  1. Not at all. He was responsible for the women's division rise, which was excellent and actually drew ratings, and pretty much everything good in TNA while Russo was also there can be attributed to Mantell. I may be wrong but I thought that mantell at one point left all of the mens side of things alone and focused purely on the knockouts and I think this coincided with the start of the great awesome kong vs kim feud.
  2. It is an escalation year on year, after the Shane match he left his gloves in the ring. Vs roman he left his hat, coat and gloves I don't want to know what he leaves this year.
  3. But rises again harder and stronger
  4. That mae young crowd were not completley at fault they were sitting through 16 matches in one sitting i completely expect a crowd to be dead by the end of it. The differnce between episode one and 4 is huge as they just look and sound so tired i do not blame them in the slightest.
  5. Laith is Kimber Lee who was a bigger name in American wresting than the alpha female. That is the only logical reason I can come up with as without that I have no reason not to put the monster through. Maybe they did not want two of them in there with the way the are pushing Shayna? But why not build up to the meeting of the monsters which I guess they can do down the line.
  6. Yes to kento Vs ishikawa ajpw 27/8/17 My thoughts from the match thread: Kento Miyahara and shuji ishikawa are my two favourite wrestlers in the world and ajpw is my all time favourite promotion and there was a really hot crowd. So pretty much this match was made for me. I do not expect anyone else to be as high as me on this match. The story for me here was that shuji was going to do what he always does and just brutalise the back and neck of kento in order to set up for his big moves. While kento did not really have a plan outside of just survive. He came out fireing throwing a ton of kicks and tossing ishikawa into the barricades. But shuji takes over with a avoiding a kento dive from the apron and kento landed neck first on the guardrail not unlike misawa in the match 2003 kobashi match. From here shuji targeted the neck with neck holds and even a fire thunder driver on the apron. All through this kento sold like death and it was amazing. After this control segemnts kento made the first of many quick comeback attempts some of which worked but most failed. When he did take back over is where my one criticism of the match came in I think he got back a little to easy without taking a long enough time to get back in with his comeback. They move into a sintilating finishing stretch with an amazing strike exchange that had no parity like when someone like okada does it and has shit strikes, here kento has decent strikes but is completely outclassed by shuji so while he is hitting as many strikes as shuji his are not hurting the monster. It is brutal stiff with shuji just murdering the young ace with elbows and knees lifts a contrast to kento's more elaborate knee strikes. The big moves and kickouts were hot without ever going into the realm of excess, yes there are big kickouts from kento but he is the ace in the biggest match of the year so if there is a time for several big move kickouts it is here. I have seen that some people are annoyed at the finish and that kento did not hit shuji with enough moves and that it was a bit flat. While I do see that opinion as I thought shuji was going to kickout of the shutdown German. But I don't think it was terrible that he did not kickout. I didn't really mind a very minor knitpick at worst. I really loved this match the timing was excellent as was the vast majority of the selling and the transitions made sense (with the one time kento came back to fast) and it was not just your turn my turn. ****3/4 my match of the year so far and the only match this year when even the thought of ***** has entered my mind. Nomura Kai Vs strong bj ajpw 27/8/17- yes This was a very strong tag title match to compliment last year's hoss title match. Here it was the case of strong bj being far more experienced as a team while Nomura and kai, a team of guys who lost their tag partners who have barely teamed just desperatly throwing themselves at the mounds of muscle that is strong bj. Nomura in particular was spectacular in this match and was really his commingled out party and made him a star and in one match went from a guy just out of young boy status to kouraken triple crown challenger. The big bombs and brilliant performances in the ending sequence between Yuji and Nomura make up for the fairly dull 5 mins in the early to mid match. ****1/4 one of the tag matches of the year along with twin towers Vs strong bj.
  7. It is a gaming live stream platform predominantly so the vast majority will be gaming, to find the aaa stuff search for user luchalibreaaa. Then on their videos section you will find tripplemania.
  8. I have watched the reigns and cena segment and I have mixed feelings. The delivery and control of the crowd was great as were some of the lines. But some of the stuff Cena came out with which are arguably legitimate criticisms but are not something to be done in public certainly not on national TV. I think they could have created a buzz without the backstage language. What puts it above a hhh promo is that it was captivating to watch because Cena is interesting and has great delivery unlike a hhh drone.

