Aside from PPVs and occasional instances of having to switch dates, have there ever been regular Flagship TV on Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays?
  17. In a row? Couldnt resist.
  18. Oh come on, NO ONE CARES ABOUT DAAAAAAAAAMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMINIC! = In all seriousness, I'm surprised in recent years more people, especially former trainees like Foley haven't been in his ear about him. Maybe he'll be one of the large groupings of Legacy Inductees that they've been putting together in recent years.
  19. For the record 1993-1996 1993 Andre The Giant 1994 Arnold Skaaland, Bobo Brazil, Buddy Rogers, Chief Jay Strongbow, Freddie Blassie, Gorilla Monsoon, James Dudley 1995 Antonio Rocca, Ernie Ladd, George Steele, Ivan Putski, Moolah, Grand Wizard, Pedro Morales 1996 Baron Scicluna, Captain Lou, Snuka, Johnny Rodz, Killer Kowalski, Pat Patterson, Vince Sr, Valiant Brothers
  20. Or like twenty years ago. When no one gave a fuck and it wasn't even televised. Looking at the year-by-year, not many exclusive 1980s/Rock n' Wrestling era guys made it during this run 1993-1996 HOFers in those classes with major contributions to the era: Andre, Gorilla, Moolah, George Steele, Captain Lou, and Snuka (for the Pit segment and involvement in the first WM). Tempted to put Pat Patterson in there, but his booking and other behind the scenes roles were barely public knowledge beyond the sheets back then and then things don't get kicked up again for the era until it becomes part of the WM package in 2004. Maybe if they didn't get caught up with the idea that no one in the general fanbase cared about nostalgia until the waning days of the Attitude Era, the Jims. Tito Santanas, etc would have gone in during that period from 1997-2003. I'm guessing its a combo of not having classes during those years, as well as Jim Morris probably not feeling he was old enough for such an honor and the WWE trying to fit him into a class. As said many times this isn't a committee or electorate HOF, so its more on finding the right place and time for the inductee as much as it is the inductee accepting the honor.
  21. I can see the outrage back when kayfabe was much more strict, especially when the in house charity looks like will come out on top. But since its an era of loose kayfabe, its probably a case of a necessary evil to base a satilite book (to use a comic book phrase to describe mini-series and other titles a character will star in besides what are considered his or her main titles) like storyline on charitable donations, because otherwise why would anyone involved do this in the middle of WrestleMania season, when you are pretty assured that the majority of the audience now understands and accepts that everything is pre-planned.
  22. Some more fun, SummerSlam Final Matches HOF Hogan 88 89 91 05 Savage 88 89 Andre 88 DiBiase 88 Warrior 90 91 Rude 90 Sgt Slaughter 91 Iron Sheik (as Col. Mustafa) 91 Bret Hart 92 97 10 Yokozuna 93 Diesel/Kevin Nash 95 03 Shawn Michaels 96 03 05 Steve Austin 98 99 Mankind 99 Kurt Angle 00 Booker T 01 Goldberg 03 Edge 06 08 10 Locks for future HOF classes or should be in someday Davey Boy Smith 92 Lex Luger 93 Undertaker 94 97 98 08 15 Vader 96 Triple H 99 00 03 12 The Rock 00 01 02 Brock Lesnar 02 12 14 15 16 17 (despite what I said in the WM post) Chris Jericho 03 10 Randy Orton 03 04 07 13 16 John Cena 06 07 10 11 13 14 CM Punk 09 11 (I see this happening more than one more match) Jeff Hardy 09 Daniel Bryan 10 13 R-Truth 10 (dont laugh, I can see him filling out a class) Roman Reigns 17 (Okay, barring a career ending injury or Wellness firing NOW hes on the HOF trajectory) Samoa Joe 17 (I can see the Sting route with guys like him, AJ and Kevin Owens, that would go in as an Indie Darling of the post-WCW/ECW era group of HOFers) Not in and probably no chance Beefcake 89 Tiny Zeus Lister 89 General Adnan 91 Brian Underfaker Lee 94 Mabel 95 Chris Benoit 04 John Morrison 10 (though if he made a return, hed be in the has a shot category) Wade Barrett 10 (though if he made a return, hed be in the has a shot category) David Otunga 10 Heath Slater 10 (I have kids! I need that HOF ring!) Ryback 10 Darren Young 10 Michael Tarver 10 Justin Gabriel 10 Alberto Del Rio 11 (though if he made a return, hed be in the has a shot category) Braun Strowman 17 (way too early)
  23. That would explain why he probably is like Jim in the he wasnt in already!? department.
  24. Heard a podcast suggest Scott Steiner as a potential two time HOFer based on his being a huge WCW main event draw in their waning years. Soooo maybe there is room for Sid? Extrapolating that with other final matches in WM history, here who isnt in yet, or arent mortal locks (Taker, Rock, Jericho, Cena, Orton, HHH, Miz) at this point: Roman Reigns Seth Rollins Brock Lesnar (I can legit see him being a Bundy type and turn it down, maybe in after he passes or as a mellow 60-70 year old) Daniel Bryan (Pretty much Bubba Dudley last year as I bet they were waiting for him to say he was officially done) Batista (Again like Lesnar, I can see him turning a HOF slot down) Chris Benoit (We know hes never going in) Big Show (Okay, I can see as a Hillbilly Jim/Miz/Godfather/Koko pick, but for now, kind of on the outside) Bam Bam Bigelow (Great pick for a why isnt he in yet piece) Lawrence Taylor (Be a good celeb. Maybe next year) Sid Bundy 11 out of 34 final match participants. Not a shabby percentage.
  25. Which is the point Ive been trying to make! Especially with the correlation with the Yankees Monument park, which does include plaques honoring Papal visits to The Stadium, as well as Nelson Mandelas 1990 visit so there are Gagne/Von Erichs like inclusions in there. Unfortunately with the way the company gets treated by the mainstream and mass general public as PRO WRESTLING ITSELF, stuff like the one in Texas, and the one on Meltzers hard drive are barely known.
