  1. Hillbilly Jim is in the class.
  2. This was my initial reaction, but I don't think the story is really whether he'll be at Mania. It's whether he can create a Mania narrative worthy of his career. He's an old god fighting, and perhaps failing, to meet his standard. That's actually kind of different and neat. I agree. Cena, the character, would be insulted if say Bryan said okay, your opponent is this random local [enhancement] talent that you can face [squash in a few minutes] early on the Mania card! Ditto just about any other former champion who has had this sort of Im not booked storyline (Miz, Angle). Granted the jobber being the focus of the storyline as a face would be more compelling, but it is the idea of having one more among the GOAT moments as the lasting image of my career on this stage that is Cenas storyline here.
  3. Revenge for pulling a Hogan?
  4. I doubt Randy is ready to be put to pasture any time soon, but THAT wouldnt be a bad double retirement/end of PG Era Match.
  5. Carmella makes history with a cash-in!
  6. Like her Talking Smack interview after her first title Oh my God! I cant believe this...oh wait, Im still a heel!
  7. The Golden Girls gags from seven(!?) years ago are still pretty funny even in retrospect, due to how the Glamour Girls were being presented. Recently on another board someone went off on how bad it was that Alexa Bliss was giving an ageist promo on the 38-year old Mickie James! Not too far off from making age jokes at veterans expense when it seems thats what the Fed probably wanted you to think when you saw Martin and Kais act as a team.
  8. The R&R HOF is pretty dumb, but it seems to be based on a legitimate voting process - there's a committee that comes up with the nominations and then "Ballots are then sent to more than 900 historians, members of the music industry and artists..." It's more akin to the WON HOF than anything else.Which is why I equate the WWEs, TNAs, WCWs, ECW Arenas, etc with the same like honor of a specfic sports team. There are several that do run fan polls, but mostly they are done at the whim of who runs the team at the time. See Steinbrenner family and whom the Yankees have in Monument Park or retired numbers of for a perfect example.
  9. One reason why its for the best Pete Rose isnt going to Cooperstown any time soon, he wont be able to sell off what mementoes the Hall gives him!
  10. It is more Monument Park than Cooperstown though
  11. Like I said, I really wish that the physical Hall in Texas (formerly upstate New York) and Califlower Alley were much more prominent than Meltzers. That way the WWE Hall can be treated akin to a pro teams HOF or gallery (Yankees Monument Park), or a team retiring uniform numbers, or making statues inside/outside their home stadium.
  12. I agree with that. My guess is, its the bias of wishing Meltzers Hall was more respected than just small pockets of the IWC with voters as members of the communities.
  13. I agree with that. My guess is, its the bias of wishing Meltzers Hall was more respected than just small pockets of the IWC with voters as members of the communities.
  14. It matters because the other well known wrestling Hall only exists on some guys hard drive with no ceremonies or proof that it happened. They may not have a physical space yet, but at least do have a yearly ceremony with artifacts given to the HOFers. In all honesty I which the Pro Wrestling Hall now in Texas, or Cauliflower Alley were respected a lot more in the IWC than the WOs. Other wise, that is Vinces only competition when it comes to honoring the entertainment venues past.
  15. Has there been any other star that fallen so far from a ME scence to an after thought that you dont know why theyre still with the company? Wasnt it even three years ago when he was still an Internet Darling getting tossed by The Authority in both Survivor Series and The Rumble?
  16. How did he mess up Lashleys name?
  17. Ive used Clementine and gPodder on my laptop, Downcasts and Podcruncher on my phone for RSS feed aggregator needs
  18. I was down a TV Westerns theme song rabbit hole on YouTube recently, so now I cant see his name without hearing either the classic or the one from the 1980 James Garner revival in my head!
  19. I remember PTBs WM Rewind series on IV had Parv combing through the WOs to pinpoint when the switch was made. When was SummerSlam first at least rumored to be a thing? That could have been the time to give Savage the belt after chasing DiBiase since Mania.
  20. The shouting to Nakamura and Balor can be justified as him trying to make sure the guys know how to shut a crowd up. The 619? IDK, maybe Reigns was having an issue that Cena was trying to calm him down a bit, or explain how to take it.
  21. Gail Kim was also caught up in the Twitter hive mind.
  22. I think from the Rumble it's clear he was leaving. I wonder when he decided? You would have to think mid December by the latest. You figure he gives 6 weeks notice, that's around Christmas and goes through the Germany tour and gives them a couple of weeks to do the Hennig match. PTB Podcast did a whole segment of their RR 93 episode of looking through Graham Cawthons results site to pinpoint Flair final appearance for the company. Fun listen
  23. Someone explain to me the smark hate for Menonous?
  24. I find the concept of star ratings in 2K games, career mode or not, to be a bit surreal. Shouldnt video games be one corner where kayfabe is still alive and well, without worrying about how a fictional Meltzer would rate your match?
  25. It will be interesting to see where the turn is for Honky Tonk Man to become a slug that you couldn't wait to see get the belt off of, as opposed to a great heel finally getting his comeuppance. I know in the original 1988 SummerSlam episode Scott was giddy about being "about time" HTM got receipts and looked at the lights more often than not. Also I wonder at what point the idea started that Hogan and Savage would main event WM V. Obviously it was a year long plotted story line, but did they start to realize that's what they wanted in March, or was it back here in the Fall of 1987? I guess a good spark towards that would be when No Holds Barred was green lit, so whenever that was going to be a thing is another good suggested time.