The one negative I have is that on one of kento's comeback attempts he did not sell well but that is far from ruining the match and he only did it once. ****3/4 my match of the year so far and the only match this year when even the thought of ***** has entered my mind this puts it as the only ****3/4 so far this year just ahead of tana Vs naito 1 Brock Vs Goldberg, shuji Vs kento 1 and the ss main event all of which were ****1/2.
  10. We have entered the realm of Avant Garde podcasting.
  11. An utter nuts four way main event. You had 4 huge guys just splattering each other with big moves for twenty mins pretty much all of which looked really great. Lesnar and Braun are obviously the stars here with this match really setting up the Braun Vs lesnar singles match down the line. Roman and Joe were both good in this match but took a backseat to the work of the two primary characters in lesnar and Braun. I loved the first ten or so minutes as they just unloaded on each other and had little moments between each of the four guys in the ring with the most hype being Braun and lesnar followed by an awesome Roman Vs Braun exchange where Roman failed to push Braun over so Braun just one arm pushed him away. Following the carting out of Brock I thought the match went down a gear as the heat was lost a bit. Once he returned it got a little better but I still think the oppening is the best part of the match. The selling of lesnar is out of this world as he sells being the wounded monster so well with his staggered selling that he is one of the only guys in the world that can get away with it, with most others it looks like shit. Braun and Roman had a great moment where he kicked out of a spear or superman punch or something by pushing Roman vertical which got a chuckle from me. I loved that all they went for was finishers at the end because they knew they had to get it if they wanted to survive and put across how desperate they were. On a negative the crowd were really annoying with the undertaker chants throughout and I cannot take the table being pushed on someone as dangerous due to how flimsy it is Joe also disappeared in the final stretch which was a shame. All in all a great hoss/final boss battle that really put over Braun as the only viable threat to Brock in a one on one match at this point. Apparently saved the show too but I am not watching the rest of it (outside of usos match) to find out if that is the case. ****1/4
  12. Something that I have found while looking through noah themes is the themes that I am calling grandsword wannabees. https://youtu.be/liVCJEUjDQk Then there are the Wannabees: https://youtu.be/kIj1chM2Myw And a grandsword wannabee for a kobashi Wannabee. There is a YouTube comment on the video (I know YouTube comments are evil) which says "a good song but lacking what made kobashi's so special, pretty much like shiozaki in general." I think that sums up shiozakis career quite well. https://youtu.be/o116dRMFv6U As for best ever holy war, Spartan X, shadow explosion are all great. As are Mochizukis theme and maybe best, pomp and circumstance which just suited savage perfectly.
  13. Jason Jordan faced Jean Pierre goulet. Oh wwe and your jobber naming systems.
  14. Really good TV main event. They left a lot on the table for future matches between the two which I expect to get more and more crazy as they go on. This match as stated above was a simple match which went a long way to elevate nakamura as he got a clean win over the past/present top guy. On the backdrop bump I am not sure what to say, whether naka was not strong enough, or cena went to do a backdrop bump and naka over rotated it or cena is just really awkward at bumping. Whatever it was I hope cena is ok as they have just got him back and he is their biggest star. Fun simple back and forth match with a clean as a sheet ending. ***1/2
  15. This show aired on a two week delay, the same day the show took place (July 17th) bjw held their biggest show of the year in sumo hall. On that show Ishikawa showed up to do colour commentary for the second half of the show he had a huge amount of damage to his right eye that made the wait for this show and match even more agonising. The match as expected was super stiff and really heated. There was a split crowd as these two monsters clobbered each other for 19 1/2 minutes for our enjoyment. The work all the way through was snug and visceral. Finishing with the incredible sight of ishikawa doing a splash mountain powerbomb on suwama and the giant slam. This match also features a great moment where late on Suwama tried for a strike exchange but is easily beaten and does some great jelly legs selling. This match is another feather in the cap of Ishikawa as he continues to increase his claim on wrestler of the year. ****1/4 on a level with the Jake lee match but slightly below the kento match from three months ago.
  16. This match felt like a more condensed version of their CC match from earlier this year, that was short in itself at around 12m. This match goes eight and a half and is hot all the way through with a great sold out crowd fully behind Joe. The story is, much like the CC match, about Joe working kento's back via clubbing blows, Boston crabs and some of the best Irish whips you will see all year into the corner. Kento sells this work really well but here is where the problem with the short time comes in. He has been worked over but then makes a quick comeback around 5 mins in, they do a few counters before kento wins with the shutdown German. Him coming back so quickly felt rushed due to time constraints and it felt too easy. After the match doering expressed his desire for a triple crown shot in the future but this match made him look a bit too easy to beat for him to earn such a big match. Kento has beaten him twice this year why should he offer him a championship match if he wins his belt back as expected at sumo hall. Small gripes aside this was a very well worked big guy Vs little guy match with a hot crowd. A small way below the cc match at ***3/4.
