  1. Yeah, I have Henry at 54 and Big Show at 55 right now. But, I have a feeling going back and rewatching some of this stuff is going to bump Henry up some more...I'm going to wait until the final day before I turn my ballot in...
  2. Where do you think you'll have him ranked vs. Big Show? Just out of curiosity... Good read... I also loved the Hall of Pain run... I'm going to go back and revisit some of this before turning in my ballot for sure...
  3. Matt D: "The animal intensity is part of why the botches don't really hurt the match..." Exactly. It feels like a FIGHT. I don't really have much to add, but just wanted to throw in on the love for this match. It was on a clearly different level of anything else on the card. I watched with other folks, and people were talking throughout the night... except during this match... it became silent and grew into a clear emotional investment in the story that was being told for everyone in the room. Matches like this remind me of why I was there for 4+ hours. I'm with Sleeze on this one... It's my favorite match of the year to this point. Also, the look on Brock's face during the calf crusher... priceless!
  4. I get more excited to watch one of these WCCW episodes than I do the current product. I had Raw on mute this week while actually watching this on my phone. Bundy is so awesome here.
  5. Haha nice! If this were a real fan club in the 80s youd mail out a decoder pen... and he could change the name of his finisher to the decoder pin.
  6. I would buy an Al Madril Fan Club shirt... all in. Ha.
  7. This is a cool thread. I wanted to try to do this for my man Savage, but maybe someone with a better memory can help me out. Off the top of my head I thought of these: 1984: Randy Savage & Lanny Poffo vs. The Rock N Roll Express - 06/25/1984 1985: Randy Savage vs. Jerry Lawler - 06/03/1985 1986: Randy Savage vs. Tito Santana - 05/04/1986 1987: Randy Savage vs. Ricky Steamboat - 02/15/1987 1988: Randy Savage vs. Ted DiBiase - 06/25/1988 1989: Randy Savage vs. Hulk Hogan - WMV or? 1990: Randy Savage vs. Tenryu - 04/13/1990 1991: Randy Savage vs. The Ultimate Warrior - 03/24/1991 1992: Randy Savage vs. Ric Flair - WMVIII 1993 and 94? not sure...? 1995: Randy Savage vs. Ric Flair - Great American Bash 1996: Surely I'm missing something? can't be Bash at the Beach right? 1997: Randy Savage vs. DDP - Spring Stampede 1998: Randy Savage vs. Bret Hart - Slamboree 1998
  8. I watched the Prime Time prior to WM3 as well, and I was kind of surprised at the lack of push to purchase the PPV as well. They did mention it more than the SNME, but the matches they showed weren't really a huge push towards the PPV. Bobby and Guerilla had their usual back and forth about Hogan and Andre, and they mentioned the show was 6 days away, but they didn't come out and say go buy the PPV (or mention it right before they went off the air). I found it a little odd. Maybe there are some commercials that are edited out of the Network that we don't see. Or, maybe I'm just so used to being beaten over the head with things now it just felt like they didn't push it that hard. I will add I loved that episode of SNME. The battle royal was awesome, loved the Piper stuff, really enjoyed the Roberts/Bundy match, and all things Macho Man.
  9. As you can see, I guess the link we used has been taken down unfortunately :/ Maybe Paul knows another way to find it...
  10. Just for fun, if I had to pick 10 guys from this list... Well, I'd write in Rick Martel if I could, but... -Jimmy Hart -CM Punk -Sgt. Slaughter -Jun Akiyama -Akira Taue -Don Owen -Blue Panther -Villano III -AJ Styles -Chavo Sr... probably ...
  11. Yeah, I love both of those moments too. Hogan crawling away from the splash and the Andre moment at the end. This match is tons of fun, and you gotta love Hogan in the face paint.
  12. With the full MSG shows being harder to find lately, Ive been following along with you guys watching all the Prime Times on the Network. Its a great companion to the podcast and also fun viewing when considering the GWWE project.
  13. Glad you guys are back!
  14. This is not even close to being a wrestler, but I was once asked to work as a bodyguard for a foreign heel in a local southern promotion around here. I can tell you, it was a blast. People were calling me a traitor yelling other things at me. When I was in the ring, the face "scared me" into running away and leaving the heel to take a few punches to the face before retreating with me. It was really fun. For fans of indie wrestling, I remember Nick (now in The Carnies) worked that show.
