My cable box decided to lock up and make me reboot it right as the match was starting, the only match I gave a flying crap about. I didn't like what I saw of this, as much as the PPV match though.

Comments that don't warrant a thread - Part 3
MikeCampbell replied to Loss's topic in Megathread archive
I don't know if it was in the head or not, but I know it was used as a weapon at least once. A six man tag against Big Josh and two others (I only remember it for JR commenting that Rich and Josh used to be fishing buddies). -
Shane was the hottest heel in ECW from mid-late 1996 until Barely Legal. My college roomates heard the fans chanting "Break his neck!" during the PPV match and were shocked. The angle where he grabbed Gary Wolfe by the halo is easily a top five for ECW crowd heat.

[2014-03-17-WWE-Raw] Jimmy & Jey Uso vs Cesaro & Jack Swagger
MikeCampbell replied to Loss's topic in March 2014
I don't think they've missed anything with him yet, although I wish they followed up the Cena match by letting him pin Cena in the chamber instead of Orton. When you look the roster and the names who are obviously heading for big things I'd say Cesaro is #3, only behind Bryan finally getting his big win and Roman Reigns. Matches like this prove that (A. Cesaro is still on the radar and (B. That he deserves to still be on the radar, it's not a classic or anything, but it's a good match and he looks like a world beater by the end of it, proving that he can literally uppercut anyone at anytime. -
[2014-02-27-WWE-NXT Arrival] Bo Dallas vs Adrian Neville (Ladder)
MikeCampbell replied to Loss's topic in February 2014
I liked this just fine, but it wasn't anything special. It was your typical WWE ladder match, where it's all about the spots and nothing else is of any consequence. They had some smart moments, like Neville hesitating on whether he wanted to climb the ropes for the SSP or go for the ladder, and giving Dallas time to recover, but in the end, it fails to come evern close to Sami/Cesaro. -

[2014-02-27-WWE-NXT Arrival] Cesaro vs Sami Zayn
MikeCampbell replied to Loss's topic in February 2014
I've only seen their 2/3 falls match, but I thought this was tremenedous. Zayn is the spunky underdog, and Cesaro is the experienced vet shutting him down at every turn. Tons of smart touches from both, and a great finish. How does their 8/07 match compare? -

A buddy and I were discussing this tonight, and here's what we came up with. 1. HHH over Bryan by cheating, just to break the fans hearts, and make them think they aren't getting the big WM moment. 2. Batista vs. Orton for about five minutes, which is sure to fucking DIE with a PO'd crowd who wanted Daniel Bryan. 3. Hogan reverses the decision to a DQ win (not unprecedented, Rock did something similar in 2011, with Cena/Miz) and adds Bryan to the match. 4. Bryan wins, and the show closes out like WrestleMania 10, with all the babyfaces celebrating with him in the ring like they did with Bret.

What was the "main event" of Beach Blast 92?
MikeCampbell replied to Dylan Waco's topic in Pro Wrestling
Obviously he didn't have enough time. From what I remember from the shoot, by the end of Watts' employment, he used to bring Russo into the booking/creative meetings with McMahon and everybody. This is the time where Russo was writing for WWF magazine as Vic Venom. Russo said out of the blue, Watts was gone. I guess it never dawned on Russo that it wasn't so much that Watts took him "under his wing" because he saw potential in him, as it was that Watts thought the editor of the magazine should know where the storylines are going, to keep the magazine as current as possible. -
I could dig that. Zayn upsets Cesaro and Zeb and Swagger blow their tops at him, which triggers the babyface turn and him and Zayn as buddies. Sort of like Razor and Kid back in the day.

I'm not sure about Shiozaki, but Morishima got buried by Michael Hayes because of all the Terry Gordy comparisions people like to make, and Vince didn't think he was marketable.
-
I think Bryan winning at EC works and defending against Batista. Bryan wins, going over Orton clean for the finish. Batista, who at this point is still the babyface, shakes his hand, raises his arm and then turns on him, because he's the handpicked "face of the WWE" for the authority after Orton failed to cut the mustard.
-
Cornette has told that same story (save for the annoying part, but I think he knows that he can be annoying). When Watts was checking out the talent, Jarrett had Cornette doing a bunch of stuff in the matches, which wasn't usual. He knew it was Jarrett's way of telling Watts to take him.

Is TNA the worst wrestling promotion in history?
MikeCampbell replied to Loss's topic in Megathread archive
That doesn't surpise me at all. Who else is there for TNA to try to get? The only options I'm coming up with are Russo or going full WWE style and trying to get TV writers. -
I think this was based on the TV versions. The full versions weren't available until they aired on AJW classics, and then it was crystal clear which was better.
-
This came up in the shoot thread, but it applies here too: The latest offering from Kayfabe Commentaries, Breaking Kayfabe with Jim Cornette, is pretty much 99% of Jim talking about his time with ROH, and all the issues he had with the various people in Sinclair broadcasting that eventually led to his departure. The original report was that it was an amicable split, but I imagine that it's not much amicable anymore when they hear about what all he had to say.

WWE Network finally happening
MikeCampbell replied to flyonthewall2983's topic in Megathread archive
Sure he did. All the people were dressed like chairs! -
Edge I thought he said he was a Hogan kid? He's been pretty vocal about that for years now, that he was a huge Hogan mark as a kid. And says that he stopped like Warrior after he beat Hogan at 'Mania 6.
-
The HOF ceremony NEEDS to be shown the network in full. Just for Warrior's hour and half long speech, that USA network would probably chop down to five minutes.

My buddies and I got a huge kick out of the fact that when she did the table spot with Bubba, she took way more of a bump than Terri Runnels did a couple weeks before.
