  1. I watched that bit you put on twitter... that clip needs a serious warning label for those with weak hearts, holy crap.

If pressed I'd guess somebody dragged him to a good match during his TNA run, maybe AJ Styles? I couldn't say for sure though. I've never really understood his appeal at all.
  3. In fairness there were no booking decisions to get pissed over (in that match, anyway).

I liked Storm a lot at one time, but I struggle to think of anything worthwhile he's done since 2012-13. I'd argue he's pretty decisively past his prime at this point, much more so than Roode.
  5. Let's not go crazy here. Brandi sucks pretty badly.
  6. I was shocked when I went looking for certain old ROH matches and simply could not find them. I'm sitting here with money in my hand, willing to fork over a reasonable about for certain old shows, and apparently they are just like, nah, we don't want it. Something they seriously need to work on, promotions a fraction of their size are lapping them in terms of making their back catalogue profitable.
  7. For good, I'm not sure it qualifies but my favorite ref moment ever is Charles Robinson sprinting down the ridiculously long 'Mania ramp in '08 during the Taker/Edge match, arriving like a bullet and counting one of the best nearfall counts I can remember seeing. Not a referee story per se, but King Mo as the guest enforcer at BFG '12 for Storm vs. Roode is a favorite of mine. His look of shock when he sees some of the crazy bumps these guys are taking and the epic blade job by Storm is priceless and adds a lot to the match. Someone mentioned Triple H but not this match, he does a great job of being damn near invisible for Bryan/Cena at Summerslam '13. You'd think he would struggle not to call attention to himself in that environment, but he does a great job. And if you're into comedy stuff, take your price of goofy Bryce Remsburg spots. Not everybody's cup of tea, but I enjoy it. As for bad referees, I'm not as sure. Some lucha referees can be really annoying but I'm not knowledgeable enough to say who, when, or where. Dragon Gate refs always pause ridiculously before the third count of a pinfall, but that's more of a house style I guess. Can't come up with anything specific, crappy refs don't usually last long I guess.
  8. I don't like Hogan/Rock as much as some, but it's definitely one of my favorite Hogan singles matches. I can only think of a few guys I liked him better against one on one. Bockwinkel, Orndorff, maybe that one Muta match.

Fair point, but I also thought Roode/Nak smoked every Joe/Nak match. Maybe my personal tastes are just that different.
  10. It's also a question of relativity. During Cody's greatest WWE popularity they were throwing title reigns at guys like Del Rio and Jack Swagger, so by the bar WWE set for themselves Cody seems like a fine choice for that tier. It's very similar to what happened to Dolph Ziggler.
  11. It's not like ADR and buzz have traditionally gone together anyway... I've actually mostly like Impact for the past few years, but this was so bad I don't think I'll ever watch again. If Russo's not back, he sure as hell mailed Jarrett his playbook.

Is "nod of respect" within the scope of Braun's character? I haven't really been watching but it was my impression that basically he just wrecks everybody in his path. Not saying it's wrong to see it that way, just wondering if it's supported by the way they've built him up.

Strongly disagree with the idea that Roode can't excel as a singles guy. He's had really strong matches with Storm, Aries, Lashley, and Eric Young over the past few years, just for a start. And that Nakamura match was no carry job either, honestly I thought Roode made that match. Refusing to get up for Nak's finisher, forcing him to attack from awkward positions, that final single leg crab where he was punching at the injured knee like a man possessed. I just can't buy the narrative that Roode doesn't have much to offer.
  14. But it feels different than, say, Goldberg winning a title despite getting blown up by walking down the ramp. Daniels and the Hardys can still go. Not so sure about Bubba, but six man tags can hide a lot (I guess?).
  15. Owen/Bret, Austin/Bret, TLC at 17, Hogan/McMahon, Benoit/HBK/HHH, Taker/Edge, Taker/HBK at 25 would probably top my list. I think I'd go with Austin/Bret or the XX triple threat as my first. As for worst, it's probably not objectively worst but there are few matches that I'd hate to have to rewatch more than Taker/HHH at 27. Perhaps the most contrived drama ever. Taker/Shane and Ambrose/Lesnar would be close though.
  16. How can it be a fat joke? How can it be a joke at all? Jokes are supposed to have something to do with comedy, not be the exact opposite of it. Jesus, is Lawler terrible in that role.
  17. Right or wrong, it seems fans view her as a great wrestler from a bad era. I remember when she was supposed to come in and save us from Kelly Kelly as champion. It didn't really happen, but I guess the idea kind of stuck.
  18. Is it wrong to say Bobby Heenan at the '92 Rumble?
  19. Well it depends on what they do with them, of course. If they are just doing random skits between matches, or cutting a promo at the top of the show, it probably doesn't do much for them. If they get to do something memorable or get involved in an angle, then it could be a good thing since they don't seem to have any kind of meaningful match lined up.
  20. Really enjoying seeing someone cover CHIKARA on this board. I agree, thought this match was very well done and that the company has done a great job with the quick turnaround on the former members of the HeXed Men going back to their face roles.
  21. I've just been watching his 80s stuff and even that is not as bad as reputation might suggest. He's certainly all in with the gimmick, and that hammerlock submission thing is actually pretty nasty. Sad to hear this. Also appeared in my favorite movie that features a wrestler, playing Tor Johnson in Ed Wood and doing a great job.
  22. Oh shit!! I feel like I just saw him do that guest spot on Lucha Underground. He look fine, got bowled over in his chair as I recall. Sucks.
  23. I came up with 31 on my list, but I'm missing of the big 80s stuff so I've no doubt it will jump up further in time.
  24. To be fair, "Diesel" does sound a lot like "weasel".
  25. Put me down among those who usually don't notice. Reading this site made me watch for it a little more and now I can see if it I'm trying hard enough, but generally it doesn't bother me unless it's really egregious.
