  1. In what was his 7th retirement/indefinite period of absence. Kouraken looked dangerously full around 2000+ level which despite what ajw may have said is more than the building can hold and still be somewhat legal. The best part of the night was asking for his retirement ceremony to be done early in the night so his elderly mother could get home safely. How close is that to the record, probably held by Terry Funk? Funk says he has had 22 retirements according a interview earlier this year.

  3. Between the latest jeff learns wrestling and the newest thROH the years I listened to two podcasts in a row with hentai discussion. Fun show as always and even though I was not one of those who disliked the more modern shows it is nice to see another one back in 1987.
  4. I thought he was still going to be busy with filming for a while so this is a surprise. Maybe itll just be a one-off appearance to give the weak looking Smackdown team a bit of credibility. If they need to write him off again, I can see them shooting an angle with Braun to set up Mania i fully expect this to be one-and-done. before returning a few weeks out from mania
  5. https://twitter.com/shanemcmahon/status/928276028165971968 So we have the fifth member of smackdowns team and it's a big one. Coming back so quickly could not have been the initial plan when he left after loosing to Roman. The way he acted after the match made it feel like a long term thing until mania at the earliest until he came back. But he is announced two weeks out from survivor series on twitter of all things not on last night's smackdown.
  6. Hahahahaha geriatric Jericho really? I guess it is being done to try and get some more western fans in. Tanas opponent is not that interesting either the jr title match does not have any apeall to me and I really dislike okada and naito when not Wrestling tana, so this show does not look very good. At least last year you had kushida Vs hiromu, tana Vs naito and shibata Vs goto which were all good to great. This year nothing on the card looks better than good at best. I suppose the naito match will have a lot of heat but I really don't care about either man. Writing spoilers on mobile is really difficult.
  7. Yeah, from memory of the AJPW TV show taped that day, which showed at least the tag title change and Bulldogs vs Rock'n'Roll, the matches were super underwhelming. Pretty much sucked to be honest. A few more matches aired like the Mask-Sharpe bout and possibly Tenryu-Irwin. Sparse crowd too which didn't help. I have access to I think everything that aired on Japan TV which was the misawa match, Irwin Vs tenryu, the funks match, 8 mins of the 30 min bulldogs Vs rock and rolls draw and the tag title match between Gordy Hansen Vs yatsu jumbo.
  8. Does anyone know anything about the international bash show from 1989 in Kansas. It is a joint ajpw show with American stars. The card is: Bobby Jaggers vs. Rick McCord Tiger Mask vs. Tommy Sharpe Doug Somers & Gary Young vs. Dory Funk Jr. & Terry Funk Bill Irwin vs. Tenryu Akio Sato vs. Curtis Hughes Tag Team Match (Special Referee: Pat O'Connor) The British Bulldogs (Davey Boy Smith & The Dynamite Kid) vs. The Rock 'n' Roll Express (Ricky Morton & Robert Gibson) AJPW World Tag Team Title Match Stan Hansen & Terry Gordy © vs. Jumbo Tsuruta & Yoshiaki Yatsu WWA World Heavyweight Title Title Match Mike George © vs. Steve Ray Does anyone know how this card came about and why ajpw placed some importance on it as they had a tag title change on this show.
  9. Ricochet has been announced as being X to face eita at dragon gates gate of destiny show in a few days. I guess this is part of his goodbye tour to the indies/previous workplaces he is going on. I assume he looses the pwg title on his first defence before heading to wwe.
  10. A brand new promotion called rival pro wrestling in California had there second show yesterday and it was named 'dead on arrival' maybe not the best naming choice.
  11. That was embarrassing to watch, his promo had no flow or life to it just spewing a bunch of clichés "each and every one of you" really? Also does he have an illness or problem with his voice or has it been that long since I last heard him speak? For your sanity do not go to the comments of that video.

    WWE TLC 2017

That main event was a magical display of what the fuck? It was like they found out that two of their top guys on raw were out so decided fuck it and concocted the biggest acid trip of a match possible. A odd cross between the stupidness of the uncensored 96 main event and the absurtity and sillyness of a dragon gate dead or alive cage match (but without nearly as much drama). I had some fun watching it but hope that I never have to see it ever again. Beyond any sort of star rating. Beyond that Kurt did not look good until he came back at the end other than that he looked really bad. Kane killed Braun twice, there was a that was murder chant and miz took five finishers before he lost. It was what a five star match in wwe 2k looks like.
  13. In the pwg and lucha underground i have watched the sound of every strike is the extact same due to post production in the case of LU and insessent leg slapping in pwg. It does not matter if it is to the head, arm, leg, chest or is a chop, kick, punch, elbow or miss altogether they all sound the same. its quite funny as everything sounds equally as brutal but that makes everything less brutal and if a strike the finish it just makes me think 'is that it?' as there has been a ton of them in the match or the same night all sounding the same.

