Lesnar winning was just the dumbest thing they did. I really don't see what the point was making Reigns the golden boy for a year just to lose at the big show to a guy who is supposed to be going back to UFC.

Im suprised they still havent put back up the Mankind/Rock half time heat match yet.

I have good and bad memories with the Watts era. The bad stuff I recall was banning the top rope moves and jobbing the Steiners to Doc/Gordy. I did like them having instant replay so the Heels didnt get away with everything.

If people are willing to believe they would inflate the number to seem more important, why wouldn't they believe that they would deflate the number to potentially save money on taxes? They weren't a public company at the time, so I could see internal financials being a little murky. Does WWE really have a reputation of doing something like that at any point in their history? When 32's attendance came out as 80k, no one seemed to think they might be fudging the taxes even though the official pictures don't make it look like anything near 1/5 of the arena is empty. If the main crux of the argument is that the arena "looks" at or near capacity in official photos and camerework, then that is some pretty poor evidence considering it's pretty much the job of the guys taking those pics to make the attendance seem as impressive as possible. There's no way they'd make it easy to see the empty seats scattered around the top level. 32 came when the company was publicly traded and they weren't going to play games like that. Wrestling has a long, long, LONG history that probably continues to this day of promoters claiming smaller houses than they actually drew when it came time to decide payroll or pay taxes. Also, compare and contrast this (also professional) photo of the Hoosier Dome at WM8. You can do all the camera tricks in the world, there are clearly more empty seats in the upper balcony and on the floor than there are at Mania 3. https://static01.nyt.com/images/2014/08/22/sports/Y-JP-MACUR/Y-JP-MACUR-master1050.jpg Here's the 1994 World Cup also at the Silverdome, also with a pro photographer at virtually the same angle, also with visible swathes of empty seats. Question is all the other Wrestlemania attandance numbers are they legit?

Comments that don't warrant a thread - Part 4

Especially after part of the story being told was that Benoit wanted to win the WWE title. He claimed that was part of why he left WCW, because he thought the WWE title was more important. So to have him win the Rumble then decide that a year old title (in lineage) was more important to chase than the very belt he made career altering decisions in the past to have a chance to win, was head scratching to see. I always presumed the reason Benoit jumped to Raw was because he was tired of getting screwed by Heyman out of the belt. Im sure there was more than one opportunity he got screwed over which is probably why no one helped him when Austin came to Smackdown to get his ATV. -

How do you feel WWE would have gone if Steamboat had stayed in WWE in 91 and they did a match there? -
Conversely, and it's been several years since I watched it, but from memory I'm sure Leilani Kai was quite negative about Moolah in her interview with RF. Is she another who's changed her turne? She wasn't happy with how things played out her last year or so as the Glamour Girls, and blamed Moolah for that. She said Moolah tried to become the manager for the Glamour Girls rather than Jimmy Hart, and then she had them regain the WWF belts from the Jumping Bomb Angels on the last show of a Japan tour when they were supposed to do it at WM4. Then Vince got pissed and cancelled their PPV match. But that's just wrestling business stuff, not even close to what the other handful are claiming. You'd think if she thought any of that had gone on, that'd been a good time to air her dirty laundry. I never bought this. The match in Japan happened in June of 1988, well after WM 4. I can't imagine them being upset because they couldn't do the blow off at WrestleMania 5, which was about eight months away. 1. The match happened in Japan. They could have easily ignored the title change and the fans wouldn't have been the wiser. 2. JBA vs. Glamour Girls happened infrequently on television after the JBA's won the belts, so fans wouldn't have even missed it. 3. Glamour Girls vs. JBA ran from June '87 to June '88. Sounds like a deal to bring over Tateno and Yamazaki for a year contract with no plans past mid 1988. 4. Leilani Kai didn't wrestle after June 1988 until early 1994 when she came in for Blayze. However, Judy stayed on and worked Rockin Robin for the next year until the women's division was scrapped. I do believe Moolah probably wanted to be their manager as she was off TV for good after Survivor Series 1987 and likely wasn't getting a booking fee any longer. It's also possible that she called them in Japan and lied to them. But Vince and Pat getting hot over it and scrapping plans? I doubt it. Thats a very interesting story. Was always a fan of the JBA. The Survivor Series match probably my fav and often wondered how many televised matches these two teams had. I know there is one on one of the Best of WWF tapes.

Russo appearing on Nitro and forcing all champions to be stripped of the titles. I hated it! -
Why is Paul Heyman going to be inducting Goldberg? If anyone should have done the honours it should be DDP, Bischoff or Sarge!

Would Steve Austin have had a better run on top without the Boss feud? I enjoyed Steve's run with the belt but I was so sick of these bloody screw job matches like Kane is on fire if he loses or Taker & Kane can't pin each other. Looking at it now how they built up Mania 13 to 14 I think Id have preferred it to stayed that way the following year where they eventually lead up to Mania 15 being Shamrock vs Austin. Ken in 97 didnt do too bad but if they kept him as a legimate threat to the title it might have been a good money match. -
Nice. That's a perfect quote for the story that match was telling. In another life, Elmore Leonard would have been a hell of a booker. Makes you wonder what their run from 87 to 88 would have been. One tantalizing possibility is putting together a Shawn/Ricky Steamboat match. It's a shame it didn't happen in '91 during The Dragon run. WWF's fault was giving him a new persona and basically forgetting his past. Everyone knew he was a former IC champ but I can't ever remembering WWE acknowledge it.

Daniel Bryan has been medically cleared to return to the ring...
iamthedoctor replied to Edwin's topic in WWE
If that is true then once he signs a new contract for several years WWE could just turn round and say no you cant wrestle we ve changed our mind and Bryan would be stuck. -
I really hope they don't refuse to let Bryan wrestle again when he re signs in september.
-
Wasent there some Raven/Goldberg match that was supposed to air but didnt.

For me I want the attitude extra stuff for Heat as alot did go down after broadcast as Ive seen it in highlight packages so they filmed it.

1. Im in two minds about this. I mean part of me feels they rushed Nakamura into a main event position after he went to the main roster but also I do feel that Nakamura needs to walk out with the title at Mania. Give him a strong push like his NXT run, where he could possibly hold the title till either Summerslam or Survivor Series. 2. The only thing that worries me about this is Bryan's contract ending in September and now they clear him. I think everyone know's he wants to wrestle and if WWE wont clear him he will wrestle on the indies but what if once he signs a new multi year deal they turn around and refuse to let him wrestle?

I remember Van Dam wrestling Perfect on Heat.

What is this our business. You got a Braun hating mouse in your pocket? *Feigning an injury to forfeit a belt is a loss. Is her streak legit or has WWE secretly been bumping it up as I never saw NXT so don't know how long she had been there for. If it is legit do they count house show matches for her streak? it's legit at least as far as her stint in the WWE goes, NXT included. they are not doing the goldberg approach of counting the number of matches she's been unbeaten, but instead going for years, which is way simpler. There were a few fans that wernt happy about WWE storylining Asuka's streak into this mixed tag Challenge. The only thing I don't like is WWE knows full well which charity is getting the biggest donation. I think they should all get the same prize.

If Styles is hurt would they risk making it a triple threat so AJ doesnt have to take the main load?

I know Lesnar is a beast and a legimate bad ass no one would want to mess with but I think if done right someone who looks like a shoot fighter to kick his ass could be pulled off as believable. -
Much like Sunday Night Heat did. Great when it started up till Mania 15 then just no angles happened on the show.

He already did at Fastlane. Id rather see him decimate Lesnar.