  17. Excess the match. I have not watched much of the g1 this year, you guys who have watched all of it are mad. But I chose to watch this one out of morbid curiosity or something. A twenty five minute long match with 5 mins of feeling out, then 20 mins of MOVEZ~ you had tons of knees, powerbombs, 'fighting spirit' for days with two guys a cannot buy it from, then we got a tiger driver 98 and a burning hammer. Utterly stupid and pretty much utterly without merit with the exception of I guess that the moves were executed well. The match did not even have a really hot crowd that could have gone a way to help matters, but no the crowd was there but not all that hot. It felt like those matches Elgin had with Davey Richards back in 2011/2012. * On being cold on omega as Chad mentions, I have never liked omega he just has no connection to me. I don't know if it is stupid stuff he has done in the past and still does in undercards or it is the terrible steryotipical anime villan faces. Whatever it is I have never had any connection with him. On top of that his matches usually always suck and i find them a cure for insomnia.
  18. According to today's observer radio paraphraseing here, aries did not ask for his release. He was highly unpopular with the writing staff. Will get the 90 days non-compete cause as mentioned by sir edger. So until mid October he will work only approved indies so don't expect him turning up in roh or njpw until after that point.
  19. The only match I can find with the two of them in is the 2004 tag mentioned by Rah which was japw basebrawl 2 12/06/04 low ki and acid Vs sonjay dutt and teddy Hart. There are 4 reil Vs ki matches in 2000 none of which are cage matches they are in JCW japw and wxw. There is one reckless youth Vs ki match for the japw championship which ki loses. Youth Vs acid I can find one singles match in 1999 and several multi-man matches mainly in czw. Nothing which is down as a cage match. Now this does not mean you are wrong but just may mean that it was never recorded digitally or if it was it is not in any database with an English language section.
  20. The end of fortune dream 3 was the last time I cried at Wrestling I think. Kobashi was shaking hands with the fans and suddenly Spartan X started playing he instantly cried and some of the audience in koarkuen cried and so did I.
  21. Exhibit #3 DX and Steph I am not sure on the exact date but between unforgiven 1999 and survivor series. There is a raw where DX abduct Stephanie and it is implied heavily that they rape her. Road dog is seen licking his lips and drooling as they drag her away. After this the commentators wonder about what happened next with king wondering aloud. The next smackdown it comes out that oh it was fine that they raped this girl as it was not intact Steph and instead some "ditzy drama student" so it is fine that they raped this girl as it was not Steph. DX say that they did it to get to Vince and no mind was paid to the fact that they admitted to raping a girl as it was not anyone important so it is fine. There are no repocusions and they just move on next week I want to bathe in bleach after writing that.
  22. If you just go to some of the more umm unsightly parts of the wrestling internet such as wrestling forum or reddit you get a lot of whining about roman headlining again or that if they do that match is should be done on a lesser show. What other show would you do a match that huge. Why would wwe put up a first time match between two of their top stars and the two that everyone knows are the top guy and the heir to that position, why would they put that match on fastlane as some twit on reddit sugested. Of course it should main event the biggest show of the year. Do they really think that while awsome nakamura vs aj would be a bigger match? God it is annoying. But on a more positive note lesnar vs roman we have less of a wait and if roman wins we can get a title reign with him vs braun and matches with joe who beat him to set up the gbof match. I guess a seth match and a dean match. I think that there could be a brock rematch at some point. That is of course sugessting that roman wins.
  23. There was a woman in the front row opposite hard cam that was giggiling with glee at every strike thrown durring this match, that was me when watching this match. As expected it was a very beefy stiff match with some macho posturing between the two main event guys in the match and between the two rookies. it also had as expected the two veterns beating the tar out of the young guys with chops. All 4 had nasty welts post match with shiozakis chest being a complete mess thanks to the now customary chop battle on a fortune dream show. It was big stiff and full of nasty moments with the two young guys getting to have some time hanging with the big boys before Go put kiyomiya away with the burnning lariat infront of his mentor. a really good match to continue a show of good matches. ***3/4
