The last of that, against Io, was especially awesome. I had no idea that Pentagon vs. a bunch of Stardom wrestlers would be that good but I really enjoyed it.

Again with this bullshit? Heidi gets signed. Will she be in a mask? Hero gets signed. Will he get a bodysuit? What is wrong with you people? He's not even saying that WWE should put him in a suit or something, just wondering if they would try. It's not exactly a stretch to imagine that WWE, a very body image-conscious company historically, might try to do something to disguise or change Hero's look, especially since a few years ago they fired him based on that look.

I doubt I've seen more than two dozen Scurll matches, but personally I don't see what's so bad about him. He's got some set shtick, definitely, but not significantly more so than your average indy performer, and at his shit is usually over with the crowd, especially in the UK. I sometimes wish he'd play more for actual heat but at least the Villain thing is a hook, with a look and an attitude to distinguish him. And yes, he's caught in the modern Ospreay/Richochet go-go-go style much of the time, but sometimes that's still a lot of fun. I don't see what's so bad about the guy, except that he's overrated by a niche of fans.

Unwatchable is the best word. This format never worked, it's just a god awful mess until the very, very end.

Glad others noticed the distinctly Kermit-esque voice of the WCW exec. I never noticed before just how slavishly this storyline follows the 'Mania IV storyline. Giant (Andre or otherwise) wins the title from longtime holder Hulk Hogan in a screwjob scenario. The title ends up vacant, then Randy Savage wins it in a big tournament style match where Hogan is never technically defeated. It's almost shot for shot at times.

I actually thought the angle did make sense, though I'm almost certainly giving it more thought than the bookers did. The whole point of Arn vs. Flair was Arn wanted Flair to prove he was still the old Flair, THE MAN, the guy he dedicated his career to following. So, what is more vintage Flair than screwing over Sting? So the original conflict is real, then after Fall Brawl Flair approaches Arn with this plan and Arn is convinced that Flair is back to his old self and re-aligns with him in secret, and Pillman comes along because he's quietly been a Flair guy forever and of course he wants to be a Horsemen. Probably more in my head than in the canon, but still I think it works. -
Between Sherri, Flair, and now Sullivan, someone must have really figured cross dressing was a great way to get at Hulk Hogan in this era.

Been watching through mid 90s WCW shows and holy shit do I hate Jim Duggan. Dude makes a joke out of Austin, won't sell for Vader worth shit, won't sell for Meng, just runs over anybody and doesn't seem to want to do any work worth a damn. Not sure if he or Beefcake is worse in this era but Hogan brought some real stinkers in with him. I know that's not news or anything, just something I am dealing with in my personal viewing right now.

Think LU is having a great third season so far, though I'm not wild about the Sexy Star angle. I'm all for intergender stuff when it makes sense, but shoe-horning it in just to be historic is not ideal. If a woman is going to be in a major role, make sure she's good enough to live up to it? I love that they develop a lot of characters though, and the vignettes and scenes they show are usually about 1 minute long each, so I wouldn't say it's "too much time". And if you're having trouble suspending your belief on a show with canonical time travel, I think you may be watching the wrong product.

I'll be honest, I have a real hard time imagining "loving" this. Even if there was a worked element, which there may have been, it obviously went way too far. This is closer to footage of a crime than it is a wrestling match.

This is a pretty excellent match, but I'm a little surprised how many say it is the clear high point for Mero. I don't really see this above some of his work with Regal and Arn from the previous year. Longer, but not really better in my eyes. -

I wonder if that's also a case of a career killing win? Never felt Del Rio was ready to win the Rumble at that point. It propelled him up so fast that one could argue the fans never got the bad taste out of their mouths.

If they had him ride the sentimental win off of Edge's retirement and not turned him or had him drop back to Orton, then I could actually see him potentially be more solidified in the main event. If he had held it long enough to drop it to Mark Henry, for instance.

This one is more of a what-if, but wasn't Ultimate Warrior going over Undertaker originally penciled in for WM8? Might not have killed his career outright, but could have had a huge negative effect down the line.

WWE had invested so little in Christian as a main eventer anyway that I don't this his career really had a chance to be seen on that level by most fans. I guess you can make the case that he could have had a good main event career if they hadn't killed it, but it's hard to say for sure.

Never really got the big deal with Nese. Sure, he can be very athletic, but I don't feel like he really puts it all together very well or uses it to his advantage. Definitely agree on Gallagher > Sabre.

Speaking of Duggan, Austin getting squashed by him pretty much killed his WCW career stone dead.

It didn't kill him, but you could argue it took 18 years for Goldberg himself to fully recover from the way his streak ended.

Strongly disagree with this. Chikara has done consistent niche business and experienced more growth than a lot of more "serious" or "real" independents, and from what I understand DDT draws as well as anything not named New Japan. A promotion like that probably would never be the biggest one in the world, but there's no business left to expose. It's just a different kind of product/style.