  15. I took it Neville lost his shot, and not the entire roster. I think they'll build to eventually him actually getting the shot (after a few other people get shots first). I could see taking it that way about the roster (I didn't see it that way).. it did make me want to see what happens next.
  16. It was announced on the show as a sell out, but who knows... How much of decline is being officially reported? I'm going to watch 205 Live this week too, I'm not a fan of Enzo at all, but I gotta say ... I really want to see people take him out. Love the Jamie Dundee comparison....

I'm with peachchaos in that the tag match was my favorite match of the night. I hope they keep Cesaro and Sheamus together for a while, and eventually get the belts back on them. I too want to see them in the main event scene as well. I haven't watched Raw yet, because I prefer Hulu without commercials... but... I don't necessarily think the Shield guys vs. the Miz guys would be a bad thing. Miz is a pretty awesome heel. He deserves to be in the main event scene with them at this point. I can't think of anyone else cutting better heel promos right now.

I wonder if any opinions would be different if the Brock/Braun match would have happened before the Cena/Reigns match? I think having Reigns kick out of SO MANY finishers would hurt any match that followed it. I think it amplified the feelings of folks behind Braun when he was put down with "just one?" F5. I do think that it would still have upset some based on what I'm reading, but I really think Cena and Roman should have gone last. I personally would have preferred it if they had found more creative ways to build the closing moments in their (cena/roman) match. Ultimately, and maybe I'm wrong, but ultimately I think all those finishers are really hurting the storytelling in matches and the flow of cards.
  19. I just finished this set, and I thought it would be fun to rank all 150 matches to see how my rankings would compare to the DVDR Best of the 1980's Mid South Results. First of all, I have to say this is probably my favorite collection of matches I've ever watched. I would have, at least, my top 49 at **** or greater. I absolutely loved watching all 150! I can't say that there was a single match that I didn't at least like. Here's my top 150 with the DVDR Ranking listed with it. 1. Adrian Street vs. Terry Taylor - LLT - 12/7/84 - 150 ***I accidentally left out DVDR Ranked #79 Ted DiBiase, Dr. Death, and Jim Duggan vs. Masked SS, Dick Murdoch, and Buzz Sawyer from 01/31/1986. I had that one around ***1/2, and I don't think that would be too far off from where I would place it.
  20. It should be noted that Dick Murdoch put Dr. Death in that cast after a match with Eddie Gilbert in which Murdoch was in Gilbert's corner (5/17/1986). Murdoch jumped off the top rope crashing into Death's arm on top of a chair. Ross and Magnum put it over like it could be a career ending injury. Doc was ready for revenge here, so he does everything he can to return the favor. Rightfully so, his focus is on the left arm of Dick Murdoch. And yes, I don't think Doc has ever been in match that Ross was calling without the Sooners being mentioned. I thought this was a great match. It told a good story. Murdoch tried everything from a mic stand, to a ring bell, and the help of EG, but he just couldn't keep the big man down.
  21. The Fabs are without a doubt in my personal top 5 and this match rules! I've loved seeing them as heels work the Guerreros as faces. Especially because of how much I enjoyed the Guerreros as heels prior to this and Fabs as faces in Memphis.
  22. The Fabs as faces in Memphis are one of my favorite tag teams ever, and I absolutely loved the Guerreros as heels during the earlier years of the mid-south set. It has been really cool watching them work these past few matches with the heel and face dynamic reversed. I've really enjoyed it. Two really great tag teams that were great at being faces or heels.
  23. Yeah, this was a really great violent and intense match. I'm with you on the commentary, I thought it was really bland. If JR had been calling this thing, I think it would be even more remembered by some. He even mentioned that the fans were sitting and he didn't feel like chanting Duggan, then he said, "I guess they are ready for him to comeback now" or something like that. Not good. Anyway, I loved the action and thought it was great follow-up to the previous classic. Sawyer really sold the beating well and yes, great story of Duggan getting lost in the beatdown only to lose to chair shot.
  24. I'm wondering if the match on the set is a different version, and that is why you didn't like it as much? It seemed to me that about 6 minutes into the match, the commentator and announcer in the building state that the match has been going on for 15 minutes. I didn't notice the clip, but it leads me to believe that the version on the set is probably clipped and likely the version on the NWA site is not clipped. I could be wrong, but that's a guess...