    WWE TLC 2017

This whole situation seems similar to GAB 06 but here they are throwing out huge matches. Now I know this is being done to save the card and without aj comming over and someone not filling in Romans space would be disastrous but did it really need to be angle? With his history a tlc match. Which while in itself very dangerous opens him up to future matches. If he can wrestle in a tlc match then why cannot he wrestle more regularly? That is a very dangerous path to go down. On top of this it is two big matches and one huge moment for wwe fans with angles return that are being put out there with no build up. Yes they have two days but with no TV (that anyone watches at least) it seems like a waste. There has been talk that angle may be in this match due to him Wrestling at survivor series so he already had a medical done but who knows.
  15. I thought aj but apparently those two had a segment this week.
  16. The last time he was on TV he beat baron Corbin by DQ. Also on that show aj styles lost to James Elsworth in a ladder match. It is only last December but seems so long ago.
  17. I adore Baba Vs destroyer 2/3 falls from may 1969 just 55 mins of purely brilliant matwork. I cannot remember anything before it that I have loved as much but then again I have not seen a huge amount of 50s and 60s footage. But I know there is surprisingly a large amount out there with plenty of jwa footage in particular. https://youtu.be/nAoTEK7wNts
  18. It is down as 20/9. Not 22/9.
  19. Apparently Colonel Sanders is a playable character in 2k18 and snickers and KFC logos are the achievements make of that what you will.
  20. This was a very good ajpw real world tag league match. You could tell that misawa in particular was holding back and so were Jun and Williams. Ace however played a blinder in this match showing real grit and intensity in all he did. Now one thing that hurt this match was the crowd, for an ajpw kouraken crowd I expect them to be loud for most of the match but here they only came alive for the last five mins, but good lord did they come alive. There were periods of drag in the mid 10 mins of this match where it felt like they really were just filling in time to go thirty. But all four guys are such good wrestlers that they could carry through on three quarter speed. Misawa not being involved all that much does not bother me as he is playing the big brother and knows perfectly well where to pick his spots. The final stretch is magnificent with the nearfalls the saves and the struggle of akiyama. The backdrop driver was utilised very well with one of the most disgusting ever to misawa and Williams going for one on the outside was a real please god no moment. In all I agree with zenjo that this was a very strong b show main event that could have done with a bit better crowd. ***3/4
  21. For the first 15 mins of this match it was a very well built and we'll paced tag match. It felt like something out of the late 80s real world tag leagues. But after 15 or so mins it turns into a big lads bomb fest. Now this section of the match was also very good but my issue is that I did not feel that they gelled together all that well. You had the oppened portion then there was a four way brawl to the outside and that signelled the change and when they got back in it was bombs all the way. While it does not gel together well this was still a very good match it just needed a smoother transition between phases. Shingo looked so fresh here after being stale in dragon gate since he dropped the dream gate I would not mind him moving to the strong division for a year or so before coming back home to DG. Strong BJ were as good as ever and Sato despite getting lost at times was his usual brutal stiff self his look though is getting worse. However on the whole this is a very enjoyable way to spend 30 mins and is one of my favourite bjw matches of the year along with the Suzuki okabyashi match and the twin towers Vs BJ match. ****
  22. I think hell in a cell matches have finished elsewhere before. There is a hhh one where he wins by pedigreeing his opponent on a chair on the roof of the cell and pins them up there. Or at least I think there is I may be imagining it.
  23. Marty scrull is up there as maybe the most try hard 'charismatic' wrestler in the world. He goes from party Marty a few years ago to the villian. Here he has a plauge mask and an umbrella when he comes to the ring and then he has his stupid flappy arms after every move and the stupid finger breaking spot. And after he has all of that over gimmicking he joins the bullet club so he now gets his own bullet club logo shirts and is throwing up too sweets and hanging round with the young bucks He is just so over gimmicked and has so much stuff that just screams to me "am I charismatic now?" Look how wacky I am. I am cool now right. After all that rubbish which makes me hate him then he starts wrestling and he is every modern indie clichie of respek spots, suplex no sells, long reversal exchanges where they never touch each other and superkicks. So yeah he is terrible. As for worst on television? In terms of people I get no enjoyment from he is on a level with Kenny omega, will ospreay and Dolph ziggler just the dirt worst.
  24. They do get interviews but they are all njpw guys when in the USA, the regulars, predictably are the young bucks and omega
  25. You think this is bad? These two have a midcard cagematch at lockdown 2012 which had 15 finishers in it (I counted) including ones off of the top of the cage and top rope angles slams. That match goes just over 15 mins it is quite literally finishers from 2 mins in. I think it would be the absolute hight of everything is a transitional move angle. The finish they just crawl out the door.
